He murdered Kathleen Doyle in Virginia months after he tried to assault a teen on her bicycle - for which he was later convicted. I guess there was a delay in arrest and incarceration.
I think he must have a prior criminal history since he transitioned so quickly from rape (1979), to attacking a teen (1980), and murdering a young wife (1980). In 1996-98, he was a lingerie thief. I think he must have been a lingerie thief when he first started stalking women. He may have taken a 7 year gap between the murder of his 14 year old adoptive daughter (1989) and his second daughter turning 11 (1998). When he started again in 1998, he was a lingerie thief.
