Alleged murderer Jeffrey Willis scheduled for 8-day trial as appeal fails

MUSKEGON, MI -- Accused murderer Jeffrey Thomas Willis is headed for September trial after the Michigan Court of Appeals denied leave to appeal a lower court ruling.

Willis will stand trial for the murder of Rebekah Sue Bletsch on Sept. 12-15 and 19-22 in Muskegon County's 14th Circuit Court, according to the Muskegon County Prosecutor's office.

There was rough sound quality for opening statements today. Also I am sorry to say I found the Prosecutor pretty tough to follow, though he was comprehensive in his explanation of how the authorities connected Willis to Rebekah's murder. At times during his opening statement, I found myself thinking 'what does this have to do with the murder of RB?' because he was discussing JH and the minor, the underwear in the shed, the cameras at the blueberry farm ... I hope the jury was not as confused.
 
How many times was she shot? Where on her body was she shot? I agree - this 'feels' like a hit more than something random. I wonder what else is in her background? I also agree that it is interestingly convenient that her husband and child were both out of town that day...

Ultimately Dr. says Bletsch was murdered, died from multiple gunshot wounds to the head @fox17

Dr. clarifying she found 3 entrance wounds but 4 gunshot wounds, and no gun powder or stippling found on Bletsch's body @fox17

Dr. says found no obvious sex assault wounds on Bletsch, but trauma from sex assault varies and depends on circumstances @fox17

#JeffreyWillis - Jessica Heeringa disappeared on 04/26/13. Willis is charged in her kidnapping and murder. Her body has never been found.
 
I'll admit, although I've read a little about this case, I never knew Jeffrey Willis is also charged with the kidnapping and murder of Jessica Heeringa. I'll have to check out Jessica Heeringa's thread at some stage.
