hmmm.....the LE officer wouldn't 'rule out' the wife. There was also a great deal of blood evidence, in different areas of the home. From the garage to inside too. They also attempted to clean it up, including painting.

She is a witness and they probably removed the baby. :furious: Blood evidence in 2 places in the home.

This case is really bothering me. That poor baby was suffering so!
I think the Marines really botched it big time and left her out there to flap in the wind like a torn flag. She should have been protected. I feel they surrounded the wagons around this guy.
And then the local law enforcement either didn't pursue it or were told to leave it up to the Marines. Whatever happened, she and the baby are now dead. This guy was attempting to be so smart thinking he could get rid of DNA. I guess they've found blood with luminol in the house. How could the wife not know what has happened? :furious:

Fran, do you agree that the wife had to have know of this before the note? Im not in anyway saying that she had anything to do with it... but she had to have had some questions. She had to have known that Maria was missing and i would THINK she would have known about rape allegations against her husband? Maybe they were estranged because OF the rape allegations?

So many un answered Questions.

Kara, I've had these same questions too.

I think that local LE could do nothing if this happened on base. Military justice would take over, IIRC. I know back in the day when Marines got in trouble they were turned over to the military for punishment - which was generally harsher than what local laws would have provided.

Frankly, I hope they did remove the baby and it is still alive. It would be a blessing at this point.

No, there is no way I believe he did all of that in the house and his wife had no clue. Nor do I believe that Maria would slit her own throat. I don't believe that LE will ever be able to say they were not in some way also responsible for this girl's death either. Had someone acted on this as a foul play case in the beginning...she might have survived since we don't know when he killed her. If LE had bothered to go to this man's house and question them immediately...they might have found her still alive.

The only way she could not have known this happened in her OWN HOUSE is that she was out of town for a month. I can't believe that she was clueless to his actions
 Someone could have saved Maria if LE or the Marines had acted sooner:mad:

I hesitate to speculate until I hear something to back it up. I just thought it curious that when the officer was asked if the wife was involved, he looked kinda' funny and wouldn't say............left it open.....leaving it to one's imagination...........meaning??????????

I cannot believe how this woman was forced to live her life in extreme fear. When he killed her-- what she must have been thinking. I cannot believe the military OR the sheriff. This was totally preventable.

Did you hear or see they may have 'removed the baby?' Or is that just your thought?

Frankly, I thought of that too, but didn't want to mention it because it's too horrible to put it out there. IF he took the baby, he probably did it to remove any dna,.............meaning he wouldn't want to keep the baby so???????? he'd most likely get rid of it also. :(

Could this be the reason it is stated she was found and not she and baby were found.

Fran I know what you mean sometimes it is so hard for me too to ask something.

They haven't removed the body yet, so I don't think they can tell that yet. They are waiting for tomorrow.

This is just so awful. This young girl didn't ask for any of this. She wasn't having an affair with the guy or anything...she was RAPED by him and became pregnant. She was only 20 years old...just soo young and looked so innocent. And now this horrible ending. I'm just sick over this and I pray they get this guy and bring him back alive.

Wondering if Maria's family can sue the USMC?? I'd certainly be thinking about it if I were them. :furious:

Unless I have missed something...there has been absolutely NO mention of the baby since they found the body.

Ya know, i have a bit of a wild imagination but nothing surprises me anymore!

I have started typing a few things i have thought now twice and just wont subject my imagination to yall but ... i too, have thought many times if they know proof positve that the baby was actually still in Maria's womb when they found her remains.

Wow-my guess was that the witness was the wife, and I wonder if she has the baby?? And that was what convinced LE that Maria was dead?

BTW...it is being discussed on Larry King Live right now. Interesting. Laci Peterson's stepfather is on. Sad.

They should sue the USMC and also Sheriff Brown and his department for their incompetence....:furious:
