I was thinking more in terms of there not being a steep drop off near shore like there is in places like the Outer Banks. Also, if close enough to shore or a pier and you fall in, even if the water is up to your chin or higher, I think it would be easier to push yourself off the bottom, something you can't do if your feet can't find bottom.
;)

I agree with the sharp drop off as right in that area there wouldn't be one but also the bottom is pretty mushy so it's not going to help much pushing off from it but with the choppy water and cold I'd guess that prolly wouldn't even cross your mind at the time

You aren't lasting long in this water right now much less back then,it's just to damn cold

Yeah, I was reading some articles that in water that cold, many people go into shock and can't even remember that they need to swim or keep their heads above water.

We haven't heard what Robin was wearing when found . Supposedly her shirt was found earlier . How long after she disappeared was the shirt (if it was hers) found? Was she wearing a coat when she arrived at the house? Was it recovered? No word on Bella's necropsy. I hope after the funeral LE releases some info...

i wonder if WP went to the service today? i'm still so shocked we haven't heard a thing about the autopsy results or how WP is holding up!

Our prayers are with Robin Pope today, her family and her friends. Our hope for the best outcome would be that Wayne Pope is found innocent of any and all guilt in Robin's death. If that comes about, maybe her daughter's can find peace in their life again. Hopefully with their father, after their combined lose of mother and wife. Rest in peace Robin Pope, know you were loved. Amen!

Just received a tweet from Cheryl Conner@2abc . and she wrote that she finished an interview with Rachael Pope after the funeral and she is quoted as saying "this day will not bring closure only until the person responsible is brought to justice". This tells me this is no accident.....

This tells me she's looking for a ratings boost.

Actually it doesn't tell you anything at all.

BREAKING: On the day Robin Pope laid to rest, source tells me autopsy found no obvious signs of trauma on her body...

I would think if it was an accident ,why ask for the person responsible be brought to justice? Explain how you interpret it..

She wants justice and closure. I highly doubt she's been told much to not jeopardize the investigation. It's only natural to think someone may have caused this. She probably has a hard time believing her mom went in the water for whatever reason

It's only a natural thought process. Just cause she said that doesn't mean it happened that way

that quote is from Rachael Pope...

Ah, it sounded like you meant Cheryl Conner said that.

There's a natural human tendency to want somebody to pay for the bad and evil things that happen. One wants revenge and restitution. It can make it hard to accept that a beloved person died from a mistake or an accident. I lost a good friend because he tried to cross a busy highway on a rainy night rather than walk the extra half mile to the safe crosswalk. He and his wife were having domestic issues at the time. Maybe it made him careless. Sometimes I'd like to think that she pushed him into traffic instead of that random chance deprived the world of a good man and his children of a father.

I see what you're saying and considering she knows her mother pretty well coupled with the stories/alibis , I can also see why should would say that.

We don't know for a fact that Robin went or fell in the water. While I agree that for Rachel, it's a natural thought process to not think it happened that way, it could of happened just that way. Unfortunately, until we know the results of the autopsy, we don't have an answer as to what exactly caused Robin's death.

Maybe, and it's just speculation on my part, Rachael has a hard time believing her mother went or fell in the water because of the many years her mother had lived there, nothing of that nature ever had occurred in the past. Couple that with the fact that the dog died as well, and that the neighbor said on video something to the effect of Robin and Bella did not routinely play on the pier, and the mention earlier in this thread that Bella was deathly afraid of the water. Rachel would know the habits of her mother and Bella.

I also doubt Rachael has been told much as to not jeopardize the investigation but she has a right to her own speculation about what may have occurred that night. That's also not to imply that she thinks her father is culpable, for all we know she could suspect someone else. There was a another woman and a dog that were killed in that area shortly after Robin went missing. In addition, Rachel being close to the situation, she would also know the habits and more recent behavior of her father which may or may not be unusual. When thinking about what Rachel said to the reporter, we have to consider all of this and more because Rachael is inside the situation and obviously has more insight than any of us would.

Snips from report:
"An autopsy done on Robin Pope's body turned up no obvious signs of trauma that would explain how the Stevensville woman died." ......

" Maryland State Police spokesman Greg Shipley wouldn’t comment about what the medical examiner found during the autopsy, which he said is on-going. But Shipley did say, “Investigators are still searching for the cause and manner of death”......

"there has been no final ruling from the medical examiner’s office, but he indicated samples were taken and more tests are being conducted. Those tests include toxicology, which could indicate whether anything out of the ordinary was in Pope’s system on the night she died."

Just to clarify that other woman and dog were both stabbed to death and its about a 40 minute drive apart. Davidsonville and Stevensville I wouldn't count as being in the same area
