A lab named Quincy trained to detect specific human scents tracked Kerry Lear's trail from the convenience store where she was last seen on January 22nd to Dover, New Hampshire. Police believe she made several stops along the way including at a convenience store in Dover.

Sanford police plan on reviewing the surveillance footage from the security cameras after Quincy hit on Rear's scent in the Dunkin Donuts drive through behind the store. Her trail went on for a quarter of a mile but police had to suspend the search because of safety concerns.

Friday morning police retraced Rear's trail at this convenience store then Quincy followed her scent down Rte 4. The dog abruptly switched to the driver's lane his handler says Rear had been on foot but Quincy tracked it [to] a car.

The 12 year old lab then followed it through the Berwicks before stopping at this convenience store in Rollinsford. Quincy picked up Rear in the store and in the women's restroom but surveillance footage initially didn't turn up Rear, but police plan to review it in real time.

Police say they plan to focus their search in the Dover area and says Quincy's scent skills could be a game changer and potentially lead them to Rear.

GO QUINCY!! :loveyou:

An article from WMTW said she may not have taken her prescribed medication. She also had some issues with DUI's in the past couple of years in Kittery, ME and Dover, NH. Wonder if she knows someone in Dover that she's with now? Kittery isn't far from Dover, perhaps she's in Kittery? If she was disoriented enough she may have tried to go back to a place she previously resided. http://www.wmtw.com/article/police-seek-help-in-finding-missing-sanford-woman/8654731 http://www.fosters.com/article/20141106/GJNEWS03/141109653 http://ourkittery.com/2014/12/kittery-police-department-logs-from-11-19-2014-to-12-2-2014/ http://ourkittery.com/2015/09/kittery-police-department-log-09162015-to-09222015/

Local coverage has somewhat ended - someone stated there is a pretty large pond near where she lived. Seems to obvious - I can't find any news of an underwater search. Also there is a river nearby but from the sounds of it she was headed down Rte 4 towards the pond as Dublin Donuts is south of the Lil Mart.

We just got hit with a blizzard with more on the way tomorrow. Temps are also in the minus with the wind chill. I wouldn't expect any ground or water searches for some time. :(

Seems to have been a short press conference, nothing new.

Police held a press conference Tuesday on a Sanford woman who has been missing for more than three weeks.

Police say earlier this month a tracking dog followed her trail to Dover, New Hampshire.

They believe the 40-year-old got into a vehicle and made several stops in New Hampshire.

Police called for any witnesses to come forward and help them locate Rear.

Afterwards her parents spoke.

I can't watch the video. Maybe there's more in it? If someone wants to have a look ...

Why did no one call the authorities when she was in multiple stores disoriented and wet with no shoes??? This upsets me. I feel like we have a responsibility to one another in situations like this!

I can't watch either hubby is asleep. This was posted 2 hours ago same news team but appears to have a little more info/plea for finding Kerry.

They are asking anyone who drives through that area to think back if they saw Kerry on the road hitchhiking, walking or getting into a vehicle.

They are also asking people who live in the area to check their out buildings, their sheds or any disabled cars they may have in their yard.

They say they believe there was a series of events that piled up, overwhelming Kerry, and that she just couldn't deal with it any more, leading her to become disoriented.

Reward apparently now up to $10,000.

Police in Maine held a press conference on Tuesday announcing a $10,000 reward for information about a local woman who has been missing for more than three weeks.

<snip>

Her family initially offered $5,000 for information on her whereabouts, but the reward has since increased to $10,000.

"In a brief but emotional news conference Tuesday, Kenneth and Sheila Rear of Bradenton, Florida, said that although their 40-year-old old daughter, Kerry Rear, had struggled with alcoholism and an unspecified mental illness, she always stayed in touch with her family."

"The family said that a combination of circumstances had recently come to a head, causing great stress for Rear, although they declined to describe them. The result seemed to be some sort of mental break with reality, Kenneth Rear said."

It has snowed a lot this past week and we are expecting more tonight, I pray she is somewhere warm and safe...
