(NewsNation) — U.S. Attorney Martin Estrada said that “Friends” actor Matthew Perry’s drug dealeralso sold drugs to another person who overdosed in 2019.

Perry’s dealer, Jasveen Sangha, sold approximately 50 vials of ketamine for approximately $11,000 in cash to Perry in October 2023. Sangha sold Perry the batch of ketamine that resulted in his death.

Estrada said in a press conference that during the investigation into Perry’s death, investigators found that Sangha sold ketamine to Cody McLaury, who overdosed in 2019. After McLaury died, a family member sent a message to Sangha telling her that ketamine was the cause of McLaury’s death.

This person should be charged with manslaughter. They knew first hand and still did it again.

I am not so sure. Physicians prescribe medications, based on symptoms presented by the patient. If a patient does not follow the prescribed dosage, or takes other substances with the medication that is contraindicated, how is this the responsibility of the physician? This also includes participation in activities that are contraindicated by the medication instructions.

Physicians are so fearful of the "witch hunts" for over prescribing opiods, that qualified medical providers that manage chronic pain are difficult to find. Case in point, my husband has a documented service connected injury, from service in the military in a war zone. He has shrapnel in his back. Even, 50 years later from his injury, shards of metal come out of his skin. They were too small or embedded to remove surgically.

Physicians have refused to provide pain medication to him. A decorated military veteran was told to "do yoga" to control his pain. He can barely move. We have to drive over 300 miles to a qualified pain management provider each month for his meds. And arrests of providers who do give opioid prescriptions means maybe less physicians will provide needed care for people who have chronic pain conditions.
Legitimate pain specialists know the difference, and also try to use non-opiates whenever possible.

I noticed he'd worked for MP for 25 years. So he'd been his assistant through many years of his various addictions. If he hasn't enabled him, IMO, he'd have long ago been fired.

This assistant of 25 years allegedly gave Perry the injection of Ketamine that took his life!!!!

I think maybe people are misunderstanding why this was investigated as it was. First, in many overdose cases, there isn't much if any trail to follow. If it is bought off the street, real names aren't used, cash, there is no path for police to follow. This case different for two reasons. Perry was leaving tracks as to who was involved (his PA). But also, these folks were already being investigated by authorities. So they didn't have to start from scratch.
I totally understand why it was investigated as it was. I just have a hard time believing that the law was applied "equally." Because of things I've experienced, I can say I have a hard time believing it was applied equally in this case. If MP was on skid row do you really think the LAPD would have expended the resources to investigate his case? I don't. We wouldn't have seen a quarter or an eighth of the resources used to investigate the case if he was some degenerate living on skid row. He would have been written off as another junkie, maybe gotten an oh, well...And that would have been the last we would have heard of it.

JMO, IMO, and all other disclaimers.

WHO ARE THE FIVE PEOPLE CHARGED?

Jasveen Sangha: The 41-year-old so-called "Ketamine Queen" is facing multiple charges.

They are one count each of conspiracy to distribute ketamine, maintaining a drug-involved premises, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute ketamine, and five counts of distribution of ketamine.

The ketamine she supplied is alleged to have caused Perry's death.

Dr. Salvador Plasencia: "Dr. P" has pleaded not guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine.

The 42-year-old is alleged to have sourced ketamine for Perry from a co-defendant and to have instructed the star's assistant on how to inject it.

Kenneth Iwamasa: The live-in assistant, 54, has pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine causing death.

He's also admitted repeatedly injecting Perry with ketamine without medical training, including on the day he died.

Eric Fleming: An acquaintance of Perry, Fleming, 54, has pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine and one count of distribution of ketamine resulting in death.

He admitted to giving Iwamasa the ketamine that killed Perry.

Dr. Mark Chavez: The San Diego physician, 54, has agreed to plead guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine.

In his plea agreement, he admitted selling ketamine to "Dr. P" and obtaining it via fraudulent prescription, and making false representation to a wholesale ketamine distributor.

This dumbed it down enough for me to understand.
But help me out here.
So the fatal K came from Jasveen via Fleming. Stupid question: Was the K she had medical grade or street grade? If it was medical, as in made by a approved lab, where did she get it?
This is going to blow a lot of people up, I saw some mention of Brooke Mueller, I think she sang like a canary, and she has a lot of info on the drug world in Hollywood

Is $12 to $2000 a normal markup, or was it just in his case since he had the ability to pay for it? Its no wonder that drug lords are rampant. They can’t make that amount of money from any other source, but I guess the risk is worth it in their minds.

It's rare for any overdoses to get prosecuted, but deaths of non-celebrity overdoses do get prosecuted as well. Here's another recent one in California for the death a gas station attendant.

One of my friends is an MD who specializes in pain meds. She has told me quite a few things about how they handle patients who are drug dependent.

My friend and I just watched the report on the national news broadcast. We both said that people die from drug overdoses every day in the city near where we live. Unless the person is wealthy or well known the deaths aren’t investigated. Just another drug addict dying from an overdose.
