Many similarities...

Both from Michigan. Age may be off but that can be unpredictable. Jane Doe's body was found in extreme cold temperature, possibly delaying decomposition?

Hey There! We've got a thread on this Jane Doe here: http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?t=82234 Come over there and see the side by side pics of Ms. Peters and Jane. I, for one, think you may be right about this Jane being a match.... The abductor could've held Ms. Peters for awhile, ya never know! There's a new reconstruction of the Lake Erie Jane, too!

I have sent an e-mail to the proper authorities of both jurisdictions to see if there is a possible match. I'll post here regardless if there is a match or not. Here are the cases again:

I e-mailed the authorities of both jurisdictions regarding the Jane Doe I thought bore a strong resemblance to Dean Marie Peters numerous times without ever receiving a response. Not sure why as the never came back as non-deliverable, so I assume they got them. I even did a lot of extra searching on Google to find alternate contacts to submit this to. I've come to the conclusion that some departments have the resources to do follow-ups, while others do not. On the flip-side, some departments care about cold cases and some do not.

That Jane Doe from Texas & Dean bare such a strong resemblence, it's a shame that it is ignored.
Have you contacted the Kent County cold case team about this? They just opened Dean's case in 2008.

Dean's disappearence is one of those that makes you wonder if aliens didn't beam her up.

She goes to the bathroom and vanishes. It is just bizarre.

Kevmob,

I emailed Rocky Wells at Doe Network awhile back to see if the Michigan UID was compared to either Dean Marie or Cynthia Andersonhttp://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?t=70981&highlight=620ufmi.html and he said he has not heard from law enforcement either way if they are a match for either girl. (I guess at least he answered back). You would think that LE would be nice enough to let us know either way.

Dean's whole situation just saddens me. When I read it, it seems like a case that could have easily been solved. I also feel like she got lack of attention. Dissapearances like the Lyon Sisters or Polly Klaas took our nation by storm. How come Dean's didnt?

Jaycee Lee Dugard has been found....ALIVE! After 18 years, she marks a record as the longest held-in captivity-child in history.
This gives hope for Dean. I know we can find you.
Break the record Dean. Let's bring her home!!!

I saw this this morning on the local news...

Reward, new clues in Deanie Peters case

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Investigators trying again to solve the 1981 disappearance of 14-year-old Deanie Peters say they have learned that the girl was involved in an altercation a few days before she vanished, and want to talk to any witnesses.

The physical altercation involved other students and happened at the school, according to detectives.

After all these years, they've just found out about the altercation that happened before she disappeared? Unbelievable-this case should've been solved already.
I run her website, www.freewebs.com/find_dean_marie
I've made contact with her Aunt and I've been keeping in touch with her. Her aunt says she will search for her until the day she dies. Her Aunt is so inspiring and I will also never give up on Dean's case either. This is one that can be solved, they just need to get some of those students talking.
If any of you have a certain missing persons or children's case you'd like to see solved, please post them here.
I am trying to muster up a list to feature on my blog, and could use some help.

The missing diary of Deanie Peters

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - The former lead detective in the 1981 disappearance of 14-year-old Deanie Peters says a potentially key piece of evidence -- Deanie's diary -- is missing.

He also says that the man he believes was the lead suspect -- a former Lowell man who later moved to Kentucky -- died two years ago before cold-case detectives got a chance to interview him.

Former Kent County Sheriff's Sgt. Kenneth Kleinheksel, who has continued to work on the case even in his retirement, says the State Police cold-case team obtained a subpoena about a year ago forcing him to testify before a Kent County judge about the investigation and the whereabouts of the diary.

I'm glad the Police are looking into this again. However, I can help but think that their grasping at straws here. From the recent articles posted, this just reeks of shoddy police work from the start. And of course, non-communication. I hope they don't close this case because it is somewhat old just to get it off their books prematurely, like the Hollywood PD in FL did with the Adam Walsh case.

I agree 100%. It makes no sense for them to recently open it (in 2008) and close it.
