To me this seems to be about dealing drugs. Gangs will kill to protect their turf and money. If the dead bf and Lily were perceived to be infringing, that would be a very dangerous game to play. There's likely more to it, but I'll bet this will play out.

**So I am wondering if her boyfriend owed a drug debt? She didn't have the money so they killed her.

Frustrating that we haven’t had anything new at all on this case in 2 or 3 days! I would think with Lily’s fascinating life experience and well-known family that something more would have been published in the MSM even if police are tight-lipped on details that might affect the investigation. Thoughts?

I don't think her family wants publicity. They spoke to the media through an intermediary.

Similarly to Lily, he also dropped off his kid to run a quick errand and never came back.
Why do they enjoy posing with cash so much? Doesn't it make them a bigger target?
Right? I don't get that either.

My point in posting some of the IG photos is, he doesn't seem like a gang banger. More like a drug dealer if anything. But I don't know a lot about either lifestyle.

just asking, not challenging... why might a gang kill her? a gang she claimed or a rival?

ETA: sorry, this was in response to @Spartans24 specifically.
I think her BF was involved in a gang. If you watch his rap videos, listen to the lyrics, etc. It seems kind of obvious to me. Although, I guess I shouldn't assume things.

So, yeah, I don't think I can be all pollyanna about this woman's death anymore. It does look like she was hanging with a rough crowd. And if they were not rough, they sure were trying to look rough. STILL, she deserves justice. As does anyone that dies in gang violence (or is murdered). I don't understand it. I can't even imagine what her family and friends are feeling. She did have a very interesting life and it is intriguing to me how she ended up where she did. It's a life you think people can't get out of, yet here is an example of someone that seemingly freely entered into it. I don't know, maybe I'm mistaken, ignorant, and uninformed. I guess this is out of my wheelhouse. I hope you did not suffer, Lily. JMO, MOO, IMO.

There are numerous vacant homes in Detroit. Serious efforts are underway to board up vacant properties.

Detroit hurries to board vacant houses after serial slayings
I just found this thread !! Been catching up reading everything, but wanted to jump in as I was going to post that there are tons of vacant homes in that area..then I saw you post it LOL. I do know in some areas, they are trying to retro the area and clean them up. Hope they can figure out what to do with these old abandoned homes besides just boarding them up when there are so many homeless people wandering around. JMO

She was selling heroin in socks? She was murdered because her boyfriend was murdered?

Who did she meet before the event at the casino?
THIS ^^^^^^

I wondered if she was fully aware of the risks she was taking. Then I remembered that she posted this on her fb exactly one month before death (someone pointed out the post here earlier):

Hustlers do not have it easy at all, we gotta problem solve every day, nothing guaranteed, we never get time off, we risk everything and be making big sacrifices, thugging it out to stack cheese. People just see when we ball out, and don’t even have a clue what’s behind it.

On the same day she posted a link to a news article "At least 8 people shot in the past 24 hours in Detroit" with her comment:"We already seen how this summer bout to be".

Here's my perspective on this young lady, and why she would run with these people. So by the looks of it she was quite intelligent, well traveled, and from an very prolific family(grandmother U.N. ambassador). Her father...being a Buddhist lama, and starting a Buddhist community in Ann Arbor. Seems like she was always searching for something. Here goes..she got caught up in the "game" the danger and rush that drug dealing brings...fast cash..that CHEDDA...could have been a drug debt, or whomever wanted her out of the way, wrong place wrong time..we'll just have to wait for more updates...and hopefully this will be solved!..Detroit has one of the lowest murder clearance rates in the country!

Agree-- plus I think she "knew" or had an idea who killed her boyfriend and she was collateral damage.
