Wayne state offering her 3 children a free college education is an extremely generous thing to do, kudos to WSU!

It's extremely generous and I think this is the first time I've heard of such a gift.
I am royally peed off too!!. She was getting a law degree in hopes of helping other people and maybe it would have helped in cleaning up some of murder mess in Detroit. No one should have to live in such violence and I truly believe she could have made a difference. Such a terrible irony.

Police comb phone records, surveillance video for clues to WSU law student's slaying

George Hunter /The Detroit News

Detroit— Detectives continued piecing together information Thursday in hopes of solving the murder of a 33-year-old Wayne State University law student, tracking outgoing calls from her cellphone and poring over campus surveillance video.

Tiane Brown was reported missing by her mother early Tuesday morning, after she didn’t pick up her children Monday night. She was last seen in the university library...

"Her seat belt was still fastened and the driver’s door was open, according to police.
Brown’s credit card was used at a Detroit gas station sometime after she vanished."

Was it just a stupid robbery? Warning graphic: A shot to the head for a phone and a credit card? I just don't know.

From the above article:
"It was 8:15 p.m. Monday and Tiane Brown’s law school class had let out."

"By about 8:30 p.m. she was taking a midterm online, completing it in under three hours. Then the Wayne State University law student vanished."

I'm confused. So she was in the library from 8:30pm until almost 11:30pm, then she disappeared? That would explain why her parents waited until early morning to report her missing. She wouldn't have gotten to their house to pick up the children until after midnight. That would have been a school night for the children? How late does the library stay open? She worked so I guess she had to do school work late at night. Dedicated lady and senseless killing.

Two men, being held as persons of interest, have denied involvement in her slaying, a source familiar with the investigation said. One of the men, who directed police to the location of Brown’s Trailblazer, told authorities he found the phone when he happened upon the area, the source said.

Huh? So these <self mod-snipped> found her and took her phone? Then they left her there and didn't call the police?

I am sickened.

(bolded for emphasis)

You read my mind... what happened to Tiane is so awful. My heart is broken for her children.

Perhaps they thought that the gunshot wound was self-inflicted and didn't want to get involved. :moo:

BBM "assault and battery" ? If Tiane was deceased at the time, what does this mean?? (Maybe I don't want to know.)

 to nursebeeme I don't know how you do it everyday. Following these cases and reporting to us and not loose it with these outcomes over and over.

Then I feel dumb for getting upset when her children lost a mother and her parents lost a child. I can't even imagine how they feel. What was the point of taking a life of a mother and daughter. For a cell phone ? There is just no reason.

Rant done, Thank You Nurse for being here and reporting for us

Agreed! Wonderful mod!

Snipped from campus email - in case anyone wanted to donate for Tiane/her family, info below. The prayer service held here was wonderful.

Dear members of the campus community,

The tragic and senseless death of Tiane Brown this week has shaken us all, and united us in our sympathy for Tiane and her family and friends. She was the embodiment of all that we hope for in our students – bright, energetic, accomplished and generous.

Tiane will be sorely missed, but we as a campus community can celebrate her life and honor her legacy, first, by striving to emulate her many good qualities. In addition, the Board of Governors and I have established a fund in Tiane’s name to help her family through this difficult time. If you’d like to contribute to the fund, please call the Wayne State Fund Office at 313-577-2263 or 577-2275, or visit giving.wayne.edu and click on the “Make a Gift” icon. We also hope to honor Tiane by awarding her law degree posthumously in May, and by offering her children the opportunity to attend Wayne State for free when they are ready to attend college

Detroit police chief: WSU law student likely knew her killer

George Hunter /The Detroit News

Detroit — A Wayne State University law student whose body was found in an east side field two weeks ago likely knew her killer, the Detroit police chief said Wednesday.

James Craig gave a brief update on the slaying of Tiane Brown, 33, and other recent crimes during a news conference, saying he was concerned some investigations weren’t being wrapped up as quickly as he’d like.

Last week was particularly bloody, with three triple homicides. The cases included a mass shooting at a barbershop and the fatal shooting of a pregnant woman whose infant, delivered by emergency Caesarean section, died a few days later...

Detroit - with special coverage of the Packard Plant - was featured in Anthony Bourdain's show called Parts Unknown, for the season finale this week. It was a tearjerker for anyone who knows Detroit, and had me thinking about Tiane. Thanks for sharing the latest news on her murder.

Charges dropped against suspect in slain Wayne State student case after misstep

George Hunter /The Detroit News

Detroit— Charges against a man who allegedly took Wayne State University student Tiane Brown’s cellphone from her dead body were dropped Thursday morning because prosecutors filed the charges in the wrong city.

36th District Judge Ronald Giles dropped charges of receiving and concealing stolen property less than $1,000 against 34-year-old Robert Windsor because Wayne County prosecutors should have filed the charges in 30th District Court in Highland Park, where Windsor and Michael Booker, 41, were arrested...
