Ok, one of the comments said...

"Robert and Rita Rassier were vacationing overseas on the night of Jacob's abduction. Their 20-something year-old son, Dan, and life-long resident at the farm, was home alone. When questioned by investigators the following morning, Dan reportedly stated he was asleep at the time of the abduction. A music teacher of fifth and sixth graders in Cold Spring, the still single marathon enthusiast must have been sleeping soundly, not to hear helicopters flying overhead and the sounds of sirens at the front entrance of the farm. Hummmmm."

And another said...

"I hope they nail the SOB finally. I know who he is and always thought he should be the prime suspect. Freakin' weirdo! Hope he didn't mess with any other kids in his job as an elementary music teacher for the last twenty some years or more."

Interesting reading...

I wonder what happened that LE's returned to search this farm. It's been previously searched. Did someone say something? In plowing was a body turned over?

Seems a lot of vehicles: 17 marked/unmarked cars, trailers, all-terrain vehicles... Something must be going on.

currently there is earth moving equipment onsite.
They are removing barrels? and furniture? from the property..which doesn't make sense to me.
LE has been here before questioning a man, but there are two men, an 80yo farmer and his son who is in his 50s.

Everyone is bound by a court order to not speak about this, so I am doubtful we'll know anything for some time, but the Wetterling family were notified this morning. I can see why they would not get their hopes up, after more than 30,000 leads, their little boy still hasn't come home.

Please say a prayer for Jacob and his family.

"....The property is owned by Robert and Rita Rassier. They still live there with their adult son, Daniel.

FBI spokesman E.K. Wilson says the FBI is assisting in search warrant operations in the area. Investigators believe this search could last two days.

Patty Wetterling said the search was something that had to be done. She said not only for her family, but for the people who live there with the shadow that hangs over their heads.

Wetterling says she's guarded, but hopeful, about what searchers may find"

Hello Wonderment,

Joining you in prayer for Jacob and his family.

Thank you for this update.

I'd like to know what the tip was that lead to the search today.

All of our prayers for closure on another case and we have been given more than we could have imagined; Closure on this case. I hope.

Update: Search at farm near Wetterling abduction site

News helicopters arrived tonight while some squad cars and other vehicles left a property near the site where Jacob Wetterling was abducted in 1989.

Authorities had been at the property since early today, and some vehicles remained there as of 5:10 p.m. A Bureau of Criminal Apprehension van was seen leaving this evening.

Sheriff John Sanner said a court order prohibits him from saying why they’re there. FBI spokesman E.K. Wilson says the FBI is assisting in search warrant operations in the area.

Such a sad case...I hope they can finally bring Jacob home and give his family some closure.

20 years is a long time
If someone there is responsible, what else have they done in all that time?

I hope Jacob's family has answers soon!

Anyone have any idea as to why they would be taking furniture!?!?!?

After reading the Saint Cloud article, it sounded like some things (scaffolding & stuff) were being picked up for the church Parish festival and that Mr. & Mrs. Rassier stored them there. Not clear if the barrels are for that or going somewhere for inspection??? Who knows? :-/
The deal is that their son lives there, he was in his 30s when this happened. He was a school teacher (band) and was home the night the abduction occurred but didn't even go out to find out what was going on when the cops showed up (which looks not-so-good, right?)

My question is: would they not have searched the farm area a long time ago, or did they just get *more* information that made it more plausible to execute a search?

The inability to comment is to protect the integrity of whatever the source of information is. There's no magic to that, it just makes us all curious. I can't imagine being the W's, how stressful the ups and downs are.

Hopefully, finally, some answers soon. I am far from Minn., but Jacob has always stuck with me, maybe because he and Mark Himebaugh both went missing shortly before my son was born. Prayers to Patty Wetterling and her family.
