I want to address something that was brought up in one of the first posts on this thread.

Someone mentioned Casey's released statement about not being happy about Cindy and George having Caylee cremated and how she did not want a public memorial.

When Caylee's remains were released by the Medical Examiner, they were released into Casey's care. If she was so against Caylee being buried, and that there be no public memorial, what stopped her from having JB draw up papers, outlining her wishes, and have George and Cindy sign it before releasing Caylee's remains to them? I don't even think she would have needed them to sign it? She had that right! People do this all the time. I believe it is called a "living will?" Didn't Cindy say that she had Casey make up a "living will" when Cindy decided that no one, especially Caylee's own father, would have rights to Caylee?

I am seriously calling B/S on Casey and Jose on this one. I don't think for one minute that Casey wanted Caylee buried... actually, I don't even think Casey cared about what was being done with Caylee other than she wanted her gone once and for all.

As for Cindy and George having any kind of effect on the jury when they decide whether to give Casey LWOP or DEATH... I just don't know? I think that once they see that two innocent men (of sexual abuse/incest) are just another victim of Casey's vile lies... I believe they will be even MORE compelled to give Casey DEATH!

Great post - I did the same as you at the time - :waitasec: How the heck did that happen - the remains would surely belong to ICA.

RBBM... I think KC wanted every last bit of Caylee gone. Duct tape and all. She never wanted that baby buried, she wanted her remains cremated, if they couldn't just be scattered to the seven winds with nothing left to link that drop spot back to the Anthony home.

I don't think an accused murderer should have any control over the disposition of the victim's remains.
It's frankly laughable that she should express outrage at the choice that CA/GA made for cremation. She doesn't mind that she is left rotting at the side of the road, like roadkill , but when her parents decide to cremate the remains she sees it as yet another power play! :banghead:

That was all for public consumption, that to me, was a deliberate ploy to show how controlling CA is. CA does as she pleases and this was my child. The very child I am accused of murdering...it will blow up in their faces if the prisoner tries to use only that for her mitigation phase.

ICA didn't even try to get an escort for herself to attend her own childs memorial, Caylee had been gone from her mind for a very long time, she disassociated herself from Caylee long before she ran out of the home in a rage on June 15, 2008 after that alleged physical altercation, which BTW, CA still adamantly denies. I believe, this will come out at trial (this altercation) and that bus is heading swiftly towards the parents, CA, GA....JMHO

Justice for Caylee

Yes, Lee and Jackie were good, but Cindy and George are a defense attorneys dream. Add in the pretty, young female factor and I'm just saying...there might be compromises in the sentencing phase of this trial. I hate to play the devils advocate here, but if its for the good of the team, I must stay the course.

I don't know about C&G being a defense attorney's dream. If Cindy gets on the stand and says she still thinks Caylee is alive, the jurors mouths will drop to the floor (IMHO). And it appears that George has taken a backseat with his lack of appearances lately. Lee has disappeared completely.

I betcha they'll pull out all the loving pictures of Casey and Caylee during the sentencing phase, but certainly not the party pics.

This is going to be one very interesting trial!

Justice for Caylee all the way.....

If Casey had told her parents how she wanted Caylee's remains put to rest, I wonder how she communicated that fact to them. Weren't the three of them already incommunicado at this point? We certainly didn't have access to this interchange, either through the jail videos or letters, so how did she tell them? Must have been through JB (if at all) and he should have known how to legally enforce Casey's wishes.

Maybe she had JB read this statement to help make her parents look bad ~ IMO, they didn't need any help from her. But she did manage to "get it on record" this way. . . and that might weigh in on how badly her parents treat her (mitigating factor?).

That is exactly it. Behind the scenes, there was agreement, but no way could Jose and Casey afford to have her agree with her parents on ANYTHING in the media. She had to be contrary publically so that they could show how controlling her parents were to her for the penalty phase. I can hear it now, "Casey's parents wouldn't even let her bury her precious child. They controlled Caylee even in death." Wahwahwah, cry me a river. But that's exactly what they're going to do in the penalty phase.

On the other hand didn't KC sign a release so her parents could take care of the arrangements. Since KC had no money I believe her parents took the path that was least expensive. KC has no concerns for what her parents have to deal with and in this instance she, again, was bringing attention back to her and acting as if she had been victimized. Are we not surprized? jmo

Yes, JB passed letters and messages between them according to ICA's letters from jail to jailbird friends. I always wondered why he needed his laptop with him when visiting, he was probably connecting them during visits- by email or Skype. He's like ICA, he has total contempt for the rules.

I wouldn't even be surprised if it was PLANNED that way. Remember, Cindy said Casey was as much of a victim as Caylee. I can totally see her parents going along with that to make Casey a victim. And it was early on enough in the case that they either didn't realize they were building their own demise to save her, or they didn't care at that point. But I can see them all sitting down and planning this. Notice the A's never said anything back at her about it in the press. They just wore Caylee's ashes and did the Woe is Me act that Cindy is still pulling.

