Search for #MH370 is bigger than politics. I urge all Msians to put differences aside and unite during this difficult time -@HishammuddinH2O

The Transport Minister has listed all the countries and aircraft that are helping with the search. He also confirmed that the ACARS and transponder were switched off and that whatever happened was deliberate.

He then went on to discuss the speculation of political links and said "the search for MH370 is bigger than politics".

It seems they really have no other clues at this time.

I thought his comment about this is bigger than politics was pretty ""rich"" nearly gagged me.

I am furious that we are supposed to be content with their inept behavior about not doing ''due dilligence'' and not sending up planes to fly by the cockpit to see who was at the controls and potentially forcing him down.

So many young people put themselves in harms way to perform SAR...this is nauseating

Just an observation - why is the press conference (mainly) in English? I assume it's because it's an international language, just hardly seems fair on the reporters, the ministers, or the families. Lots of room for things to be mispronounced/misconstrued.

Don't forget Malaysia is former Brit colony......

EX-El Al experts weigh in on what happened

"“We don’t know any better yet,” he said. “One of my theories is that the airplane landed in Bangladesh. It could reach there, it’s very close to Afghanistan. It could have landed on airstrip there, and everybody on board is still alive. It could be done.”

No where in the article do they suspect the pilot AND

"“This would never have happened on an Israeli plane,” says Yeffet. “An El Al aircraft was hijacked for the first and last time in 1968. Since then, there has not been a single flight where security did not check every single name.”

What credibility does The European Times have? This story is so bizarre it is making me think of purchasing a tin foil hat as well as a gas mask. JMOO

No you're right - I was out walking the dog when someone mentioned it to me and without looking into its credibility, I copy/pasted the link without thinking... my bad

So ACARS reported back that the turn west was pre-programed according to CNN via the NYT report.

CNN also mentioned something about Thailand picking up an unidentified plane on radar during the time Flight 370 disappeared. Any other media outlets reporting this? Just a rumor but interesting.

I'm still wondering what this highly valuable cargo could be? Probably not the mangosteens, unless they were filled with drugs. The passengers? Valuable cargo as a bargaining chip? The electronics workers? Or something that the workers were carrying? The secret 30 Americans that another poster was talking about last night?

I know nothing on this I have trying to find something....given that there were 20 engineers who were returning to China after visiting Malaysian production facilities I wonder if it was products produced there.

Though, JMO, but it could also have possibly been done by someone forcibly entering the cockpit and doing that, even without the pilots' cooperation. (Last week's shoe-bomb testimony comes to mind...)

Again, this article:

was that poster on again last night? they were on the other night but I couldn't understand what they were trying to say, but gathered there was supposed to be extra americans or something on the plane...

this really is so mysterious the whole thing.......

I do have one question that I need answered....it probably has on here, but I have read so much stuff...

but basically since the plane went up to 45000 feet how could they survive??

I know it has been said that they would be knocked out, then I have read that they would have died within seconds, and yet I still read reports that mahybe they are alive on land somewhere....

would the oxygen masks drop and would this keep them alive until they went down again? or could the pilots have organised the drop of the oxygen masks and told everyone to put them on, then gone up to 45000 feet, would they be ok?

what I am trying to ask is what are the chances they would would survive going up to that altitude??? and how.

It just confuses me that media are saying they could be alive when I have read that going to that altitude they wouldn't be..
