Separately, an attorney for Casey's parents on Thursday sought to clarify statements to a CNN reporter in which he implied George and Cindy Anthony no longer think their daughter is Innocent.

"clear any misunderstanding" that came from his conversation with CNN reporter Gary Tuchman, but the statement didn't deny the claim in Tuchman's report Wednesday evening.

Lippman's statement said Cindy and George "simply want justice in this case."

Lippman also said George and Cindy still love Casey, and they will do "all they can" to stop her from being sentenced to death.

In July 2008, days after Cindy called 911 to report Caylee missing, Cindy told WFTV Casey did something.

"For whatever she's done, everybody, she has done something OK? She's holding back or whatever it is, otherwise Caylee would be right here with us. So she has done something. So, I forgive her for whatever that is," Cindy told reporter Kathi Belich in 2008.

Testimony Continues After Casey's Mom Shocks Court

Casey Anthony's murder trial continues on Friday, a day after her mother surprised prosecutors, testifying that she had conducted Internet searches on chloroform on their home computer.
Cindy Anthony's testimony on Thursday directly contradicted prosecutors' theory that Casey was the one who made the Internet searches.

She testified as truthfully today as she did when she testified for the state of Florida,” said attorney Mark Lippman.

Lippman said Cindy Anthony’s memory is now better because of medication.

Cindy also said stains in the trunk of Casey's car were present when the family bought the car in 2000.

He said that the Anthony's support Casey, and he nor they will comment on whether they believe Casey is innocent or guilty. That is the reason why they attend each hearing, to learn the truth. George Anthony maintains he never molested Casey or had anything to do with Caylee. They don't believe the defenses theory. And they don't believe anything the state has not proven yet. He also said that Cindy did not lie on the stand yesterday, that all she said on the stand she said in her deposition.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Jose Baez showed jurors a series of photos Friday of Caylee climbing a ladder into the above-ground pool as Cindy Anthony, supported her from behind.

They hope this will bolster their argument that Caylee drowned and wasn't murdered.

Lee Anthony gets emotional on stand while talking about stains in trunk of car

A sometimes sobbing and emotional Lee Anthony testified, saying he recalled that stains were in the trunk of the Pontiac Sunfire when he purchased the car. He could not remember if he made additional stains in the trunk.

Lee Anthony broke down on the stand after explaining he felt excluded from his family about Casey's pregnancy.


Baez asked Lee Anthony about when he realized his sister was pregnant.

"I could see her midsection and it was showing," Lee Anthony said. He said he asked her, "Excuse me, what the hell is that?"

But Casey waived him off.

He asked their mother about whether Casey was pregnant.

"'Looks that way to me,'" Lee Anthony recalled his mother saying.


Caylee's clothing

Linda Drane Burdick quizzed Cindy Anthony about the shorts found with Caylee Marie's remains.

Baez earlier said the shorts found with the body were too small for Caylee to be wearing at the time of her death.

Burdick's line of questioning is meant to show Caylee could have fit into the shorts that were found with her remains by June 2008 when she went missing.

Pool testimony
Cindy Anthony said that during her daughter's release from jail between August and October 2008, Casey Anthony never mentioned an accidental drowning. Instead, she continued to assert that the babysitter or nanny had taken Caylee M. Anthony.

Prosecutors said Casey Anthony killed her daughter. Duct tape has been described as the murder weapon.

ORLANDO --We asked a grief expert whether they are trying to hide their emotions, or if there's something else behind their reactions.


Grief expert Holly Fox Vellekoop said they are not only mourning the death of Caylee, but also grieving the situation with their daughter.

"I can see the pain on their faces, and I believe it's real," said Vellekoop. "They are suffering. It's excruciating, but then to look at their daughter and see how she is responding."

Casey Anthony's defense plans to rest next week

When prompted by Judge Perry for an estimate Friday afternoon, Baez said he expected to wrap up his case by Wednesday or Thursday, June 29 or 30.

Judge Perry had told jurors he expected the trial to last six to eight weeks.

Linda Drane Burdick told the judge she expected to take no longer than one to two days for their rebuttal.

Judge Perry then asked lawyers on both sides how long they needed for closing arguments.

The state said it would need a half-day for theirs.

Baez ask for 4 closing arguments, using 4 lawyers.

Cindy testified that she saw the pool ladder had been left down on June 16, 2008. Prosecutor Linda Drane Burdick pointed out that Cindy had changed her testimony on that subject in prior testimony and depositions.

In cross-examination Friday afternoon, prosecutor Jeff Deen accused Lee of supporting the defense, while refusing to meet with prosecutors ahead of his testimony.

Ashton questioned Lee’s emotional responses and memory as compared to his prior testimony and deposition.

“Lee doesn’t want to give up his sister,” said veteran prosecutor and defense attorney Jeff Deen, who also provides legal analysis for WESH 2 News.

“At the end of the day I think (Lee) was a wash,” said Hornby.



Legal experts believe the defense will call Kronk to the stand, whom the defense claims moved Caylee’s remains to the final place they were found.

Perry asked Baez when he believed the defense would rest its case. Baez estimated Wednesday or Thursday.


Judge Perry projected that he may read the jury instructions on July 2, meaning deliberations could begin that day.

Meaning, if jury has the case by July 4, even though a holiday, deliberations would take place.

When I stare at that blank face of Casey Anthony, I peer into something that —if she did it — is as frightening as it is strange: a lack of remorse, an absence of conscience, an inability to understand the stakes.


In case you’ve spent the last month under a rock, Anthony, 25, of Orlando, is charged with the 2008 murder of her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee. That simple summary, however, doesn’t begin to convey the carnival atmosphere surrounding the trial.

The Anthony case has all the ingredients for a prime-time soap: lies, treachery, dysfunctional family ties and the threat of a death sentence. The characters, too, are captivating in their own creepy, middle-class, middle-of-the-road way. The inexpressive Anthony is photogenic, the girl next door scrubbed free of innocence; her murdered daughter was an adorable tot whose smile tugs at the tightest heart strings.

Add to that mix dueling expert witnesses, tongue lashings by an irascible judge, accusations of incest, a love-hate relationship between the defendant and her mother, a defense-team contention that the little girl drowned in the family pool — and, voila, instant blockbuster.

Geraldo: Jose Baez who expressed deep frustration over what he believes to be rulings from the bench that limit his ability to make the abuse argument, however implausible. He also told me he expects to wrap his case by Wednesday, which with the prosecution’s rebuttal case means this will not be over until after the July 4 holiday.

How the sequestered jury is going to react to the blown holiday will be interesting to see.

I also spoke to prosecutor Jeff Ashton, who just told the judge as court was recessing for the day that he needs a full day for closing arguments and that he “thinks he can keep the jury awake.” Stay tuned.
