I recently saw a FB post of a horror story that happened to a couple in Cancun at Oleo Cancun Playa All Inclusive Resort. If you look up the resort on FB I think you can find the story.

Hope Robert is okay. Mexico is a scary place to visit right now.
There's also this article in the Milwaukee Sentinel about people being drugged at resorts - scary.

yes but how does that help find him?

he's not with them ... he's wandering around by himself dazed
How do we know they are not with him? How do we know he isn’t getting drugs from them? Then or now? Theives know where they can use cards and not get caught right away. They have to start somewhere. I thought looking at banking transactions would be a start.

IF he’s still alive, he is probably holed up in a drug den. That sounds so harsh, I know, but it happens. He’s a wealthy American, yes he was robbed, but was he able to get back to his home and get more cash?

because the reporter picked him up after the robbery and called the police and ambulance for him ... he had no belongings, not even shoes

Agree, and IMO, most importantly, he appeared at that time and in later sightings, to have genuinely lost important parts of his memory/ability to function. I don't think he was high.

I wanted to note, family/friends report his odd behaviour started as soon as he left them for LA airport:

-he stopped all contact with friends, including one he'd phoned and texted with multiple times a day.
- Hasn't posted on FB altho he used to post at least every couple of days
-Missed his flight to Cancun on the 18th, took a nonsensical route and arrived on the 20th.
-Sometime 'soon' after arriving made a panicked, bizarre phonecall to his ex-wife saying he'd been robbed...(but never contacted the Embassy)...
-Missed his appointment with the real estate agent he'd come to Cancun to meet
- Was missing until 9 days after he arrived, when picked up by a Mexican reporter from the street, with no possessions, very confused, not asking to go anywhere or give the name of anyone to contact, and, in the video, with small cuts and 'lesions' on his skin, but no apparent bruises or complaints about violence.
-Left the hospital instead of getting further assistance from the police, or contacting the embassy.
- Has been seen since, wandering the urban, Mexican city of Cancun (population 1 million), exactly like a homeless, mentally-ill person in any big US city.

Can you explain where you found this data:
I wanted to note, family/friends report his odd behaviour started as soon as he left them for LA airport:

Where exactly was he then? I believe that last connection with his friend was at a conference in LA. So this behavior was while still in LA?

Where exactly was he then? At the hotel/resort where he was staying??
Nobody knew where he was after his arrival at the airport.

It's summarized from the MM linked above:

"They attended a gala together in Los Angeles June 17th..Sosa says Cantrell later boarded a flight for Cancun, Mexico from Los Angeles..Sosa hasn’t heard from him since, and that's unusual..." Friends say missing Jacksonville man last seen in Cancun

He "was supposed to get on a flight from [LA] to Cancun June 18."

"We know that he made it to Cancun on the 20th. But his flight path makes like no sense whatsoever,” Lauren said.

"Shortly after he arrived, his family says he made a very panicked phone call to his ex-wife saying his belongings were stolen and that he was trying to get back to Jacksonville."

"He "was last seen June 20 at the Cancun International Airport according to a law enforcement agency in Mexico.

"Robert was meeting with a real estate agent to check out a property in Mexico but never showed for his appointment."

The only info they next received was the reporter"s video posted on FB (where Robert clearly states his full name)

"He doesn’t have a shirt on doesn’t have shoes, as reported in that video,” Lauren said. “He just, he couldn’t even speak in like coherent sentences. And the things that he was saying were just not true. His eyes looked like crazed. I think there’s something wrong. He also had like lesions on his body.”

Family don't seem to know or don't mention where he intended to stay. In his talk with the reporter on the video he mentioned Cozumel and Playa del Carmen. These are places where expats own homes (like he was interested in doing), rather than staying a week at an all-inclusive resort. Those places have nice, smaller hotels, too.

(I know non-resort Mexico fairly well).

On his private FB page, he shows pictures of a house in Mexico with large wall murals. His daughter stated that he was to meet with a realtor but failed to make the appointment.
I'm confused. Was he looking to purchase another property?

On June 13, he posts "My home in Ajijic", which is near Guadalajara, a three-hour flight from Cancun.

"He was going to see a property in Cancun," Sosa said. "He wanted to see it because he liked it. That’s what he does. He buys properties." Friends say missing Jacksonville man last seen in Cancun

Not unusual to have a house on the beach, and a house on a lake, up where it's cooler. And then his whatever kind of house/apartment in the US, where he has family/friends.

Thank you. I appreciate your response.

If you scroll down further on his FB page, he talks about buying/renovating a different property (not the one with the large wall murals). I get the feeling he was purchasing/renovating/selling properties in addition to the wall mural home he owns there.

The part about missing the flight and then taking a nonsensical route to Mexico makes me think whatever happened to him to cause the confusion and memory loss may have happened while he was still in Los Angeles. Did he have a mental health crisis on the 18th in Los Angeles, miss the flight, somehow pull himself together enough to get on a plane on the 20th to get to Cancun, but then in his confused state ended up in a vulnerable situation in which he was robbed? MOO

I looked online, and there is such a thing as mental illness (MI) having a sudden onset later in life. One example is "late-onset or latent schizophrenia." So IMO MI appears possible, along with other possibilities already discussed. All of the possibilities make him very vulnerable, sadly.

My husband had a stroke once, and the only physical change was a mental change much like what I saw in Robert's interview with the reporter.

My husband was looking quite healthy, was upbeat, but was covering up his missing cognizant abilities, quite suddenly. I knew something wasn't right, others weren't sure... But I took him to our primary care doctor, who we had just been with the Friday before this Monday morning when I took him in.

When my husband saw the doctor he said, "hey there, don't I know you"???? Doc and I knew for sure, and more tests were done.

It ended up to be deep seated vasular strokes--like the intermost ending of all nerve endings in deepest recesses of the brain. Just part of our road to the end.

Only adding this doc as a source including vascular strokes. I DID have a lot to learn so much back then, but am certain no one really needs this here to find our dear man, Robert.
