I usually lurk here, but....

looking at DR from an *outside* persepective, perhaps he has Asperger's Syndrome:

He has a couple of very narrow hobbies (running), has tended to keep to himself, seems to be quite intelligent, and talks as if he has no idea how to talk to a human being.

I know a few people with AS and he is very like them.

I did some genealogy on the family, and Robert and Rita had 9 children. Betty Rose, Michael Robert, Joseph Bernard, Daniel Alfred, Nancy Jean, Kevin John, Richard Gerard, and Anthony Paul.
His parents were Bernard and Clara. They had children Renne, Robert, and Louis- that I have been able to find.
Al's father is John B and Donna Muellner. If John B is one of Bernard and Clara's children, I haven't been able to find it. It looks like John B had parents John W and Clara. John W's father was Joseph.
Anyway, needless to say I don't think they are closely related, but very likely generations back. I am really interested Louis Rassier, and trying to find out more about him. I am still stuck on the Bahner tapes, and until I hear that they were definitely debunked as being fake, I am pursuing this story. I think DR may know more than he is saying, but I don't think he did it. In a small town, everyone knows everyone. Not much is private. There are people who know the truth.

I live locally and there was a Louis Rassier from Sartell, MN (which is a suburb just north of St. Cloud - if you're not from MN) but he is deceased. He died in 1991, two years after Jacob was taken. He would fit the age bracket of Jacob's brothers saying it was an older man, he would have been in his 60's in 1989. Although to kids under 11, anyone over 30 probably looks old.

Thank you for the info. The Louis J Rassier that I found was born in 1928. He is the brother of Robert and Rita Rassier. He married Emma Wingen 1/6/1963 when he was 45 years old. I can't find that he ever had children, unless he was married before. The man from your link is someone else. I don't think he is dead. I would really like to find out more about him.

Just an interesting note which may or may not have relevance is that Rassier's have attended St. John's since the 1880's.

I would really like to hear from anyone who has definite information that the Bahner tapes are fake. They were done by a bail bondswoman and the people being taped did not know they were being taped. Well, back in the 1800's, both families had students at St. John's. The Bahner's had 2 priests. I'll have to see if I can find more current archives.

Another side note- Ronnie Leo Bromenschenkel disappeared in St Cloud on 8/16/1986 with someone named Cynthia Schmidt. As far as I can tell the case is still unsolved. The only reason I bring it up is that Bromenschenkel is Rita Rassier's maiden name. It said that they were involved in money laundering and were probably killed for it. Who knows- what really happened, but they disappeared in St Cloud.

I watched the Bahner tapes again and they always strike me as something manufactured by someone to throw suspicion off onto others and add confusion to the case. There as to be a reason why LE has rejected them as being important. That you tube channel is by stearntruth who also posts at that GLP site and seems to be a bit of a conspiracy theorist (IMO). Stearntruth also frequently posts in the online comments in the local paper and comes across to me as being not very credible - so that's what I'm basing that on. You can google his name and find his posts on GLP and other videos he's made.

I tend to believe in LE and think they have reasons for naming DR as a POI and no one else. Even though there are sometimes bad apples in that profession also, on the whole LE is more believable to me than some guy posting anonymously on you tube. (JMO)

I would think he knows more than he is saying. But wouldn't it be a crazy risk to abduct a kid who lives down the road from you, and do it from the entrance to your driveway. Then bring him into the house or one of the out buildings- knowing that the police would arrive soon. He would have to think that there is a big chance that the police would search the property. Plus, how would you ever get him out of there, with all the police, and media attention? Unless there is/was a completely hidden, soundproof, underground room on the property, who would risk something like that?

Someone who acts on impulse and doesn't plan ahead? Why would DR have kept lengthy journals on this story all these years? He seemed obsessed with the case and commented when interviewed on TV news that the cops should listen to his theories, because he might be able to solve it, where they hadn't. (paraphrasing)

Maybe DR just knows who took Jacob - or thinks he does. I keep going back to his possible friendships with various staff/priests from St. John's. If his folks were gone and he had a friend over, or a friend stopped by, and then later Jacob was missing, perhaps DR thinks this person took him, but doesn't want to get his friend in trouble? I just don't know. I wish we had answers.

I'm still curious why LE took that umbrella stand, cedar chest, etc. from the room over the garage. They must have had something on them - I really wish we'd hear what those final test results were.

I don't know if you've seen this website, but they have some info here also on Father Tom, who was pastor in St. Joe when Jacob disappeared. There is also mention of another young boy, CK, who committed suicide at that time.

So now I am more on board with DR being the perp. Has anyone looked into all the races he has run in, to see if there is a correlation to any missing persons or deaths in the vicinity where his races have been? He has been in many marathons all over the country, over many years. Just a thought.

As far as I know a poster sent this into the Jacob Wetterling Center and they reported it to LE. I've never heard anything more about it, I'm guessing it was probably just another bogus lead. Also about DR, yes I do think he knows than he is telling and obviously LE knows that too. Why else would they make him a POI to the public.
