One other thought I had was the that there has been no reports of any passengers calling/texting anyone. No time to communicate any trouble, maybe the reason. idk jmo

I, too, was surprised there have been no reports of texts/phone messages from passengers on the plane...

:waitasec:

CNN is anticipating a briefing from Chinese officials within the hour. 159 of the passengers onboard the Malaysian flight were Chinese nationals.

I agree. What bothers me is that the passports used to fly were reported stolen. (according to link below) Why were the stolen passports not "flagged" as such?

Why these stolen passports were not flagged is a mystery to me, as well...

Additionally... Considering the more strict airline monitoring since 9-11.. Wouldn't there be surveillance cam pictures of the passengers that actually boarded the plane?

Just some thoughts...

The stolen passports make me think that two people were on the no fly list and needed new identities.

I suspect that too. I wonder if the Kuala Lumpur International Airport have any security camera footage of those two using the stolen passports.

Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 code shares with China Southern Airlines Flight CZ748.

I wonder if this could be related to last week's Kunming attack as the flight had mostly Chinese and flying to Beijing.

Just adding.

Home video of the pilot is heart wrenching to hear. His helper in the video, may be his wife?

If this is terrorism, how can a human being board a plane, seeing all the innocent lives he is going to destroy? I just can't wrap my head around that kind of evil.

Foreign ministry officials in Rome and Vienna confirm that names of two nationals listed on the manifest of the missing Malaysian airlines flight match passports reported stolen in Thailand.

Italy's Foreign Ministry said Saturday that an Italian man whose name was listed as being aboard is traveling in Thailand and was not aboard the plane.

Austrian Foreign Ministry spokesman Martin Weiss confirmed that a name listed on the manifest matches an Austrian passport reported stolen two years ago in Thailand. Weiss would not confirm the identity.

Terrorists cannot be reasoned with. They are highly fanatical and vindictive.

It must have been quick, whatever it was. An explosion of some sort would be my guess.

I could imagine an explosion happening. There would be no distress signal as it happens quickly. I wonder if there were distress signals with other mid-air explosions.

One person with a stolen passport reported on that plane would be lucky (for the person who lived, obviously). But two?? Of different nationalities, but both with passports stolen from Thailand, but at different times? I think, if it's true, it must greatly increase the chances this was a terrorist attack.

I just heard on the news the US Navy's joined the search now.

Catching up this morning. The two stolen passports are very concerning, and both were stolen in Thailand from what is being reported. I really didn't want to speculate on terrorism or hijacking last night, but it certainly is a head scratcher that the one Italian passenger and the one Austrian passenger onboard were not on the plane at all. So, who was? Someone asked above about increased security after 9/11, and I'm not sure if those countries would have increased like we did in the US.

So, they're taking family members to the crash site today, but haven't officially called it a crash site, and all they've seen are the oil slicks and some "rubbish" (hate that they called it that)?

More questions than answers. Back to catching up.

I am wondering about some sort of terrorist action, considering the stolen passports. What are the chances that two passengers (or more?) with stolen passports are on the same flight?

The issue, though, about an explosion: I wouldn't think there would be oil slicks, as the oil would be scattered about more? Just a thought. Anyone know?
