Akia Eggleston went missing in Baltimore, Maryland in May of 2017. Akia’s family became alarmed when the 21-year-old failed to show up to her own baby shower on May 3. Calls to Akia went unanswered. Family members visited her apartment to find only a couple of dressers and her bed. They said it looked as if she had moved out. Akia then missed her next prenatal appointment. Akia was eight months into a high-risk pregnancy at the time. Her son would now be four and a half years old. Authorities originally said they did not suspect foul play in connection with her disappearance, but in 2018, told Dateline they now believe foul play is involved. Authorities said they have interviewed more than 100 people, but have not named a suspect. On November 7, 2017, the FBI announced a reward of up to $25,000 for information regarding Akia’s whereabouts. She is described as 4’8” tall, weighing 145 lbs, with black hair and brown eyes. If you have information regarding Akia’s case, please call the Baltimore Police Department at (443) 984-7385 or FBI's Baltimore Field Office at (410) 265-8080.

Details of Disappearance
Eggleston was last seen in Baltimore, Maryland on May 3, 2017. She went to the bank that day and withdrew over $500 in cash, an unusual amount for her. The bank was three miles from Eggleston's apartment in the 600 block of Cherrycrest Road. Inside the bank was the last time anyone saw her. She has never been heard from again.

She was reported missing on May 7, after she didn't arrive at her baby shower. When her family checked her apartment, everything was gone except her bed. The bedroom dresser was gone, as were all of Eggleston's clothes. It looked as if she had moved out, but her family questioned her physical ability to do so, given her high-risk pregnancy; they stated they could barely even walk.

Eggleston's family didn't learn the identity of her unborn baby's father until after her disappearance; he is Andre "Michael" Robertson, a friend of the family. Although her family didn't believe Eggleston and Robertson were dating, Eggleston planned to move in with him and had told her best friend this. She said she planned to be out of her apartment by May 10.

She was close to her stepfather, aunt and grandmother; her mother had died of cancer years earlier. She had a two-year-old daughter from a prior relationship and stayed active during her pregnancy in spite of her doctor's orders that she stay in bed. She had placed a $900 deposit for her baby shower.

In February 2022, Robertson was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with Eggleston's case: her murder and the murder of their unborn baby. Robertson was seeing at least one other woman and had multiple children already by the time his and Eggleston's baby was conceived, and may have not wanted to financially support another child.

Investigators think Robertson made Eggleston think they were about to move in together, but in fact the move was never intended to happen and was a ruse Robertson created to facilitate the murders. Authorities stated cellular phone data, financial records, social media messages and photographic evidence formed part of the case against him.

A photo of Robertson is posted with this case summary. Eggleston's body has never been located. It may have been taken to the Baltimore City landfill. Foul play is suspected in Eggleston's case due to the circumstances involved.

Oh it’s about time they got em! It’s too bad Maryland doesn’t have the death penalty for leverage to get him to give up her location.

Not sure how much good it would do. I guess there is a chance she may be in the landfill. So painful to think that could be someone's final resting place. Her and the baby.

BALTIMORE (WBFF) — Almost five years after the disappearance of a pregnant Baltimore woman, the case has been officially upgraded from missing persons to a homicide investigation.

In February the Baltimore City State's Attorney's Office announced murder charges against the father of Akia Eggleston's unborn child, 41-year-old Michael Robertson.

Thursday, Baltimore Police announced that they are adding Akia Eggleston and her son, Anubis Robertson to the list of city homicide victims.

Five years after disappearance, pregnant mother, unborn child added to homicide count

I remember seeing Akia’s smile while looking at the newest cases added to namus 5 years ago. I’ve always suspected her unborn child’s father might have done something to her. He is older, wasn’t in a relationship with Akia, and had a child with another woman.

Officers arrested Michael Robertson for the murder of Akia Eggleston and her unborn child. Robertson is the father of Akia's unborn child. The Baltimore State’s Attorney’s office released a full statement of probable cause which indicated that Akia is likely deceased. They also stated that Robertson faces “a maximum penalty of two life sentences in prison if found guilty of all charges which include two counts of First Degree Murder,” while also cautioning that “an arrest is not a finding of guilt. An individual charged is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at trial.”Detective Niki Fennoy from the Media Relations section of the Baltimore Police Department told Dateline that the "Akia Eggleston case is closed," despite her body having not been located. If you have information regarding Akia’s case or her location, please call the Baltimore Police Department at (443) 984-7385 or the FBI's Baltimore Field Office at (410) 265-8080.
