How many victims were carried on each plane? Thanks

Watching the procession now on CNN.
No words....just tears.

So touched by the Dutch people, cars going the opposite direction stopping, crowds lining the sides of the roads showing care. Beautiful people!

Yes, I agree. I'm very impressed with how this is being handled. So much grace.

And what a beautiful country it is.

Donetsk militia leader tells Reuters they really did have a BUK missile launcher of the sort used to shoot #MH17. Maybe from Russia. Wow.

"They probably sent it back in order to avoid proof of its presence." http://mobile.reuters.com/article/idUSKBN0FS1V920140723?irpc=932 …

"I want a BUK, and if someone offered me one, I wouldn't turn it down." http://mobile.reuters.com/article/idUSKBN0FS1V920140723?irpc=932 …

So now everyone except Russia says the rebels had a BUK. Looking forward to seeing how the Kremlin spins this one.

I now love the Netherlands and its people.
This is very touching.

I'm listening/watching the live coverage of the memorial service on CNN. The music and readings are appropriate, beautiful, and heartfelt. The Dutch have done a fine job of welcoming their loved ones home with dignity, grace, and respect. :rose: :rose: :rose:

In somber ceremony, Dutch welcome home first remains of MH17 victims

By Michael Pearson and Holly Yan, CNN

updated 1:36 PM EDT, Wed July 23, 2014

(CNN) -- A lone bugler sounding the traditional military farewell "Last Post" marked the arrival Wednesday in the Netherlands of the first dead from the crash of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17.

The grieving nation then held a moment of silence to honor those killed in the crash of the jetliner, downed last week by a suspected surface-to-air missile over war-torn eastern Ukraine.

In a ceremony rich with martial symbolism -- from saluting soldiers to the haunting tune used to send war dead to their rest -- 40 bodies borne in simple wooden caskets were solemnly unloaded from two military planes. Soldiers then walked them to waiting hearses and lowered them inside before rendering a final salute.

The only sounds: the hushed orders of soldiers and a whipping wind...

I actually got goosebumps when I read that excerpt... Stunningly sad, yet beautiful and dignified.

but ...

I am fully aware of the European aspect, I live here !

so I'm pretty well "educated" regarding the on-going situation in Ukraine.

I thought you must .. welcome to! Thank you for a different perspective on this situation :)

Is there a link where I can watch todays livestream of the ceremony?

Hardly an "Invasion" !

Russian citizens, troops threatened in Ukraine, need armed forces’ protection

Russian President Vladimir Putin has requested the use of Russian military forces in Ukraine to settle the situation there.

Putin’s request was filed after the Chairman of the Federation Council, Valentina Matvienko, said that in order to “protect the people” ....

She particularly referred to the crisis in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, where Russians make the majority of the population.

The developments follow an appeal by the Prime Minister of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Sergey Aksyonov, who requested that Russia to help cope with the crisis and ensure “peace and calm” in the region.

"I submit a proposal on using the armed forces of the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine until the normalization of the socio-political situation in the that country.”

The Russian leader held detailed phone discussions on “various aspects of the extraordinary situation in Ukraine" with US President Barack Obama

A RT article saying Sergey Aksyonov called in Russia. Of course it is going to say that. The guy has his fingers in as many dodgy pies as Putin. And most likely same ones. RT probably being one of them.

[h=1]Enough Grandstanding. It’s Time For Real Sanctions Against Russia[/h]
Right and wrong in politics are subject to the force and ability of the powerful to impose their version or perception of such. It is malleable to the force of the victors and the glib propaganda that provides “alternate viewpoints” which massage, contort and finesse the understanding and perception of situations.

http://www.interpretermag.com/enough-grandstanding-its-time-for-real-sanctions-against-russia/

Let's face it .. all governments push their own agenda, politicians take stances they know will gain them popularity within their own countries, and no incident happens in isolation, we bring our opinions and views with us when viewing events in the world. There are many perspectives on the political situation in Ukraine depending on where you stand on the issue, if we bring sanctions on Russia, what is the reasoning .. is it to influence Putin and what happens with Ukraine? Or is it for revenge?

[h=1]MH17 investigation to suffer as Ukraine preps for war against Russian-backed rebels in Donetsk[/h]
AIR crash investigators are unlikely to safely gain extended access to the MH17 crash site as Ukraine’s parliament approves the call-up of all men under the age of 50 for a military assault on the separatist stronghold in Donetsk.

Will they stop at nothing to keep investigators from the crash site?!
