Murder suspect being extradited to Clay County
FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) - A man accused of killing a 14-year-old Moorhead girl appeared in Cass County Court on Friday morning.
Isaac Arndt, 18, appeared before a judge via zoom from the Cass County Jail for an extradition hearing. Arndt was arrested on August 20 and is facing a 2nd degree murder charge. He will be transferred to Clay County, where the alleged crime took place, and that’s where official charges will be filed.
According to a warrant, Arndt and the victim, 14-year-old Jaelyn Walker, were previously in a relationship and agreed to meet at Gooseberry Park on August 19. Walker’s mother filed a missing person report with the Moorhead Police Department after midnight on August 20 and police found her body near the Red River in the area of 6th Avenue and Elm Street South.
Detectives questioned Arndt and he eventually admitted to stabbing Walker about 13 times. He also said he slashed her throat, gave her a hug and stabbed her one last time in the back before leaving on his scooter.
Arndt told detectives he ditched his scooter and went to his apartment in Fargo, where he cleaned up and washed his clothes that were covered in blood.
The warrant describes video surveillance from a nearby house which shows Arndt leaving the wooded area in Moorhead, where Walker was found.
Walker would have been a freshman at Moorhead Area Public Schools this fall.