:twocents:The standard practice is simple: the medical examiner's office signs the remains over to the agent chosen by the next of kin AFTER the next of kin identifies who will be "treating the remains with dignity & respect and a lawful disposal". This is done EVERY DAY by ME offices around the nation!:banghead:
In this case, the next of kin was the inmate who DID HAVE THE primary rights and responsibility to the remains, she however CHOSE to reassign those rights & responsibilities to her parents (ie. they were to choose where Caylee's remains were to be housed until disposal) and they carried it a bit further to choose the method of disposal AFTER the second post. :innocent:Oh yeah, normally included within these rights & responsibilities is the detail of:waitasec: PAYMENT :waitasec:to the funeral home/facility for services provided~:innocent:
The OME sanctioned the disposal of the remains by cremation on 12/31/2008, IIRC and just as a "food for thought point", many cremains are BURIED in a urn/casket/container in a plot and are graced with a headstone, EXACTLY AS THE INMATE opined in her :floorlaugh:"poor me against mommy & daddy letter":floorlaugh:!

I don't think it had anything to do with expenses. I have no doubt if the Anthony's expressed financial trouble for Caylee's funeral (burial or cremation) a lot of Orlando funeral parlors would have jumped right in to give Caylee a proper burial/cremation. For free! I don't think you would find anyone who would deny CAYLEE anything.

Other than that, I agree with everything you said.

Casey's statement about Caylee's cremation and memorial read by Jose Baez.

"I miss Caylee every day and every minute of every day. I can't be there for Caylee's funeral, but someday I want to go and visit her grave and tell her how much I miss her.

I allowed my parents to be in charge of the funeral for Caylee. I told them I wanted her to be buried in a casket and I wanted there to be a gravestone so I could go and visit. I asked them if there could only be a private funeral for just the family.

I know they cremated her. I still don't want a public event with cameras and everybody around for Caylee's service, but I can't stop my parents from doing what they want. I truly hope it will help them."

Again, when Caylee's remains were released... they were released to Casey. I believe 100% if Cindy and George were really going against Casey's wishes by having her cremated and having a public memorial... JB would have filed some kind of legal injunction against Cindy and George.

Now, I do believe her when she says she didn't want Caylee to have a public funeral. The way her statement is worded she seems really bitter and jealous about all the attention Caylee was getting. It reminds me of her phone call from jail where she says "All they care about is Caylee."

There is no way that Cindy will ever admit on the stand that Casey told them she wanted Caylee buried and she went against her "innocent" daughters wishes. It would make Cindy look bad. They can try and use this against Cindy and George in the penalty phase, but I believe it will backfire on them. Same with Casey's lies about the sexual abuse/incest. Actually, I think these two things alone make it easier for a jury to actually sentence Casey to death.

Respecting the final wishes, cultural practices, religion etc of the deceased and their family is huge in the nursing world of which Cindy is a still a member to my embarassment. As much as she horrifies me, I really don't think CA would disrespect all of MOTYs wishes in this regard. People often have very strong feelings cremation vs burial that even CA would respect. While cremation is much cheaper, I'm sure they got lots of offers for complimentary services, casket, hearse etc. Even CA wouldn't take her angst with KC out on Caylees remains would she???

yes,she would..and she did IMO

I just can't imagine stooping that low. I know this is CA we're talking about and she is the mother of all code talking dysfunctionals but still.
You're probably completely right. No cremation, no cremains jewelry or stuffed bear to tote around and caress.

I'd be curious to know if cremation was the norm within the Pleasea and Anthony families, i.e. was cremating Caylee a departure for them? I'm guessing it was. I ask this because I can easily say that cremation has been used in my family for nearly 40 years, with only a few exceptions.

IIRC Casey initially handed over legal custody of Caylee's remains to Baez. Surely as a Lawyer he could have ensured Caylee be buried as opposed to being quietly cremated.

I've always believed that funerals are as much for the living as they are for the deceased. It's effectively a ritual, a demonstration of how the living want to portray the person who has died. The Anthonys imo would have held quite a different kind of funeral/service IF Casey wasn't being accused of killing Caylee. JMO

I have become increasingly worried that Cindy and George will end up being the main mitigating factor the defense goes with. What is scary to me is the thought that Casey's family may be the most successful of the mitigators with a jury. A jury could give her somewhat of a break considering the disorders that abound within this family. I don't think she will be let off the hook because of this, but it could work with the right jury in sentencing.

Just a thought to throw out there...

I doubt very much their impact will affect the outcome. Since the COD cannot be told, I do believe, when this prisoner is found guilty of the crime of capital murder against her own child, I foresee a LWOP sentence, not a DP one, for that reason alone. Unless those fine State Prosecutors can give a theory on the how's of Caylee's demise, which we caught a glimpse of...she may just face the same fate as Caylee, only this prisoners death would be much more humane than Caylee's death was..JMHO

Justice for Caylee

It dawned on me while reading this thread that May is just a few months away. The trial has been a long time in coming and I'm a bit breathless thinking it's actually, finally, so close.
