MOO, Korryn's hate, which seemed to consume her, is what actually killed her.

Still watching the funeral of Officer DeGuzman. He loved karaoke and was such a joyful, spiritual person. Listening to so many telling these wonderful stories of this beloved man, I'm convinced he had no hate or prejudice in him. He lived to protect the community and serve, and his family meant the world to him. This man loved people and his life. He was shot while still sitting in the driver's seat of the patrol car.

I can't defend, respect, or sympathize with someone who purposely points a big gun at the police and threatens to kill them. Our children should be one of our greatest joy, but Korryn used her son as a pawn in her fight to keep hating. She kept putting her own children in danger and filling them with her seething resentments.

I'm really worried the son is already programmed to bite and fight LE to the death just like his mother. :sigh:

I worry about her son as well. He watched her being shot by 'the enemy.' I worry that he will die at the hands of LE too, many years from now. I am afraid that he has been trained to hate them and to act out in violent ways in resistance. I really hope he can be is counseling and in a loving, supportive home now to try and help him.

I hope he gets therapy.

Could they have dropped a smoke bomb or tear gas or whatever they do? They must have more tools than killing

With the child there I don't think that was an option, jmo She could have turned the weapon on her child. Even her parents couldn't talk her down. jmo idk JMO this was a justified shooting.

JMO, I would have thought maybe her parents could've gotten through to her, but no. She had a gun to use at any moment the entire time. Her son was still in the apartment. Who could guess what she was capable of doing? Tear gas, etc.,... I think that would have set her off even more and put him in greater danger. No matter what LE did, she was out to make them look bad, even at the cost of her own child's safety there was no way she was going to cooperate. It's sickening and she was even cheered on by a social media audience.

I was thinking a dart gun with a massive dose of tranquilizer, you can bet she would've sue for that later, but with a loaded gun in her hands and her child in the apartment...

The problem is that the tranquilizers take a few minutes to work. So it could have angered her to the point of shooting her son and herself. I think that was their worry. if she wanted to shoot herself, she might take her innocent baby with her, too many do it that way.

Nope. They had no idea of what she was capable of. Once she realized they weren't leaving she could have easily committed murder and suicide as opposed to the cops getting her, then everyone would have complained they didn't step in sooner. She had time to negotiate, she had the chance to put her gun down, to end this at any point. But she chose not to. She chose to present herself as a threat, she chose not to go to court, she chose not to have a license, she chose all those things.

So because she might commit suicide, the cops should kill her and her child first? I don’t believe any reasonable person would have been critical of the police for not killing a person before they commit suicide. That logic doesn’t even make any sense.

And not showing up in court, you think should be a capital offense?

Not speaking for Elley Mae, but Ms Gaines did not die for her failure to appear in court. Her death was a foreseeable consequence of her other actions over a period of hours, actions threatening the lives of LEOs, her son, & possibly other people in the bldg. JM2cts.

Her son is still alive. Its very possible Police saved his life. He might not be if they did NOT shoot her. She would have sacrificed him for her 'cause'. Even her BF ran out with the other child. He knew what she was doing.

<modsnip> I have only read that it was not released yet who shot the child in the leg. She may not of intentionally shot her child, but at this time it is possible that she did shoot him. It is reported that she fired her shotgun. A shotgun shell basically opens and starts spreading it's load as soon as it leaves the barrel. Her child would not of even needed to be aimed at by her to of been hit with the shots coming out of the shotgun shell.
This mother IMO did not care what happened to her son.

Where else in the world can you point a shotgun at the cops and have it end up being the cops' fault for shooting you? Only in America...

1. Her child was not killed.
2. She had taken her child hostage, during a stand off with police over a ticket she could have handled in court but her asinine beliefs led her to ultimately chose to endanger her child.

If you can't see that she was openly aggressive towards police and had no intent on coming out without a battle, I think you are willfully choosing to ignore the facts about this person. You cannot wave a loaded gun around a child erratically and point a gun at people and threaten to kill them and not expect police to disable that threat.

<modsnip> Personally, the people to blame for this are the adults committing crimes and not handling them in court, and specifically,a mother so selfish in her beliefs that she would choose to enter into a standoff with cops and rebuff all negotiations with her child present. Even her criminal partner wanted out of that situation and luckily got out of the house with the youngest. She held her own child in a hostage situation, all because she felt above the law.

One thing I do ponder is how long this behavior was going on from her. Her other child was quite young and I wonder if she suffered from post partum psychosis.

It has been released. You just don’t care to find out the facts. The cops shot the kid. They have admitted it. The mother was not threatening her child in anyway. The child would have been fine if the cops didn’t shoot him. But people will twist the facts around to defend the cops no matter what.

Pointing a gun at police and threatening to shot them will surely get that person shot, as it should. jmo

No but she could have odds show killed her child too. So they were also protecting him.

And you don’t think the chances of child being killed were dramatically increased when the cops started shooting at him?
