At least they're all wearing their masks and so far peaceful.

This is such a powerful statement from the prosecution.

“It may be hard for any of you to imagine a police officer doing something like this,” he added. “Imagining a police officer committing a crime might be the most difficult thing you have to set aside, because that’s just not the way we think of police officers. We trust the police. We trust the police to help us. We believe the police are going to respond to our call for help.”

But Chauvin, he argued, did not listen or help. “What the defendant did to George Floyd killed him,” Schleicher said. https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2021/04/19/derek-chauvin-trial-2/

Just curious, has Chauvin been in leg shackles during any of this trial so far? Have we ever seen a glimpse of him in any restraints coming into or leaving the courtroom? I haven't, butI certainly could've missed that.

I noticed the tables for both sides are covered with a tablecloth that runs down to the floor, not sure if that's the norm for their courtroom or if they're using it to also hide Chauvin in leg restraints. Again, just merely curious.
He is not currently incarcerated.

I think it’s so ludicrous that people think harm will come to the jury if they vote NG! It’s so preposterous imo. This is not a Martin Scorsese mafia movie! Nothing will happen to the jurors no matter the outcome.

It’s all gonna be fine. Obviously Nelson knew exactly what he was doing by hammering his “unruly mob” theory. It’s an ugly archetype! JMO.

Maxine Waters slams GOP attacks over ‘confrontational’ comment: ‘I am nonviolent’

In an exclusive interview with theGrio, Waters dismissed suggestions that she was encouraging violence. I am nonviolent,” she said. The congresswoman, 82, said attempts to characterize her words and suggest otherwise is nothing more than a political tactic by the GOP.

“Republicans will jump on any word, any line and try to make it fit their message and their cause for denouncing us and denying us, basically calling us violent … any time they see an opportunity to seize on a word, so they do it and they send a message to all of the white supremacists, the KKK, the Oath Keepers, the [Proud] Boys and all of that, how this is a time for [Republicans] to raise money on [Democrats] backs,” Waters added.

“This is a time for [Republicans] to keep telling our constituents that [Democrats] are the enemy and they do that time and time again,” Waters said of what she described as a Republican strategy. “But that does not deter me from speaking truth to power. I am not intimidated. I am not afraid, and I do what needs to be done.”

Further clarifying her comments on being “confrontational,” the California congresswoman said “I talk about confronting the justice system, confronting the policing that’s going on, I’m talking about speaking up. I’m talking about legislation. I’m talking about elected officials doing what needs to be done to control their budgets and to pass legislation.”

She continued, “I am not worried that they’re going to continue to distort what I say. This is who they are and this is how they act. And I’m not going to be bullied by them.”

When asked if she’s worried about potential violence on American streets if former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin is found not guilty in the death of Floyd, Waters said she is more concerned about the “disappointment and hopelessness” such a verdict would have on the Minneapolis community and Black communities across the country.

“I’m worried about the disappointment of particularly the young people and young Black males who are more and more frightened of the police, afraid to drive their cars when they see police coming and thinking that their lives will be in danger,” said Waters. “I’m afraid that it further helps to cement the feeling that somehow justice just does not work for us in America. And so whatever that causes, it will cause … I don’t know what will happen, but I know that disappointment and hopelessness is not a good thing.”

Other trials I’ve watched they’ve kept us up to date like if jurors went home, etc.. but this one.. nope
Been out most of the day. Did the judge give the jury the leeway to deliberate as long as they wanted or set any timelines?

Have you ever heard of Rodney King?

On previous trials that I have followed, some media organizations had a sign up to put in your phone number to get a text when the jury had a verdict.

I haven't seen one, has anyone else?

Also, I didn't hear the judge state how long it would be from when the jury sends him a verdict note to how long it would be that they would reconvene for such. I thought that was usual in high profile cases especially. Did I miss such statement?

TIA

What?I never heard about any of the jurors get attacked in that case.
Oh yes. Sorry. Not the jurors that I know of but there were certainly riots.

he did say that this was all going to be handled remotely and the lawyers etc. need to be ready to zoom. I don't think they will be coming back to courtroom until verdict.

I wonder why she wouldn't directly answer the question about violence if DC is found not guilty. Instead she talks about disappointment.

She should be loudly denouncing violence but apparently that's not a concern for her. JMO

From earlier:

After the 30 minute break interrupting Nelson:
*Jury appears still attentive despite the longer than expected closing by Nelson.
*Juror 2 watching Nelson intensely making notes, even slightly nodding from time time.
*Jurors 6 and 10 appear slightly tired or bored.

Also from Schleicher's closing:
*Juror 2 appears to hang on Schleicher's every word. Others do as well, but to me she's looking the most intently
