Belgian Auschwitz survivor Henri Kichka dies of Covid-19 at the age of 94. Auschwitz survivor Henri Kichka dies of Covid-19

It was interesting to read about this man. He wrote a memoir in French titled "Une adolescence perdue dans la nuit des camps" about his experiences during WWII in the camps. I don't think it has been translated into English.

The BBC article (linked above) says that after he returned to Belgium, Kichka and his wife had a family of four children, nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. His son Michel announced Henri's death on Facebook and wrote (English translation): "A small microscopic coronavirus has succeeded where the entire Nazi army had failed. My father had survived the Death March, but today his Life March has ended."

I have tried to find information on people in North Carolina (where I live) who have died due to the coronavirus. There doesn't seem to be a "faces of the coronavirus" type of website here. The News & Observer (Raleigh) has an unusually large number of death notices and obituaries in the paper today, but it's hard to tell whether any are COVID related. I read some of the obituaries and a few mentioned that the person died from cancer, heart failure, etc., but many don't mention a cause of death.

I know three people my age or a little older (mid 70s) who have died this month, but their deaths were not related to the virus, AFAIK.

Sorry for your loss @anneg. I also noticed not all obituaries have the virus listed as cause of death.
In my local newspaper, they are listing the names and where they lived at the time of their death. Whicursing homes, rehabiltaion centers, or assisted living and most are not listed as dying from COVID. There are so many obituaries too, as you said.
