TY Honestly, I don't get why this is even being questioned since she thoroughly explained the reasoning for her response. jmo

All I did was ask K_Z if she was a Doctor. The title of "Anesthetist" is ambiguous. Folks here snapped back at me saying "of course she is Doctor" she is a verified anesthetist..... we'll see if she answers.
It is an important disntinction to be made when we are told someone is giving their expert opinion.... we need to know what their verified title actually means.

Not being evil is not mitigating evidence when a crime happens. I am not evil, I'm not dangerous. I have never hurt anyone. If I am distracted and run through a red light and kill a person in the crosswalk, I will still face jail time. The likelihood I would ever do something like that again would be as close to zero as you can get. That doesn't mean someone isn't still dead, and they weren't killed in a way that requires a penalty under our justice systems. There is absolutely no logic or sense in that. I shouldn't get to go on and not face the ramifications of my actions. Life doesn't work like that, and neither does our system. (Unless you are a cop, apparently...)

Beyond that, we know nothing about this man's character. How can you say he won't continue to harm people? We can't. And we can't base our justice system off how nice people present themselves to be.

A nurse can also be an anesthetist is what I'm finding on Google.

Wow...and this is straight from law enforcement ...a tox screen has been requested to see if "ambien" was in Justine's system...they could be considering using that as a defense. I get that for some people that drug can have some strange effects but still why would it justify murder? And honestly with the profile of Justine she does not seem like someone that would take sleep aids.

What is someone like that does take sleep aids? They are prescribed by docs and some can be bought without prescriptions, and I bet more people take them than any of us realize. Saying she's not the type is a leap, unless you knew her personally, and even then her medical issues are not necessarily topics she discussed with anyone but a doc.

The tox screens are standard procedure, on both sides, for any homicide like this. I would be surprised as ever if they didn't get blood samples from Noor.
Let's hope Justine didn't take anything illegal or have too much of anything in her system, because I fear it will be used against her :(

i think what makes the so bad for me beside the fact is is close to home is in many of the other officer initiated shootings at least the victim was in the act of doing something they should not have .

Not Philando Castile, shot while driving his girlfriend and her daughter home from the grocery store.

sorry that I made a leap...I think I am going to refrain from commenting here...it is sort of intense and critical if things are worded perfectly. Lets hope the family can get some answers.

Don't you dare refrain from posting here!!! Since you live there, your posts are essential and I want to read them!!!

Noor's lawyer should be ashamed of himself for trying to blame the victim and smear her in the press by insinuating she was on Ambien at the time of the shooting. He's not a doctor, how would he know anything about this? Many people have horrific insomnia and need a sleeping med to get a few hours of sleep, myself included.
Even if she did have Ambien in her system it certainly doesn't mean she should be killed in cold blood. Noor's partner was shocked when Noor shot her - if she'd been aggressive towards them surely Noor's partner would have said so?

I hope you stay too, you've shared good info!

I feel sorry for his attorney. He probably got stuck representing him and he has a client who shot and killed a woman who did nothing wrong and posed a threat to no one. I don't how he can defend that.

Please don't go. Websleuths is a wonderful site and there will always be bickering back and forth. Your insight here is invaluable.

I agree but that's what defense attorneys do.

A lot of lawyers would love to represent him. They will select jurors who are LEOs, former LEOs, family members of LEOs, and anyone else who is pro-LE. That should win the case. Even if it doesn't, the lawyer gets paid anyway.

That's their job. Someone has to do it.

Yes, you are right. Ms Damond could have been his sister, his cousin etc. He has found himself stuck with a client who has shot and killed an unarmed and innocent woman. It is his job to defend Noor and he knows he is going to make himself unpopular doing so.

If I recall correctly, and coming from my own background as an RN as well, KZ is a nurse anesthetist , which means she has an RN, a masters degree, and a specialty as a nurse anesthetist. This requires at least 6 years of education / training, if I recall correctly... thereabouts ? No doubt more training in that field than I myself have.

This would make her more qualified than anyone who does not hold those qualifications. On top of that, she has been verified here on Websleuths. Which also makes her more qualified to post here. I personally respect and appreciate our verified posters here. What would we do without them?

So, Thank you K_Z !

They'll never 'win' this case. The best he can do is a plea bargain IMO. Even people who are pro-LE aren't coming up with any kind of a defense for this guy. Because there is none.

Yep. Word.

I would think anyone that is capable would render assistance to a trauma victim. But there is basic first aid do's & don't's when giving that assistance. If a motor vehicle accident scene you have to be careful to not move a person that could have potential spinal injury. If someone is bleeding you have to try and stop the bleeding first, keep the trauma victim warm, don't give the person anything to drink in case they have to be rushed to the operating theatre, etc. As far as LE goes i don't know what they are required to do from a first aid perspective until first responders get there? But i think the normal reaction to trauma victims is to try and help them until medical assistance arrives. So i think giving Justine CPR would be a normal response because LE aren't doctors to assess the situation properly from a medical standpoint. But basic first aid would be all that anyone can do if they know what to do. All IMO
