What if this seemingly innocent wife took care of both of them at different times? He was ruining her life because of his actions previously and Maria was going to make certain her life would never be the same by having his child. How do we know she wasn't calling all the shots in this bizarre case?

Jealous rage could figure into this big time. Another scenario: She actually does the murder of Maria while hubby stands by watching it unfold. He has to help with the cover up. She realizes they aren't going to get away with it and decides he can't be allowed to talk to authorities to finger her...so she takes care of him before writing the note and leading the police on a wild goose chase for him.

Hey, after the cases we have seen...it could happen. Do I think so? No, but until they find him and we can hear his side of it...anything is possible.

Still its sounding like her duty station dropped the ball big time.I would not want to be a person in her duty station at all from the lowest man on the pole to her CO of her duty station.The hammer is going to be coming down on them hard.Just wonder if we will ever hear of it?Or if just one person will take the fall?

With Maria's ATM card being found in Raleigh/Durham I wonder if they have checked the area for his body. What if wife made a trip to this area to dump a body and plant the card to make it look like CL was there.

One of the things that keeps running through my mind is ... what parts of these events would he have needed assistance? For example, moving cars about, buying the ticket, ATM transactions, cleaning & painting etc.

WOW. I saw the neighbor interviewed last night knocking Christina's story full of holes. They have absolutely no reason to lie about such a thing, whereas the wife sure does. Surely she's being held somewhere, right?!

Ceeaura~ The Sheriff's outline of LE's and Marines' timeline is difficult to pin down to say the least. Yes, he did say in fact the top tier of the Base did not know about the rape case as this was handled on the bottom level. Yes, the Sheriff did say that because of the Military's holiday status, they could not find anyone to talk to about this case. The name of the suspect did not appear initially and the military had to dig to get it.

The rest of his investigation timeline is as clear as mud to me from that interview.

Why did they have to dig? Maria's rape case was still active and going to a grand jury shortly. Wouldn't Cesar be the focus of the GJ? Wouldn't his name be right on the top of every document regarding that case?

Can you imagine the gaskets Brown blew dealing with these yahoos?

I can envision it all now. Military has never liked civilian people. I hope to heck heads will roll. However, unless it stays in the limelight and the parents press the issues, it will be swept under the rug.

They should not have been working together after the rape. I wonder how close they worked to one another. Some offices on base on small. Others have more than one floor. However, I would be scared to death to have this rapist anywhere near me. You know that he was saying crap behind her back. She was young and trusted that her immediate supervisor would protect her. I'm sorry, but, from my experience, they protect the "man" before they protect the "woman." When I was around the miltary, they didn't even want women in the military. They could have thought that this woman was taking a spot from a man, who would be sent into combat.

Even though they keep reporting that she's been cooperative, I think that she was either knows more or was much more involved than she's led authorities to believe.

Personally, I think that LE should lean on her HARD. It's possible that Laurean's actions have been an attempt to try to cover up her involvement? If he perceived that she and their daughter were in serious jeopardy due to his actions perhaps it might get him to turn himself in.

ITA. There are too many things that point to her involvement (neighbors account, the car parked in their driveway, her helping to paint and burn stuff in backyard, etc) and only ONE thing that points to her being not involved. The letter that left. That letter could have been planned by both of them. He does not even admit to the murder in it (in fact he lied about it) so I feel like it was a well thought out plan and not a heartfelt tearful confession and goodbye to his wife.

That's exactly why I think that they should be leaning on her HARD! If he perceived that she was in danger it might shake him out of the woodwork.

This crime is horrifying to me as both my husband and brother are former Marines. The respect, honor and integrity of the Marine Corps has been horribly tarnished by this 's actions.

"He needed to go to the police and talk about, because he told her that he -- he said to her that Maria committed suicide and that he panicked and took the body and buried it out in the woods.
