Thank you. We're supposed to be "victim friendly" on this forum. Suggesting that Ally had an eating disorder or some type of addiction seems cruel and unwarranted. The young woman is dead - the victim of a heinous murder. Ally and her family deserve compassion and respect.

Thank's Bette, I don't know when that was but when you see the video of her bouncing across there about to give her little speech she looked as vibrant as can be, both physically and emotionally. So physically capable that I think she damn near saved herself given the # of shots spent vs wounds described. I try to be cautious and selective in my push back so that wasn't a dig at anyone in particular but I've sensed a theme here lately in the amount of work she put in being let's say, overly obsessed about. I can walk over 3 miles in an hour so she could probably run the 10 in 1.5? idk , ya'll are all doing a good job, carry on.

Given that she was a serious runner, did she ever compete or have running partners or belong to any clubs? (E.g. the one that organised the memorial)
Did she have any running rivals?

Man who ran same trail as slain jogger has gone missing
“I’ve seen him for three years, four or five days a week … but I haven’t seen him since [the murder],” Mr Vetrano said.

Mr Vetrano described the man as being between 30 and 35 years old, 175cm and 68kg with black hair parted to the side.

“He has a really strange stride,” said Mr Vetrano, who is a retired firefighter.

“In the wintertime, he would wear black gloves and a black cap. In the summer, he might run shirtless. He is very, very fit. Not a weightlifter, but extremely fit. Somebody must know who this is.”

FWIW: Here's a link for graduating class lists from Holly High School. Ally was born in 1984 and would have graduated high school in 2001 or 2002. I don't see her name on any of the class lists but I suppose this could mean that she didn't register on the "Friends" site with her classmates. Holly High School class lists - contact old friends

They have caught the killers in the other two cases but not the killer of Ally. Not sure who this guy is being talked about though.

Since I am the one who first mentioned a possible eating disorder or exercise bulimia issue, please let me clarify.

I felt like we were taking one statement (10 miles a day, every day) as fact without thinking further about how her running itself may have more to do w/ whatever led to someone shooting her. This is not in itself “victim bashing.” It could potentially be a factor that I had not seen previously discussed.

I came to WS bc of the Nancy Cooper case, a runner who was a friend of a friend.

Women should be safe to run solo. Runners also often have “communities” specific to running. I had a total stranger come up to me after a race one day and say, “I finally beat you!” I had no idea who she was, or that she’d been near me in any races. For her, there was a friendly rivalry that I didn’t know existed.

Runners can mask eating disorders, too. This was only mentioned bc that could possibly maybe be an angle we have not heard about. I don’t think we’re getting a full picture of Ally’s personality fm either the parents or the bf. I meant no ill will in any way to her.

I want to see this case solved, and if there’s something that might shed a new light somewhere, it might help.

Even if she did have an eating disorder, I cannot see in any way, how it could have any effect on her murder.
I am also not sure how her personality could give us any clues to who murdered her.

Now that sent chills down my spine.

ETA: nvm. This is talking about the jogger in Ms. Vetrano’s murder case. Nothing close to alex’s case since that was NYC and this is Michigan.

If we are going to consider circles of ppl she interacted with, we know Home, Work, schooling, and running. How she interacted with ppl in those circles (how often, if at all) might give us more to consider than bf/Family.

..."Everyone is in the game," said Lt. Shaw.

Including Wes Sutherland, an ex-boyfriend Ally had lived with for nearly two years before they broke up three months before her murder. Sutherland also worked as an aide at the same hospital as Ally while studying to be a nurse like her, and he had reportedly remained friendly with Ally after the split.

"So being that this is an open investigation, he's a suspect," said Lt. Shaw.

Police had grown suspicious of Wes Sutherland from the first time they interviewed him, believing he was lying and withholding information.

"We know that sometimes he's not absolutely truthful, but maybe he's not absolutely truthful with everybody, not just us," said Lt. Shaw...

@Combatmedic2121 I'm not sure if you've already answered this but can you tell us why LE said you are not "thruthful"?

Thanks.

@Combatmedic2121 I'm not sure if you've already answered this but can you tell us why LE said you are not "thruthful"?

Thanks.

Let me try unpacking this...

First, this is something I’ve heard from LE personally dozens of times during interviews and questioning.
They continuously told me I was lying to them or withholding information from them, mainly in the very beginning.

