I agree. It's odd that, with all of the accusations and subtle inferences against JD, that his mother and sister, at least, would not come to his defense. IF he's responsible for Ayla's disappearance, the silence would throw suspicion on the other adults in the household as accessories. I've thought about the possibility of Ayla being gone before the missed doctor's appointment, which would certainly cast suspicion on all of the adults. But, what if the other adults were told that Ayla had been returned to her mother, so they assumed she was safe? The news that Ayla was missing, believed abducted from the home, would be such a shock. I think they would want to distance themselves from the whole situation.
I'm not accusing anyone; just considering the possibilities. I'm sure LE have interviewed the mother and sister, and anyone else in the house earlier in the evening to verify Ayla had been there prior to the day she was reported missing. All moo.
