State Police say the baby girl's remains were found at Zero Waste Solutions on Thursday in a trash collection that appears to have originated from Martha's Vineyard. They believe the baby's mother lives on, has ties to, or recently travelled to Martha's Vineyard.

It's always gone on; we just have the Internet to let us know about this happening outside our hometowns.

People on Martha's Vineyard need to BOLO for evidence of a woman, of any age, who was pregnant and isn't any more, and doesn't have a baby.

And this is why we have adoption and Safe Haven Laws in the first place, so women do not have to do this!

“The Cape and Island District Attorney's Office asked for help finding the newborn's mother, who "may live on, have ties to, or recently travelled to Martha's Vineyard"

Remains of baby girl found in trash at Massachusetts facility; tips sought in case

ROCHESTER, Mass. —
Investigators in Massachusetts are turning to the public to help them identify a newborn baby girl whose remains were found earlier this week at a regional recycling facility.

Police think the baby's mother may live on, have ties to, or recently traveled to Martha's Vineyard because the baby was found in trash that appears to have originated on the island before being shipped to Zero Waste Solutions in Rochester, state police said in a statement Saturday [April 29].

The trash was found by Zero Waste Solutions employees on Thursday [April 27] police said. [...]

State police and the Cape and Islands District Attorney's Office are investigating. Anyone with information about the child or her parents is asked to contact law enforcement.
From MassLive:
Officials are concerned the mother of a dead baby girl found at a Rochester recycling facility on Thursday could be “at risk,” and are urging the public for their help in finding the infant’s parents, who may have Martha’s Vineyard ties[...]

[Cape and Islands District Attorney Robert J.] Galibois said, “The investigation to date suggests that the health and welfare of the mother may be at risk. Identifying her as soon as possible is of paramount importance and urgency.”

Martha's Vineyard is a popular summer destination that has a year-round population of about 15,000. Right now it's the "pre-season" for tourism though, so the transient population is pretty low.