Every time I’ve confronted them directly and asked what the hell they thought I was lying about or not telling them, they would just always say something like, “You tell us!” They would never give any actual examples of course; Nor did they give any in that interview.
After awhile, hearing them repeatedly call me a liar, it just turned into meaningless white noise for me and I told them that.

So where is all this coming from?

I really think that LE botched this entire case from the beginning. I believe the first lead detective for Ally’s case had a very difficult time accepting that it really wasn’t “the boyfriend” this time.
Even after days, then weeks, of investigating me and finding absolutely nothing, I still got the impression from him that he felt like if he just looked long and hard enough something would eventually turn up.
Obviously nothing ever did, or will, because I would never have hurt Ally, let alone kill her! Ally honestly meant the world to me... and my world was absolutely crushed the day she was killed, and that’s exactly how it still feels to this day.

Eventually that first lead detective was transferred off Ally’s case...
Now there was a new lead detective ready to look at the case with fresh eyes... but I honestly fear that it was just too late!
So much time had already passed. For months... So many people overlooked, or not thoroughly investigated (including Franz and Nikki). So many people not questioned, or not even talked too!

I believe THIS is exactly why LE have found themselves in the position that I believe they’re currently in...
I think they have someone that they VERY strongly suspect to be Ally’s killer... but because it’s this late in the game, I believe they’re struggling to compile enough evidence to Gaurentee a conviction in court.
The only thing that gives me any hope at all is that LE definitely seem confident that they eventually will have enough for a conviction... hopefully!

Now... would Lt. Shaw (LE public relations officer) ever admit to the public that LE kinda screwed this investigation up from the beginning?
Of course not!
Shaw wouldn’t be very good at his job if he admitted THAT. So he’ll completely deny any mistakes were ever made and then probably just call me a lair again...
Which, like I said earlier, is absolutely meaningless to me at this point coming from him.

Thanks for coming back, @Combatmedic2121.

I have one question;

You shared with us earlier that Ally was supposed to meet you at your apartment the morning of the day she was murdered.

May I ask why she ended up not coming over? Did something come up on Ally’s end, and if so, did she say what it was? I’m wondering if the sudden change in plans had anything to do with what happened later in the day.

It would be helpful to know when Ally was supposed to meet Wes at the apartment they had shared at one time.

Was Ally going to the apartment immediately after their overnight shift ended at 7:00AM?

Or...

Was Ally driving back to Holly to get a couple hours of sleep and then heading to the apartment to meet Wes?

We had originally planned on her coming over after work Saturday morning and us spending the rest of that weekend together because we were both off work for the following 3 days.
But then my schedule got changed and I ended up having to be back at work that Saturday night but she was still off.

So rather than her coming over Saturday morning and then just sitting at my apartment alone Saturday night while I worked, we shifted our plans to have her come over on either Sunday or Monday evening instead.
We made this change Friday night while we were both at work so it was last minute. I’ve thought a lot about how this could have any relation to what happened that Saturday.

For example, Ally was killed down the street from her parents house on a day that she hadn’t originally planned on being at her parents house.
Could this have any relation to what happened? Does this tell us anything? I honestly just don’t know.
Who did Ally tell about our last minute change of plans? Did she tell her parents? We’re they even expecting her to be home that day? Or did they just find out when she showed up at the house that Saturday morning?
Lots of questions without any answers unfortunately.

Maybe Shaw was alluding to the fact that Wes failed one lie detector test, and a second polygraph was inconclusive.

Right, Shaw said this in context regarding the failed polygraph. How can someone fail a polygraph and yet possibly be innocent?

Shaw’s explanation was basically that just because someone lied to us on a polygraph doesn’t mean they’re a killer, people lie all the time.
What Shaw should have said (if he was being honest) was that just because we tell someone they failed a polygraph right before trying to pressure them into confession doesn’t mean that they actually did fail, or that they’re a killer, or that they’re a liar. Nor does actually failing a polygraph mean someone’s a liar or murderer. We consider the polygraph strictly a tool for interrogation. It is in no way a reliable or scientific investigative tool.

But Shaws never going to admit all that to the public. It’s in LE’s best interest for the public to keep believing they have some magical device that can tell when people lie.
And to be honest, I agree that it probably is. I can imagine how useful it must be for them during the interrogation process.

Nikki said that the trip to Florida was going to be sometime in August.

I got sidetracked after I went to look for link. Sorry!

...“At the time of her murder, Ally was planning an August 2016 trip to Florida to visit a guy she had casually dated several years ago,” Nikki said. “I have a pile of clothes she purchased for that trip with the tags still attached.”...
