I wonder if it was a UK exclusive or whether he spoke with the German media first…
No need to wonder, his name is the same in German as it is in English. Select Germany as the search location in your search engine and then use Google translate to find out.

Yes, I think he wrote the article himself and took the photo’s, it was all ready to go for the DM.
Is there any need for sarcasm? The initial story broke on the 3rd June, plenty of time for those involved to approach the media with stories to appear in the press a couple of days later

Strange how just one day later after CB was outed as prime suspect even though at the time he wasn't named by the BKA ,a witness had his story ready for the press.
Possibly via Spiegel or Bild .He’d probably had 1-3 years preparation from first being interviewed by the BKA so
not surprised he wanted to sell his story .

Seems to be some irrational (imo) belief here that German police and prosecutors don't liaise with the media, when we know police in every other country do. HCW/the prosecutors office clearly were desperate for everyone to consider CB guilty re: MM. "If you knew what we know..." etc. They'd have used every tool at their disposal to influence, and probably still are.

The legal system in Germany, being it as is with no lay jury, has nothing to gain from the BKA being 'desperate' to convince the public that CB or anyone else is guilty nor influence anyone. Jmo

OG consistently said they would not give a running commentary, borne out by not naming Tannerman, Wolters doesn't seem to hold the investigation in the same light.

I reckon they feel the pressure as much as anyone, and especially so in the position they're in after starting off so gung ho with the "We're 100% certain" etc.

the German prosecutors are doing their job. They had a public appeal for information and have given some interviews aiming to convince witnesses to come forward. I don't see any running commentary jmo

I don't get that impression but that may be just me. I trust they are doing the best they can to bring justice for MM and her family. Jmo
Ok. They want to keep him incarcerated as long as possible. I understand that, I'm sure we all do. So that's why they'll be using every tool at their disposal, including the media. But some of us seem to be reluctant to recognise that, and I'm just interested in why. That's all I'm saying. Investigating/prosecuting is not an easy job of course, none of us thinks it is.

If we don't find anything we'll let you know, but if we do we wont, is what?

Sorry, I am genuinely confused. Do you mean in terms of seeking witnesses regarding the various charges?

Just mean imo in Germany investigators brief/feed/leak to media as much as investigators do from time to time everywhere else. Some posters seem to think they don't. Not even when there's a huge media event like we saw in June 2020, which, to many of us, certainly looked to have been coordinated with press and TV.

There’s liasing and there’s leaking. The accusation has been that the BKA leaked. Is this what happened and if so where is the evidence? We know information about the investigation was leaked to Amaral in advance but is it really likely that this leak was directly from the BKA or from sources within the PJ privy to confidential information?

Is that how the legal system in Germany works then? Use the media rather than evidence presented before a judge to convince “everybody “ of a suspect’s guilt in order to ensure justice is served?

Ask the prosecutor, he's the one who repeatedly made the "he's 100% guilty! [re:MM]" statements. Over the years I've always thought anyone who says they're 100% certain about what happened to Madeleine are either 1) twits, or 2) someone with an agenda. Clearly the prosecutors aren't twits, so imo they have an agenda.

Do you have a cite for HCW stating as a fact that CB is 100% guilty? If so please supply it, thanks. I would have thought their agenda was as clear as day by the way. It’s to secure cast iron evidence to ensure that CB is convicted of murder and never gets out of prison again.

An agenda other than the one stated, I should have said. Of course they want to keep him in prison as long as possible, we all understand that. But it might well turn out they hoped the media blitz in June 2020 would either make him confess in some way to some involvement or make him incriminate others re:MM. Imo they bluffed. Many wouldn't blame them but bluffing's no good if the bloke didn't actually do it.

If he's convicted on the other charges they may well be again hoping he confesses/cooperates re:MM, in the way JC talks about in the Donal Mc podcasts.(Jmo as well as his of course)

What specifically do you think they lied about in June 2020?
