Here's where my mind is going at the moment after reading that press release.
Julia Niswender's step father has been arrested on suspicion of child *advertiser censored*. The child *advertiser censored* "community" is very well connected; they share/sell stuff. :cursing: He might not be the actual Perp in the Bruck disappearance, but he is now a known creepy guy that had a connection to her, who might have had other creepy friends who were involved.

This case is getting stranger and stranger....:nerves:

I saw this at Chelsea's thread this morning. Wow. I wonder if Julia stumbled across a picture or something. These guys share their sick pics on the net. It would be interesting to see what projects she was working on at school. These poor families.

UPDATE COLD CASE SPOTLIGHT: Julia Niswender

UPDATE (March 4th, 2015):

The stepfather of Julia Niswender has been named a person of interest in her murder, according to a statement released Wednesday by the Ypsilanti Police Department.

James Turnquist is currently in custody in the Monroe County jail on an unrelated child *advertiser censored* charge. The details of that case have not been released. Ypsilanti Police said in the statement they are aware of the charges and believe he has knowledge pertaining to his step-daughter's death...

They need to get Cell Phone records! He has probably gotten a new phone since Julia's murder.

What would be stepfather's motive to murder Julia? Was she going to blow the whistle on his activities and whom he was connected with (if indeed he was), or was it something to do with her personally? ...

I apologize to anyone close to this situation, however as an outsider looking in, and the charges he was arrested for; begs the question "was there any inappropriate behavior" when she was a child? That could have been a strong motive to silence her. Just my thoughts.

Was thinking that to... but since he was step-father, would he have been around then? Also  that it's strange LE could get him on child *advertiser censored* - would think he would have been extremely careful after Julia's death... LE has to have something significant to think he could be a POI in Julie's death. Hope it's more than just because he didn't give a statement about his activities when Julia was killed.

I believe in an article with her twin sister defending him, she said he took them in when they were 10 years old, but now I can't find that article.

Julia's father currently works for the company that I manage and is sporting Justice for Julia shirts and ribbons but has been very hush about anything else involving the case. I should also state that I see him once a week and he has remained very tight lipped from the beginning - although he appears on the outside to be holding it together well, his eye's tell the definite story of a devistated father.

MIMOMMY were you referring to bio dad or stepdad in this post?

oT - hubby and I are both EMU alums too

Julia's sister insists stepfather had nothing to do with her death. Supposedly he took and passed two lie detector tests. We all know they are not always accurate.

Just reviewing --- i missed this before ---> HE taught classes at a mix martial arts studio...!!!

ETA: that link also reports HE raised the girls since they were 10 years old.

ETA2: it also claims he had not provided a formal statement as to his whereabouts the days prior to Julia's death, THUS making him a POI. I'm with Steve, I hope (for the family's sake - surely they've been thru enough already) that it's just routine STS.

:please:

I am referring to her stepfather, Jim.

Yes Steve, I too read somewhere that he had raised the girls since they were 10 y/o which was had my mind reeling.

Typing out loud here, and wondering who Julia may have confided in (any of the Bruck sisters) that could have shared unsavory stories CB could have been privy to....pure speculation of course!

I am SO disturbed by this...and I can't figure out why on earth anyone in the family would be defending him - at the very least he was caught with child *advertiser censored*! That would have me silent right there!

Yes, she could have been one of his "models" that he was making money off of. Oh, I am so very sorry to suggest that. So horrid a thought, but one that must be considered. Oh the poor wife, she has already been through so much losing her daughter...

Hmm, this poor family. The person defending him seems like the last person on earth that should be defending him. That speaks volumes to me. Out of respect for the family I'm going to try to refrain from posting much about what I'm thinking until more facts are released.

Does anyone else wonder if the child *advertiser censored* charge is just a tactic LE is using to get him to answer questions about his whereabouts leading up to Julia's death?

Child *advertiser censored* is despicable but I know those websites also just "pop" up in even the most random searches.

I just wonder if he has been someone LE has had their eyes on for the murder but never had enough to force his hand into cooperating.

No, they must have evidence of him sending/selling, and it wouldn't be random pop ups. This would have to be serious.
