Rose....I have been in Monroe for work. It is easy to see that there is both an close "small town" feel to it in some area's. Unfortunately, you are correct that this small town group is the minority. There is a large population of...not great...people. I think this stems from the poverty level combined with the drug problem they are experiencing. They area also has a large number of RSO. Remember this is also very close to the same area where Niveah Buchanan's body was located. (Dundee) There are a few other....suspicious crimes that have occurred in the close area.

I have a different opinion. It seems to me the way the Monroe Community came together to find Chelsea Bruck, that the "small town group" is the majority. We came together recently to win a contest for an elementary school to get their playground improved. there are many examples if one wants to find them of the good things that happen in Monroe. The bad stuff happens everywhere, and yes it has grown in the area, but I personally believe Monroe County on a whole is still quite a nice place to live. It is not just the center of the city.... it is a entire county. Were you referring to just the city , MiMommy?

I do want to mention this as well, something to think about. When they came with a warrant in Feb. For the computers, cell phones, camera, video recorder (which surprised me that they even had a video recorder, for we sure had never seen them use it at parties or gatherings we attended, nor had they ever shared any videos with us of our grandkids growing up). Kim was home, JT was not, Kim would not let the cops in, she called JT to come home quick. When she did let the cops in, she asked them what the warrant was for? When They told her it was for the above mentioned items, because they had found child *advertiser censored* on the computer (Kim's computer) that they took in Dec. 2014. She immediately told the cops that SHE had come across child *advertiser censored* pop ups and had a hard time getting rid of them. The police said that sounded as if she was trying to make excuses and take the responsibility for the child Pornograpy being on her computer. So really it makes one wonder...

It almost sounds like you we there when to cops came to Kim's house. But if I understand correctly Kim was home alone at the time. When/where did police say that it sounded as if she were making excuses? Were you present at some of the court hearings?

Why was JT charged with child *advertiser censored* possession if the pictures were on his wife's computer?

True, there's the SM message that JT posted to the Michigan Sportsman Forums, a MichiganSportsman.com site. at 1:04 PM on 12/10/12, the day after Julia's murder. His message gives no indication of his location, or any details of the case, but he writes in strings of disjointed phrases with bad grammar and punctuation, as if he were distracted or intoxicated. Most of his posts are much better written and seem more lucid.

He has a half dozen posts to the site from October 2012 to December 2012, but only one, from 10/19/12 indicates that he was actually hunting that day, and it isn't clear where. (There are also earlier posts with indications of hunting dates and locations).

There were other posts with similar bad grammar. I think he sometimes posts from a handheld device. Because it is difficult to type and do punctuation on a handheld device, he resorts to a more tweet-style form of posting. People may notice that whenever I post from my iphone, punctuation and grammar get worse.

I have offered a possible theory where the motive was rage because of a rejection of sexual advances. Another possible motive could be related to drugs. For example, it could be that Julia not only confronted her roommate, but maybe also her supplier.

Ok, trying to redeem myself, my DH tells me that Christie Brinkley is from Monroe, which, according to him, makes it an exceptional place. So there you have it!

Also Monroe has a former Miss America, Kaye Lani Rae Rafko (-Wilson) was crowned the 61st Miss America in 1988. She does lots of excellent work with local charaties.

I would theorize that if Mr. Turnquist is the Perp, the attack most likely happened prior to him arriving at home. This is why I keep asking what time he came home on Dec 9 and Dec 10, and where he was prior to arriving at home. This man seems to move all over the Monroe and Ypisilanti map, literally, without accountability. (See Forager's map).

The portrayal of Mr. Turnquist becomes less favorable as this thread progresses. Does it make him a murderer? Not necessarily, no. Do I think LE is correct in naming him a POI? YES.

Why did Turnquist leave Kim at one point and a divorce was discussed? What was that all about?

Editing to add that Kim and Jennifer could have stated mistruths about the timeline to protect Turnquist. Why they would protect this sketchy character is unclear.

