Oh, her poor family!!

This adds credence to our collective belief that Hilton has killed before now.

Yes it does.
This is a monster!

And so many had a bad feeling when they noticed him and Meredith together on the trails!
I wish someone had intervened!

RIP Meredith. And God's comfort to her family and friends.

what gets me is why didnt he leave her fleece tops with her body? How bizarre is that...
makes me seriously think he watned to get caught

A bloody seatbelt was one of the items of evidence found in the garbage, along with the fleece tops.
Do you suppose he killed Meredith at one location, then moved her body to the remote woods?

This is so horrifying. That poor girl!

It is horrific and so very sad for her family. Bless their hearts.

The blunt force trauma to the head would be consistent with Irene Bryant's COD. I was reading earlier that a serial killer normally does follow the same patterns in COD, but tends to become more violent with each killing. This would certainly bear this out.

Has someone already mentioned that the Bryants' ATM card was used only an hour away from where Emerson went missing? I think this is significant in connecting Hilton to their case along with so many other things, including the yellow jacket.

John and Irene Bryant disappeared Oct. 20 while hiking in North Carolina's Pisgah National Forest. Her body was found three weeks later; she had been beaten to death. Her husband is still missing.

Someone wearing a yellow jacket used the couple's ATM card at a bank about an hour north of where Emerson was hiking.

Welcome to WS, Shultzan!

This is definitely not his first time - I believe they will find out he is linked to many more missing/deceased cases!
I can't believe the condition they found her in, so sad!
I hope he gets what he deserves! This is just sick!

This monster is a sick piece of **** !!!

He probably wasn't thinking of anything, except his own greed, lust, satisfaction, covering his *advertiser censored**, whatever.

Not sure if he wanted to get caught or not.

But I am thankful he has been caught.
I hate the horror and fear that poor Meeredith surely went through!

A few thoughts..

The decapitation puts things in a different perspective. If anyone wasn't sure before, you can be sure now that we are dealing with someone who has killed before and would kill again. This definitely isn't a case of someone having a mental breakdown and killing out of anger. This also proves he didn't just kill her for money either. He's a cold blooded killer.

I am interested in the ATM survelliance...if he attempted to conceal his identity then I would say we have a good chance he killed Irene Bryant.
Unfortunantly that means John didn't fare well if he died at the hands of this psycho.

It sickens me that he came across this beautiful young girl and just decided her life needed to be cut short!

I don't believe he wanted to get caught at all. I think he has done this before and has gotten away with it so he felt pretty comfortable with his actions. The reason he took the clothes and other items were to separate them from the body to slow identification. It could be the same reason for the decapitation, but I would be more inclined to believe it is because she really angered him and it became more personal to him. To me, it indicates uncontrolled rage on his part.

I agree with all you've said here, schultzan31.

I really truely believe he killed John and Irene too.

Yep, I think she was killed in a place where she wouldn't be heard. Where he would have more control.. Maybe he pretended his dog was sick and got her into his van, or faked illness and got her to his van that way.

For the blood to be on a seatbelt enough for it to have to be cut off, I think that she may have been killed in the van. I don't know.. My impression of her is that she WOULD have fought back if at all possible.

Mods, any word on getting a forum just for this guy? This one isn't going away anytime soon.

Better article with more information on Williams/Winans:
http://www.barryyeoman.com/articles/murderonmountain.html

One of the murder victims had brought her dog along on the trip. He was found unharmed at the crime scene.
No sign of sexual assault to the victims.

From the link - my bold:
THERE'S A PHOTO CIRCULATING among Julianne Williams' friends. It shows the lanky outdoorswoman wearing a yellow thermal pullover, hauling an Alumacraft canoe over her head. Framed by her short brown hair is an Ivory Snow face with an almost impossibly broad smile. She looks directly at the camera.

I wonder if she took it camping

The family has to be going threw hell now.......

I agree. I wouldn't be surprised if the defense is able to show some kind of cognitive or mental disease. ( I mean, what person " in their right mind" decapitates the body of someone they already killed??).
I think the cognitive or mental disorders may have caused him to be sloppy in his after-killing behaviors.
However, I think this man is probably one of the many serial killers in the US who killed for quite some time without detection.

I hope he cooperates with LE to tell them everything.

Yes, I agree.

Meredith was trained in Martial Arts, and had a black belt, I remember hearing. She had to have fought back hard. She just didn't have a police baton or knive like the monster!!!

I would imagine that he has possessions somewhere..either in his van or wherever he was staying, and they may link him to other murders.

I wonder why we haven't heard anything about his 2nd van lately? You would think that if authorites have not found it that it would be key evidence and they would be asking people to look for it. Makes me wonder if he sold it and they know that? Or that they already found it?
GBI did say that they have a loot of evidence in this case.

I was so afraid that is what he had done after reading about no trauma to the clothes. That horrible beast! Evil monster from hell....

I am just coming back from Clairmont Road as I wanted to see the location of where the monster was living prior to October 2007. There is indeed a realty company on the side but not Bob Woods Reality but Casey Realty and there is a shared drive way. The small unkempt house on the right, which was/is the siding business looks abandoned. There was a yellow piece of paper taped to the front window but I couldn't read it from the street. It reminds me of those foreclosure notices but I wouldn't swear to that. No evidence of an ongoing business...no business signs, no area in the rear with storage buildings or no evidence of product anywhere.

I definately agree that the winan/williams case should be looked into as well. I was looking for cases today that matched the hiking aspect, and that one kept coming up.

It was just hard to keep looking since I didn't know an exact cause of death at the time. Since we now do know she was decapitated after head trauma, it will be easier to search for other cases matching this criteria

In the Bryant case since her husband was there, maybe he killed her to show her husband he wasn't playing around.....He took Mr. Bryant with him to make sure he didn't give him the wrong pin number....then after he got the pin....he killed him somewhere.

Kel

OMG I'm just sick. And he kept her alive until Friday. I can't even imagine the horror she went through. This kind of think will keep you up at night :( RIP Meredith.
