Well, here we are mid-July. High water probably limiting any searches, but will they resume?

Trail being built from Cedar Bridge to connect to Harriet Island. It's near where he disappeared.I've also walked/searched near the tracks and around all the ponds in 2023. This year I have hiked deep into the brush. If you're looking at the map, there are a couple smaller holding ponds off Camanche Rd. I've hiked the creek starting near these ponds, all the way back and across to the backside of the holding ponds where K9 thought the picked up his scent. Even in March, the brush is well over my head. I am 6 feet tall and visibility in some of those areas is maybe 3 feet. There is plenty of evidence of transient activity in the area. We are always in a group. The terrain is wet even when it's dry. There are lots of divots with water all around this area. The terrain is difficult to say the least in some areas. As we walked towards the backside of the ponds, we saw evidence of vehicles recently being in the area as well. Not sure if these wheel tracks were from the original search or not, but it certainly looked more recent. You could spend weeks/months back here with a drone and still not see everything.
I bring this up because I see people asking about small ponds on the map. Some of these ponds/creeks are here and some of them have dried up. For example, the pond west of the tracks directly connecting to the Essendant lot was almost completely bone dry. On the map, it shows it full. The pond being this low gave us access to some large runoff piping, which we also searched.
I'm not sure what is going on down in that area. There was a huge clearing of trees and brush from the wastewater treatment facility all the way to the ponds behind Essendant. The clearing is roughly 40' wide just east the tracks.
We walk this area frequently.
Thank you for this. Winter is definitely closing in on us here in MN and I just feel poor Bryce will lie out there another year. Even cadaver dogs would have a difficult time of it getting through, what with the tall grasses, burrs and muck. So sad.I haven’t posted, but we have gone out and looked as recently as last week. I do believe he is still out there. From looking at the maps and photos, it’s like… this isn’t THAT large an area, it shouldn’t be hard to find him. Just get out there and walk.
However once you get on site, it is seriously such difficult and expansive terrain, it feels hopeless. Uneven ground, THICK brush and grasses, covered in burrs and prickly plants, mucky ground, water… you have to pick your way step by step and it’s very slow going.
In addition to the terrain, there is evidence of transient people (like someone else said) and for lack of a better word, it feels creepy. Searching definitely best done in a large group.
Personally, I think there’s some internal issue of Eagan PD vs Bryce is actually missing on state park land. Since the terrain is so challenging and dangerous, it’s not Eagan PD jurisdiction, and his family isn’t doing interviews or making public demands, the case has stalled.
Yes, it’s a populated area, but the actual chunk of ground where Bryce is presumed to be is not. People bike and hike the trails and paths, the businesses are right there, the highway… but 5 feet north of the railroad tracks? Nobody goes out there.
If someone really wanted to get a search going, I think a private party would need to drum up 200-300 people. Have them in tall rubber boots and suitable clothing, then fan out and pick their way across the area in a line. Where all these people would park, I don’t know.
Again, it’s really difficult ground. I last searched in tall water proof muck boots. They are heavy and difficult to walk in, a huge long train went by so I had to stand down in the burrs, etc. The parking situation is bad. You can park in one of the business lots (which all say permit only) and hope your car is safe, in the little greenway lot and hike directly through several hundred feet of thick thick burrs to get to the rr tracks, or the frontage rd parallel to cedar which took me an hour to hike down to the area via the tracks.
Thanks for sharing. I haven't posted since the early stages of Bryce's search. I know this has been previously asked and discussed within different framing, but based on your experience, and your description of just how difficult it is to walk or traverse through that area - how far could Bryce have traveled? It was dark, we know he had some level of alcohol impairment based on reports, unsure of any other substances. It seems he would have fallen or gotten stuck in mud, etc. relatively soon if he was walking through the difficult areas you describe.I haven’t posted, but we have gone out and looked as recently as last week. I was out looking for him too a few times in the months after he went missing. I could not get very far beyond the tracks...too much thick brush, uneven ground to twist an ankle, and mud, etc. And I was sober and it was daylight. I can't imagine he made it very far. I would think he would have fallen, gotten stuck, or turned back. Did he make it back to the well lit industrial area/buildings/parking lots? Or fall in the holding ponds? But those have been searched how many times. There was talk of the family draining them at one point. Never heard if they did. Thanks for sharing. My gut has always been he didn’t get very far. Apparently the friends went out to look when his FaceTime call died. It would be so quiet and still out there, he should have been able to hear them call his name. Thanks for sharing. I haven't posted since the early stages of Bryce's search. It is completely quiet at night. I have gone out there at night. And I agree, if he was there or alive, he should have heard them.My gut has always been he didn’t get very far. Of course, there are cases where intoxicated people managed to get much farther than expected so I wouldn’t want to rule anything out completely.
My number one guess is still the water, most likely those 2 main ponds because they’re right there.
I hear ya. This is one of the strangest missing person cases I have ever followed, for the reasons you mention. It is completely quiet at night. I have gone out there at night. And I agree, if he was there or alive, he should have heard them.
If they think he is in one of the ponds, then wouldn't someone drain them to find the body? Or send expert divers down there? There is no way as a parent that I would just leave him there. His family seems to have a lot of money, so cost should not be an issue.
If he got back to the roads, did someone pick him up and that's why he didn't hear his friends? And why no one can find a body? And why no one is looking for him anymore? I don't understand why everyone has seemed to give up and no one is talking.