Dear Roses, you are right, just because JT is an odd and controlling guy, does not make him a murder, but until he 'fully cooperates with the detectives' we will never know if he murdered Julia or Chelsea.
Jim did not leave Kim, he wanted a divorce, said that he couldn't get past Kim having an affair. Which Kim admits to, she says she had the affair because JT wasn't there to fill her needs after her Brothers death (Jeff who took his own life in 2004) and of course after Julia's death. As I have mentioned in another post, Kim then went and stayed with her girlfriends Melissa & Pam who live in Monroe, that is where JT also went to stay when he posted bail. Not sure if he is still living with Melissa & Pam. Again their marriage was not the happiest, everyone that we know observed the strange marriage. Kim did share with us on more then a few occasions that she was not sure what was going to happen with their marriage. So I guess perhaps that is why we are so surprised to hear her and Jennifer say that they are behind JT on these child *advertiser censored* charges.
Note: our last conversation with Kim, she totally defends, and admits watching *advertiser censored*, thinks that all the poem that she says she has watched that you really could not definitely say the age of the people in the picture or movies. Never once in an over an hour phone conversation did she once act concerned about her or her husband or anyone watching *advertiser censored*. I was and am shocked, at her lack if concern about the possibility may have been with children or even her own daughters. !!!

I think as an outsider, for me, it's always the how can this happen aspect of things that has one wondering, what kind of mindset, circumstance, people would make decisions this way. What you've shared goes a long way toward that, and you ring true, to me. I hope all involved find some peace of mind and space to find themselves again in a true way as justice marches on. All these mothers, daughters and grand-daughters touched by Julia's unfolding case, and it's Mother's Day tomorrow, very sad.

And I stand behind my posts as being what I know to be truthful. I am a truth seeker and want nothing but the truth to show it self.

I am of the belief that they know more then they are letting on, and seemed to have NO problem with all the attention after Julia's death, until the investigation start knocking on their door.

The present lead detective is a real bulldog, she is definitely working for Julia. Kim was very close to the first detective, I believe to close, considering that now with JT being a POI, guess who Kim was going home and sharing all that pertinent information with JT!!!!
Note to all: early in the investigation, extended family was questioned and a computer was taken by detectives, given freely. But when Kim was asked about any computers, she told police that they didn't have any. Nor did the Turnquist ever allow or invite the police to come to their home. The police finally in Dec. 2014 served their first warrant and at that time the police took ONLY Kim's computer, the Turnquist had more then one computer JT had a lap top that has never been found. The computer that they took in Feb. 2015 with a search warrant was a newer computer, perhaps to replace the one taken in December. Now I ask you all, why would The Turnquist say that they have cooperated with the investigation, when they did not turn THEIR computers over when other family Grandma Rose, did? When we asked Kim since JT's arrest why the detectives never took their computers or investigated their home, Kim said ' I don't know Dad, you'd have to ask the police'. We did ask, and found out that they said originally that they didn't have a computer. And were never asked or welcomed to come to their home. That is what we have been told by investigators. Not my opinion, just sharing what we have been told.

My last visit was in January of this year. We try to visit at least 2 or 4 times a year.
We always stay in a motel for none of the family (Trojans) children have a place for us to stay. The Turnquist house only has two bedrooms, small home.

Trojan, that could be significant, IMO. While I'm sure LE grilled the roommates, I would press on this roomate who partook, and look for any suppliers who might have been exposed, and had issue with Julia.

Unlikely, but worthy of consideration I would think.

No, I am referring to the County in general. When I was in Monroe, I would have been at the court house and dealing with individuals who reside in that County.

Kim's sister that is also 100% behind JT, has never visited us. The youngest son Marcus was the first one to actually come down with a friend on his own accord, and has visited us a few times, but not for over 5 years. The twins have visited us 3 times. The Turnquist youngest & only child came down with Kim only that one time.
So we definitely have made more of an effort then Trojans kids have made.
I also realize that they work and have struggled financially. We have paid for and contributed to air fares to get the twins and Trojans son down.

I have heard there is another explanation for the lack of visits between the family. I say this only for the sake of stating that there are two sides to every story. I will not post the explanation I have been told in public forum as I do not wish to slam either side. But again, it is clear that the family dynamic here is extremely flawed.
