It has been a year now since the flight went missing. Incredible. We are getting a few news updates because of the one year anniversary.

As the search for missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 nears the one-year mark, former Australian defence chief Sir Angus Houston says he remains hopeful of a breakthrough. He said the ongoing Australian-led search had already scoured 43% of the high-priority area.

“I think on the balance of probabilities at the moment, the chances of finding it are still good, and we should be patient and persist with the search,” Sir Angus said. “I’m still quietly optimistic that ... one day, hopefully very soon, we might wake up and hear that it’s been found.”

In Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia’s transport minister said on Saturday that if the undersea search failed to turn up anything by the end of May (when the harsh winter conditions commence), the three countries leading the effort will re-examine data and come up with a new plan.

Wow, it's been a yeeeear?!...

Wow, it's been a yeeeear?!...

It's very sad indeed a year ago today 239 people men, women and children boarded a plane not knowing they were going to disappear and never see their loved ones again. Thoughts and prayers with their loved ones who are stuck in indefinite limbo not knowing what has happened. It's went in really quick in a way but dragged in another. I remember watching CNN constantly and posting here for news and updates I can't believe we still know nothing.

Interim report on findings to be released today.

The investigation teams released an interim report to the Malaysian government today on the findings of the last year’s search for MH370. They will publicly release the report Sunday, March 8, the one-year anniversary of the disappearance. Some of the missing passengers’ next-of-kin are questioning the government's decision to release the report at this time, which will occur a few hours before a remembrance ceremony.

Prayers to the families, loved ones & friends. Praying there is a miracle & the plane is found within the next few days!

There are three classifications for sonar contacts which are identified during the course of the underwater search.

Classification 3 is assigned to sonar contacts that are of some interest as they stand out from their surroundings but have low probability of being significant to the search.

Classification 2 sonar contacts are of comparatively more interest but are still unlikely to be significant to the search.

Classification 1 sonar contacts are of high interest and warrant immediate further investigation.

To date, no seabed features have been classified as category 1.

The crew of the vessels engaged in the search for MH370 are deeply committed to their task. Crew work night and day, for weeks at a time and often in difficult conditions, to launch the search equipment and to monitor and analyse the data collected. In the following interview, Mr Paul Kennedy of Fugro talks about the challenges that the ship and its crew face.

I hate to say it, but I still think that plane ended up in the Maldives.

One year and still no answers :(
I just can't get over the fact that a jumbo jet can disappear without a trace!

It has been one year and no answers. MH370 just vanished. We will probably never find MH370.

The report has been released. But I have not been able to find a copy of it. I imagine that the Duncan Steel scientists will get hold of it as soon as they can.

"Meanwhile, the Malaysian government has released an interim report into the disappearance of flight MH370.

The BBC's Jonathan Head says the report contains masses of technical information about the missing aircraft, its maintenance record, the background of the crew, and the various air traffic control and military radar tracking records of the plane.

However, he adds, it appears to offer no significant new information which might explain where the plane went, or what happened to it."

Info that seems to be causing the most stir in the report is the fact that battery of underwater locator beacon had expired a year before plane disappeared.

Serious questions need to be asked about this. How on earth did it happen? How well are the Malaysian Airlines planes maintained? I certainly won't be in a hurry to fly with them or to Malaysia after this and the AirAsia recovery fiasco.

Thanks for all your updates hope your all having a nice weekend.
