Those Soviet era apartment blocks in the photo are depressing.

So far I think I've linked;

Reports of rail line damage

Reports of the possibility of roads being shelled

Reports of airport damage

It seems to me the options for entering or leaving Donetsk are closing down?

Yes it does, and it makes me wonder if someone came up with a way of delaying removing the bodies and evidence from that area.

"Ukrainian prime minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk says bodies held at Torez train station
will be sent to Amsterdam."
"He said 251 of the bodies recovered so far had already been relocated onto a refrigerated train in Torez, 15 kilometres away from the crash site.
Dutch forensic experts have been allowed in to examine the bodies of the victims."
Mr van Vilet praised the Ukrainian recovery workers, saying those who collected hundreds of bodies from the giant swathe of
land in a war zone for did a "hell of a job".
"Despite reports some of the bodies may have been looted and were never properly secured during days lying out
in the summer sun,
Mr van Vliet expressed admiration for the recovery crews that gathered them."

Peter van Vliet, leader of a 3-man team of Dutch body identification experts, the first international
investigators to visit the crash area, said his priority would be getting hundreds of bodies now stored
in refrigerated rail cars to a location where they can be identified and sent home.
Despite reports that some of the bodies may have been looted and were never properly secured during days lying
out in summer sun, van Vliet expressed admiration for the recovery crews that gathered them.

This photo of a looter stealing a gold ring is circulating the internet. I have finally found a news source with the pic and (very) roughly translated info ... makes me think that there may be many photos among the journalists of the looting and of the damage to the plane, and the crash zone, that will be available to authorities.

I agree with him, despite the PROPOGANDA being spewed by those nowhere near the horror. My hat is off to this man who is able to understand and speak truth.

Russia heeds Australian outrage as Prime Minister Tony Abbott pushes to clear the path for an investigation into the MH17 disaster

July 22, 2014 12:00AM

MOSCOW has bowed to Tony *Abbott’s demands that it supports a UN resolution to be issued this morning demanding access to the crash site and an international investigation into the shooting down of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17.

Within 12 hours of a private phone conversation between the PM and Russian President Vladimir Putin, Moscow had released a statement suggesting it would agree to the *Australian drafted resolution.

Russia would not use its veto as a permanent member of the UN *Security Council to block an investigation when it votes this morning in New York as long as the resolution did not apportion blame.

I get the feeling that as soon as all of the victims remains are out of that country, something is going to "hit the fan".

A former chief pilot of Malaysia Airlines has questioned the worth of rules that were supposed to keep aircraft safe over Ukraine.

Pilots flying above the war zone were told they were not to go below 32,000 feet. Captain Nik Huzlan says altitude restrictions ignore the realities of flying.

"What happens if you're flying over that area and you lose an engine? You cannot maintain 32,000 feet and you descend to 22,000 feet," he told ABC's 730 program.

"What if you have a decompression and passengers are gasping for air and the procedure calls you to descend to lowest safe altitude?"

"Netherlands opens war crimes investigation into MH17 disaster

Dutch prosecutors have launched an investigation into the crash of MH17 on suspicion of murder, war crimes and intentionally downing an airliner, a spokesman said.

A Dutch public prosecutor is in Ukraine as part of the investigation, according to a spokesman quoted by Reuters.

Based on the international criminal law, the Netherlands can prosecute any individual who committed a war crime against a Dutch citizen. Some 193 Dutch citizens were among the 298 people who were killed when the plane was downed on Thursday."

I saw this image earlier SouthAussie, but I was searching for a proper link aside from the tweet to which it was attached.

ITA, the journalists on the ground are no doubt documenting all they can. I hope they remain safe and the evidence remains intact.
