This article provides a good explanation of how this situation developed from a letter to a lawsuit. Of course some of it is opinion but it was written well on balance. I recommend it for anyone with only a passing knowledge of what’s transpired.
The Queen must be very angry re this.I thought it was odd that they wouldn't let the court proceedings be delayed yesterday (when the MOS offered) given the circumstances the world finds itself in but now I'm wondering is all of this part of a PR strategy, they need the case wrapped up asap so then they can talk about private things like the relationship with TM in the authorised biography due to come out in August
MM didn’t make a mistake. The press has acted with spitefulness in order to profit from the visibility of the royal family. It’s a clear demonstration of the press’s desire for profit.
I am hopeful MM will prevail for the benefit of all of us concerning our need for privacy and specifically for her family.

The Sun UK revealed that Scobie sold articles to The Sun about her - one of the papers on their Ignore list, so he may soon be her ex favorite journalist...The biography reveal is especially interesting given that Omid Scobie has said things that sounded like they came from talking with Meghan which directly contradict the statements they've put forward in their case about the letter being private and not believing it would be leaked

"Omid Scobie, Royal contributor for American network ABC’s Good Morning America, believes Meghan had this in mind when she was writing the letter.
According to Mr Scobie, Meghan knew her letter would be leaked to the public via her father and used it as a chance to “set the record straight”.
The royal contributor said: “While the purpose of Meghan’s letter was very much to repair the relationship with the father, she knew in her heart of heart’s that this was going to be released to the papers.
“Thomas has a record of this. This is exactly the man she knows.
“So, many of those things in that letter were written with the public in mind. She very much wanted to set the record straight.”"
Amen!!

Meghan Markle suffers massive setback after judge throws out multiple claims against Mail on Sunday | Daily Mail Online
“Associated Newspapers will also ask the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to pay their costs of in excess of £50,000 after the couple refused their offer to deal with the issue out of court to save the High Court having to set up an online hearing during the coronavirus crisis. Meghan's costs are said to have been £60,000-plus”

I’ve been torn between “let it go”, and “fight the behemoth”- which helps everyone if you win, and makes it worse for everyone if you lose. But ultimately, at this point I think they are doing more damage to their marital goodwill than what it’s worth. And if they ever divorce... media will be brutal and long-term. They should stay the hell away from Hollywood, media & spotlight & carve a new path. Jmo, moo...
I guess from now on every letter & post card one writes needs to have that little “c” in the circle with your name, the date & the words “may not be reprinted without express written permission”. Good grief. These media ppl need to just <modsnip>. Mo. This isn’t about H&M...Basically the papers were dishonest, but that is allowed and privacy will be only consideration.
"The judge, Mark Warby, ruled that the newspaper would not be judged on whether it had acted dishonestly; had stirred up conflict between Meghan, who is also known as the Duchess of Sussex, and her father, Thomas Markle; or had published offensive and intrusive articles about the duchess.
Instead, Justice Warby said, the court would decide only whether the publication of the letter had violated her privacy. The duchess’s law firm, Schillings, said she would press forward with the case but expressed disappointment that the judge did not consider the newspaper’s motives relevant."
