To his Texas neighbors, Timothy Dawson seemed like a nice enough guy, an indulgent father who spent a lot of time playing in the yard with his two young sons.
To Michigan authorities, he is a murder suspect with a history of domestic violence.
Dawson, 31, was arrested Friday evening at the Kerrville, Texas, mobile home he shared with his third wife and two sons, charged with murdering his second wife, Julia Dawson, of Sparta, three years ago.
Dawson is being held in the Kerr County jail 60 miles west of San Antonio and will face an extradition hearing Monday on first-degree murder charges in Michigan, Kerr County Sheriff Rusty Hierholzer said. Dawson did not resist when deputies arrived with the Michigan warrant, Hierholzer said, adding that his office has been cooperating with the Michigan investigation for about a year.
Julia Dawson's father, Kevin Keenan, of Ada, said his family was notified of Timothy Dawson's arrest Friday evening.
"Things are finally happening," he said. "It's been three years. It's been tough. It doesn't make anything right. It's going to help a little bit, but it never goes away."
