If convicted, he will be completely protected from other inmates - and your tax dollars will be going to provide that extra layer of protection.

I have no link, but that is not necessarily true in Minnesota. I know of a convicted, multiple felony, child sex offender who was tossed right in with the rest of them.

My understanding was that until an incident happens to warrant their 'protection' they go in with the rest.

"Before being implicated in Alayna’s death, Anderson’s criminal history as an adult appears limited to minor traffic violations and a handful of calls in Wright County for other matters, including an assault in April 2014 and four incidents involving domestic disturbance, the Sheriff’s Office in that county said Tuesday. None of those calls resulted in any arrests or charges."

I am curious is ZA had a drug or alcohol habit. Didn't the press release mention he was up until 4am? After a softball game?

Good question. What time do the bars close?

Interesting information. I learn something new everyday on here. It's also excellent news!!

Gah, wish MN had it, but hopefully he will plead guilty then. Honestly, sex offenders, especially those of young children, should never be set free. They should never walk around surrounded by potential victims. I had never heard that about not giving them the DP for fear they would kill their victims, it's an interesting point to ponder; personally I'm not so sure.

I know Patty Wetterling talked about it. What to do. Her son was taken 26 years ago . She has done a lot for children

I'd expect any good parent to do it, it was the right thing to do. Just think it must have been an awful thing to have to do.

Good parent is the key here. Many a momma has buried her enabling head in the sand and proclaimed the innocence of her poor, sweet baby monster. Many a family member has aided and abetted by providing a place for predators to hide. Many a parent blames the victim, but fights to the death to keep sweet innocent Johnny off of death row. It seems to me it's a RARE parent that does the right thing. I wish that were not the case.

Cass County deputies sped to the Anderson property and spotted the stolen truck in a concealed location. They then made entry into the cabin, finding a shotgun, loose shells and a suicide note on the kitchen table. The defendant was no where to be found.

I knew he was going to commit suicide...it all just seemed so disorganized, he never had a plan. Then when faced with the inevitable he sought the easy way out.

I am trying to search the info as I am quite sure they are put in a separate wing. Here is some info although not specific to MN

I wonder if the father had supicions?

ZA so far does not seem to fit the profile. He had a job. He played softball. He played golf. He did not appear to be a loner.

Who knows. FB does not paint an accurate picture hardly ever.

My ex SIL is currently incarcerated in a Minnesota prison. This sperms donor of my grand babies abused his 3 month old son (not one of my littles). I suggested it was his turn for a little "man handling" - his reply was the child SA's had that role. Some are indeed in general population.

(BTW, the little guy he hurt is doing wonderfully!)

“Laynie,” as family members called her, was a giggly and sometimes silly girl who loved to wear skirts and jewelry, a relative said, but also loved to play with her older brother on go-cart-type cars that their father built.

It’s unfathomable to people in this stoplight-free town of fewer than 1,000 residents that the girl could end up the victim of a homicide. Unfathomable that the accused perpetrator is a man her family considered a friend, a man whom many in town came to recognize as he spent Friday nights this summer playing softball on Alayna’s dad’s team and tipping back a few drinks in the local bars.
...
Nicole Rohrbeck, whose husband is Matt Ertl’s cousin, said Alayna came to her house for haircuts and played with her children, one of whom was born just a few weeks before Alayna.
...
Rohrbeck’s husband also worked with Matt Ertl and Anderson at Vannguard, a multistate company that locates and marks underground utility lines.

The two cousins had known Anderson for a couple of years at least, Rohrbeck said. Anderson played on Matt Ertl’s softball team every Friday night throughout the summer, often crashing for the night at the Ertls’ house after having a few drinks at the local bars.

Rohrbeck, who sometimes tends bar at Gordies, said Anderson was outgoing and talkative, often telling her anecdotes about her husband at work.

Anderson “always had a story,” she said.

"We called her little peanut, she was always our little peanut," Kayla Ertl, Alayna's mother, said. "She was loved by many and she always a smile on her face and hug for anybody."

Jeff and Mary Welle, Alayna's grandparents, also spoke about their fond memories of the 5-year-old.

"She dressed up to a 'T,' she wore little dresses with the cutest little hats you could find, she loved doing it, she'd dance around with them, she was a little angel," Jeff said.

Mary smiled when she said, "She was our princess, our princess, she loved to sing 'Frozen' and 'Let it Go.'"

Kim Ertle, Alayna's other grandmother, said, "When that song first came out, she knew it all, it was awesome, she was a tiny little girl."

"She loved hugs and to snuggle, she was always trying to crawl up in your lap and give you a snuggle," Rick Ertle, Alayna's other grandfather, said.

Glad to hear the little guy is doing wonderfully!!!!!!

ZA was originally being held in Crow Wing due to space issues in Cass County. I doubt Cass County is going to give him his own private condo when there are already issues of overcrowding.

Thanks for the info!!

"The BCA release stated Anderson was being held in Crow Wing County due to 'space issues' at the Cass County Jail."

I agree - he doesn't seem to fit the profile. But, he also doesn't seem to be into the dating scene either. Not that you have to have a boyfriend or girlfriend to be normal...but he's a single, young guy with a job who was hanging out with his married co-worker's family. That's not a huge red flag, but perhaps in hindsight, it is a clue.

IDK.

Interesting observation. I wonder if there will be any other things that come out.

It sounds like Alayna was a friendly little darling. She probably was outgoing to the perp.

I am totally flummoxed by his actions. He does not appear that he was trying to be sly about his actions. I would think a perv would try to hide his crime. I wonder if we will ever hear.

The taxpayers will get to pay for his attorney and then his expensive housing, What a waste of money,
