Amended criminal complaint against Ashley Marie Conrade charges her with two counts of aiding Nelson's attempt to avoid arrest. New info in the complaint--the gun found near Nelson during his capture fired the shots that killed Jobi. Conrade initially claimed she never saw Nelson with a gun. After a receipt for ammo was found in her purse & surveillance video showed her purchasing it, she admitted buying the ammo and seeing him with a gun. In a third interview she identified the found gun as being his.

Ashley Marie Conrade made it home for Thanksgiving. She bonded out on Nov, 19 felony count of aiding an offender. Police believe Anarae was killed in Conrade's apartment but have not charged her with any crime. She's able to enjoy the holidays with her family while Anarae's must spend them without her. It's been over 2 months since Anarae's death and no arrests.

Can someone help me. Nelson was out on bail after being arrested for a home invasion and robbery and illegal possession of a handgun on 6-12-13. Conrade was arrested the same date and charged with false imprisonment. I'm assuming they committed this crime together. This happened in Hennepin county. I can not find the disposition of her case. Can anyone help?

5 months since Anarae's death. We know where she was killed. We know who killed her. We know who witnessed the killing. We know how she was killed. We know where the murder weapon was hidden. We know where her body was dumped. NO ARRESTS

Maybe Anarae's family needs to contact the Attorney General to find out why. I don't know what the local prosecutor has done or if things were presented to him and he wants more, or what the problem is???

As per the article posted 3/21, they are prosecuting Jobi's case first as it happened first.

Newer article from 5/14:
Nelson is scheduled to stand trial in Jobi's slaying in July.

He has not been charged with Anarae's murder. Now the judge has allowed his attorneys access to evidence in her case even though he hasn't been charged. Sometimes I wonder how anybody gets charged & convicted. Ashley Marie Conrade was his accomplice in the crime he is currently serving time for, the Jobi case & the murder of Anarae. She is free. Anarae is dead.

The two people with whom slain University of Minnesota student Anarae Schunk was last seen alive last fall will be charged with murder Friday in her death, Dakota County prosecutors announced Thursday.

Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom said Shavelle Oscar Chavez-Nelson, 32, and Ashley Marie Conrade, 24, will both be charged with second-degree murder.

Backstrom will discuss the charges Friday at a 1 p.m. news conference at the courthouse in Hastings.

A Dakota County grand jury has upgraded the murder charges against two people accused of killing University of Minnesota student Anarae Schunk.

Shavelle Oscar Chavez-Nelson, 32, and Ashley Marie Conrade, 24, were both charged Tuesday with first-degree murder. They already had been charged with second-degree murder in Schunk's death; the new counts mean they're accused of planning the crime in advance and face a life sentence if convicted...

Chavez-Nelson is currently in prison in Stillwater for an unrelated gun conviction. He's next due in court in the Schunk case Thursday. Conrade is jailed in Dakota County with bail set at $2 million. Her next court date is Wednesday.

The brutal nature of Anarae Schunk's slaying should mean harsher sentences for those responsible, prosecutors said Thursday.

In court filings, Assistant Dakota County Attorney Kathryn Keena gave notice of her intent to seek aggravated sentencing for Ashley Marie Conrade and Shavelle Oscar Chavez-Nelson. Both are charged with first- and second-degree murder in the 20-year-old University of Minnesota student's death...

Keena cited Schunk's vulnerability, the "particular cruelty" with which she was treated, and the concealment of her body as the reasons to seek an escalation.

Shavelle Oscar Chavez-Nelson, 32, was scheduled Monday for a May 11, 2015, trial date on the first- and second-degree murder charges he faces in Schunk's death. If the date holds, it will come nearly a year and eight months after Schunk was slain.

Chavez-Nelson is one of two people charged in the case. The other, Ashley Marie Conrade, has yet to be schedule for trial, though that could come much sooner. In sidebar conversations Monday in Dakota County District Court Judge Kathryn Messerich's courtroom, the judge and attorneys discussed dates for Conrade as early as October.

After an arrest for a controlled substance violation, a judge made it much more expensive for one of the two people accused of killing Anarae Schunk to remain free.

Ashley Marie Conrade, 25, had been free since the end of July on $750,000 bail... In a hearing Thursday, Dakota County District Court Judge Timothy McManus doubled Conrade's bail to $1.5 million...

Conrade remained jailed Thursday.
