Yep, if a rape goes on long enough and carries over to a second location and you are killed at some point in the process.. not rape. Certainly what happened in the woods was not consensual :-(. Oh well, I don't think it changes the sentence.

ETA: I guess this now becomes case law precedent?

I feel sort of sorry for Regan. She had nothing. She couldn't even try for a plea bargain because Chism wasn't eligible for life and there was no way that the prosecution was going to agree to anything less than the 15-25 he was eligible to get. She had to go through with the trial and insanity was the only straw she could grasp at, and now she's left talking about parole 15 years hence.

MacDougal deserves a nice dinner tonight, but I bet she's too tired.

Trial Verdict

MSNBC reported that Chism probably will get 3 life sentences, but will serve them all at the same time and be eligible for parole in 15 years. I sure wish they would report on the possibilities Chism could get, like serving all sentence one after another....and anything else. MOO, Chism will have a hard time in prison and will attack any female he can and fight anyone.

Question where does he go until he is adult, 18 or 21 by MA rules? Does he go to a juvenile prison or straight to an adult prison?

Thank you :) I am guilty of being an email hoarder. I'm bad here but I'm a monster on gmail. I cleaned some out.

I hope this verdict brings some sense of peace to the Ritzers. I fear that it's going to be a let-down for them once they no longer have the trial and sentencing to focus on...but at least they won't have the sense of continued victimization and injustice that they would have had if he had not been found guilty.

It still says that you need to clear some space..

Parole possibilities.....UGH.....that disgusts me. This young man is a very sick, dangerous person. I do not believe he will be any 'safer' when he is released, at age 27 or 28 yrs old....

The jury was much faster than I thought!

I can understand why they didn't want to convict on the unnatural rape charge. There was nothing to decide either way.

At least it's over for the Ritzer family, may it help healing their hearts a little bit.

God I hope not!

Again, thank you for the excellent coverage, jacct! I wasn't able to follow along at actual live times too often, but I don't think I missed anything thanks to how well you have done. Excellent work! I hope our paths continue to cross.

I wonder why the defense decided to waive jury polling for some counts and not others. To be absolutely positive on the murder charges? Did she just forget to waive it in time for the first couple, and didn't want to put herself, her team, and PC's mother through the awfulness of hearing each and every one say "guilty"?

anyone have a link to the 5:30 DA presser?

I heard Regan say she didn't need the jury polled for the other charges, I wonder why.

I agree katydid23.. Convicted lust murderer/rapist Phillip Chism has also shown his propensity for recidivism with the violent attack on the female correctional employee while incarcerated. PC is a very dangerous sexual predator imo, and if prematurely released from prison, will likely rack up a very high victim count..

Anatomy of a Lust Murder

By Vernon J. Geberth, M.S., M.P.S.
Former Commander, Bronx Homicide, NYPD
... In fact, the dynamics of lust murder and necrophilia are intimately connected.

"Lust murders are homicides in which the offender stabs, cuts, pierces or mutilates the sexual regions or organs of the victim's body. The sexual mutilation of the victim may include evisceration, piquerism, displacement of the genitalia in both males and females and the removal of the breasts in a female victim (defeminization).

It also includes activities such as "posing" and "propping" of the body, the insertion of objects into the body cavities, anthropophagy (consumption of blood and/or flesh) and necrophilia."
