I heard the confirmation that the remains are those of Brenna while I was in my car running errands. This is so :( and senseless.

:rose: Rest in peace, Joe. :rose: Rest in peace, Brenna. :rose:

So very sorry to hear this. My prayers to the families and their friends.

I don't know if this was mentioned but I'm looking at both the witness/shopper and the POI pictures. She was already in the store when he came in correct? Then why is there a cart when he comes in and not when she leaves, that I can see. Who took the cart after he came in? IMO. I hope i'm making sense.

It appears that HE walked over and took the cart... IMO

Do we know what time they officially closed? Was it 9:00? Reason I ask is our local Dollar General closes at 9:30 p.m. in the winter months and 10:30 p.m. in the summer months, but they are two totally different companies.

At first I thought it could be one of those pool floats inflated, then upon enlarging it, it does appear to be a person (rather large in my opinion) in a red shirt. You can see the bottom of the jeans and possibly shoes. :twocents: Hmmmmm....

I think its Joe..... IMHO

I'm going to go back and look at videos and see if I can tell what is located there??? I believe its the Cash Registers and coolers. Someone on FB verified this thought when they stated the perp walked in and walked the opposite direction of the Registers. So they must be familiar withe the store.

Wow Good find!

IIRC, the link posted upstream said 9:00 close time (looking for link).

<edit: here's the link:>

It appears the address of Family Dollar in Dearborn is 22631 Newman Avenue (so the article listing the street as Michigan Ave is wrong?)

Here's the store (notice comment):
https://plus.google.com/102310394068864286976/about?gl=us&hl=en

"22631 Newman St Dearborn, MI 48124‎

(313) 274-0723 familydollar.com
$Department Store, Dollar Store Today 9:00 am – 9:00 pm"

not sure if this was mentioned...but there is a cart on the left in one of the pictures, but not in the other. Is the other lady the one that took the cart?

I can't remember if I read this or imagined it, but was JO found dead in the bathroom? If so, I'm thinking the perp hid in the bathroom and had locked the door. Once JO or BM realized it was locked and no one was supposedly in it, he grabbed the key to open it up to clean it as is their usual duty during closing time.

So at aprox 7:37 (19:36:44) the doors are open and the lady in red exits while someone else wearing red appears to be standing near the front windows.

At 7:50 according to BB on fb her sister is banging on the doors which are locked and she then calls the store manager to come check it out, which the manager blows off as "probaly just using the bathroom"

I'm going to guess that the store lights were still on at this time, since I don't think a customer is going to be banging on the glass if the store is dark.

Gosh I sure would like to see the "rest" of the video from that night.

I sure hope LE has been notified about this potential witness who was outside the store banging on the glass.

Dearborn police: Body found is missing Family Dollar worker

Serena Maria Daniels/The Detroit News

Dearborn — Authorities have identified the body of a woman found in a wooded area Thursday morning as Brenna Kathleen Machus, a worker at a Family Dollar Store who disappeared after an apparent abduction earlier this week.

The body of Machus, 20, of Romulus, was found at 8 a.m. Thursday, roughly two miles from where she vanished Monday night. On Tuesday, the body of one of her fellow workers, 20-year-old Joseph Orlando of Dearborn, was found by employees who discovered the discount store in disarray.

"I'm rather enraged that we have another homicide in Dearborn," Police Chief Ronald Haddad said Thursday.

Haddad said police were directed to the wooded area near after receiving a 911 call...

I believe that is the cart the perp took after entering the store.

I have looked at Family Dollars website/store locator and if you click on the markers on the map showing the location of each store it will give you the address and the store hours.

Yes this store officially closes at 9:00 PM

Enter 48124 for the zip code.

It doesn't feel good to have been right. I'm freaking out, actually. :( Looks like I nailed down the location within a few feet? This is not the first time this has happened with me here; I'm not sure if this is a talent I like having.

:blowkiss: Don't fault yourself for having good instincts, margarita. You're a super :websleuther:

:blushing:. Thanks BDE, you guys are awesome too!

Thank goodness this case didn't go cold like Jessica Heeringa's and Brenna was found quickly. The perp better hope LE gets to him before Brenna's brother does!

DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) — Police investigating the abduction of a 20-year-old woman from a discount store found her body Thursday in a wooded area in suburban Detroit, less than 2 miles away.

Brenna Machus, an assistant manager, was last seen Monday night at a Family Dollar store in Dearborn. A co-worker, Joseph Orlando, 20, was found fatally shot when other employees arrived for work Tuesday morning. He had been hired just last week.

The identity of the body was confirmed as Machus, said Nancy Hamood Strutz, assistant to Dearborn Police Chief Ron Haddad...

If you watch the video and stop it just as he takes the cart (00:14) and look at the suspects shoes and then compare them to the person who appears to be standing near the front of the store while the lady customer in red is exiting the store it looks like the same shoes. The jeans are covering up the white shoes and all you see is a little white of the soles. Is that the suspect standing there? Did he take off his coat and hoodie?

I am certain that all of us here hoped for a happier outcome. I truly appreciate everyone's contribution to this thread and for the fine efforts with maps, photos, video enhancement, etc.

I hope that there will be an arrest or arrests in this tragic case very soon. Whoever is responsible for these heinous murders needs to be held accountable so that there will be justice for Joe and Brenna.
