He wants a ban:

<<< When Luka Magnotta returns before a judge for his preliminary hearing next week in Montreal, he'll seek to have the public banned entirely from the courtroom.

While a publication ban on evidence heard at a preliminary hearing is normal, Magnotta's lawyer has also asked to bar everyone except the judge, the lawyers in the case and the court clerk from the room. >>>

I attempted to start a new thread called "The Preliminary Hearing" to try to keep some uniformity to the current state of the case, as you can see in the below threads posts are cropping in the wrong places and older threads.
It said it was sent to the moderators for approval, but I've seen or heard nothing back. Anyone know if they're still around?

We aren't supposed to "discuss" in this thread, but I'll tell you that it often takes 24 hours for a Mod/Admin to OK/deny a new thread. That's what happened in the threads I've started.

:twocents:

At first, the father of murder victim Lin Jun leaned into the translator beside him.

In those seconds, he was still winning the battle to control his emotions.

But in the next, Lin Darin’s face crumpled, he began to sob, as quietly as it is possible to sob, and he effectively collapsed into the arms of the tall man sitting beside him.

This was Daniel Urbas.

The Diagnosis:

The doctor at the Rouge Valley Health System in Toronto says Magnotta suffered from paranoid schizophrenia since at least 2000 and had been hospitalized several times.

The psychiatrist writes that Magnotta, then known by his birth name Eric Newman, was on anti-psychotic medications but didn't always take them, which the doctor said could lead to paranoia, auditory hallucinations and fear of the unknown.
