Thanks Pommy, who are we following on X for real time trial coverage?
I haven't seen any reporters announce that they'll be in the courtroom, but Ryan Juntti w/WIMT attended the pre-trial hearings in Sept.

Also, the timeline article above says, "ABC 6 News will cover Adam Fravel’s murder trial from the Blue Earth County Courthouse. Stay tuned for daily updates."

I was hoping it would be televised.

Buytendorp ruled that Kingsbury’s friend Lauren Dubois will not be allowed to testify about what Kingsbury told her in March 2023 at Mayo Clinic. Dubois told investigators that Kingsbury told her if something happened to her or her children, “It was Adam.”

Testimony from Kingsbury’s father’s wife, Catherine, about Kingsbury telling her that Kingsbury’s daughter had seen too much will also not be allowed during the trial. Testimony from witnesses about Fravel having access to Kingsbury’s phone also will not reach the jury.

Jury selection begins Monday in Mankato, in a murder case that has been moved out of Winona County because of heavy publicity.

More than 150 witnesses are expected to testify during Fravel’s trial at the Blue Earth County courthouse, which is predicted to run about three weeks.

FOX 9's request to be able to have a camera in the courtroom during Fravel's trial was denied in September by Judge Buytendorp.
  • The request was denied because Madeline's family wanted privacy during the trial.
  • The order also stated that the court would allow the media courtroom access and/or setting up a media room at the courthouse with ITV to view the trial.
  • If the family changes their position and does ask for camera coverage, the court will evaluate the camera requests and make a decision.

I have no doubt Fravel will be found guilty, none at all.

This is the final painful step towards closure for her family, so they can move forward without thier beloved Maddie and raise her two beautiful children.

Adam who? He can’t go away soon enough!

Today marks Day 1 of the trial for Adam Fravel, a Winona man accused of killing Madeline Kingsbury.

Last week, Kingsbury’s family explained that they will be sequestered throughout the trial.

Jury selection is estimated to take 3-4 days. The trial itself may take a month.

KARE 11's Lou Raguse, who has covered the case extensively, says proceedings will open with motions at 10 a.m. Monday, with the jury selection kicking off at 1 p.m. The process of seating a jury is expected to last about a week, with the trial itself anticipated to stretch out for most of October.

  • There are 158 potential jurors for the trial.
  • A total of 120 potential jurors were brought in for questioning today.
  • The defense can strike 16 jurors while the state can strike 3.
  • Potential jurors can also be stuck "for cause" by the judge.
  • Jury selection is expected to last about a week before opening arguments and testimony begin.
  • Before jury selection began, the judge needed to rule on a number of motions.
  • On one motion, the judge ruled that AF would not wear any restraints, such as handcuffs, during the trial.

Monday morning, court officials tell ABC 6 News that currently, there are 158 qualified jurors in this case. There will be two sessions held at the courthouse, where a total of 126 people will be given forms to fill out detailing their experiences, opinions, etc. By Monday afternoon, only 96 potential jurors showed up to the courthouse.

It is at this stage that prosecutors and defense attorneys will begin filtering out jurors to sit on this case. The goal is to find 12 people that will not let a number of factors including prior experiences, opinions, biases, and more affect the outcome of this trial.

According to Kyle Christopherson, the communications specialist with the Minnesota Court Information Office, the defense has 15 strikes it can utilize when it comes to picking potential jurors. The state only has nine.

Fifteen and nine in this article. Sixteen and three in the article Pommy posted? Which number is correct for juror strikes?

The state and Fravel's defense team questioned five potential jury members Tuesday morning with one approved, another struck by the defense and the other three excused by the court.

The first juror is a middle-aged mother with no prior knowledge of the case.
