Just reading through this thread..so many questions..she received a text that terribly upset her the day before she disappeared (what was the text), she leaves a note that only the mother read (what's in the note)..did the note contain info about the text, or did she take her phone when she left so no one could see that text, or any other text messages? If LE has definite info, why would they withhold it and let the public (not to mention her poor family!) continue to search, hold fundraisers, etc? Lots of questions...I hope for the sake of her family the receive answers soon!

Could the text message have been threatening and she felt like she had to disappear? Just another question.

According to her father, that text message greatly upset her, so I would guess it was about some bad news, if it was threating her safety, she was more likely be frightened

Amanda is still missing. I came to this site hoping to find more info on her case and from this thread I see a lot missing. I think mostly because she wasn't in the media, they didn't dig for information.
I talked to different people that either knew her or knew about the case that wasn't in the media. Remember that this isn't from law enforcement and could be false but I heard this from more than 3 different sources.
The Note: No one knows what the note said because her mother refused to show it to anyone, including the police.
Runaway: it was suspected that she just left but she left without any money, any known vehicle (so someone would have driven her somewhere, even if hitchhiking) and she left a beloved dog behind.
Boyfriend: she had a new relationship, one that she had been very excited about.
Mother: Everyone I've ever talked to has said that the mother never wanted to look for her.
While I can't prove anything from this information, I think it should at least be out there.
It doesn't seem like there is anyone still looking for Amanda. She's still missing.

I was happy to see movement on this thread! Sadly, it wasn't a post saying she'd been found. :(
Kwhirl, you are right. Info did not flow freely AT ALL in this case, and that likely led to people shrugging it off. IMO, if there is a lot of secrecy around a disappearance, we tend to move onto other cases that have at least some basic info.
It's so sad. I've been following Amanda's case for a long time, here and there. It's been far too long.

The Note: No one knows what the note said because her mother refused to show it to anyone, including the police.

I think LE could trace the text, and read the content of the text via service provider, if we know that, we may guess the context of that note. It is shocking the way her mother react to her missing, did she ever explain why she did not want to let other know the context of the note ?

I've only ever heard one story about why she didn't hand the note over.
I was told that she said at the time that her daughter was an adult and could leave if she wanted and that since it was her property, she didn't have to see the note.
I've never heard if anyone else within the family saw the note, if anyone was ever able to compare handwriting.

The text message: it's hard to believe that no one was able to find at least the person who messaged her. But if the police weren't invited to look into her missing persons than they would not legally be allowed to look into it.

If she is listed on the Missouri State Highway Patrol Missing Person page, then LE was involved, which should give them the authority to pull whatever records they need in order to trace her, right?

Amanda was a close friend of one of my old school friends. I haven't talked to her in a wile since I quite using facebook but the last time I did she had pretty much no information to go on. I remember her posting the poster all of the time and I am not so sure she just left.

This story has bothered me for a long time. My wife who works for the Missouri criminal division said she was still missing when we were talking about missing persons the other day. I guess its the not knowing what happened to someone that is bothersome, especialy as a father. I can tell you there are plenty of people younger and older who are not so good in the area. I hate to think the worst. One can only hope she just decided to possibly get away from someone crazy and is OK. What I don't understand is how the mother could stop LE from reading the note. It is a criminal case and at that point they should have been able to get a warrant. Its quite possible they just didn't care and sadly I've seen that happen in this area. I hope people don't forget the people who seem to be forgoten. Having said that, seeing how easy this site was to find its sad that no friends or family have made a comment on here. Maybe people rely too much on Facebook. Things get lost quite easy there though.

Very strange indeed. Looks like her last address is in Illinois with and older family member. Is it possible she felt like she had to disappear!? I don't see anything about her missing on any of her family members social media pages. I find that very telling. She had some pretty hefty felony charges a couple years before her disappearance. Maybe she continued down that path and picked up some more (I could not find any but maybe a different state). Maybe she is doing time and the family wants to keep it hush hush!? Witness protection maybe. I did find a bunch of aliases so I feel like she is "hiding" for whatever reason.

This whole thing is very fishy to me. I just did some reading on the FB page. When asked if LE was searching the woods, Amanda's sister replied that they'd done a fly-over but that her dad and brother (I think) were searching. Now...why wouldn't LE searching for her? Is it because of what is in the note? The sister states that she didn't read the note, just the mother did. And the sister wasn't concerned about what the note said. None of that makes a lick of sense to me. I mean c'mon. A family member is missing yet left a note. Yet you don't care what the note pertains to? There is something of an explanation in that note. Why the secrecy here? Nobody is asking for specifics, just some kind of direction. I'm not trying to be disrespectful to the family but this case will go stale very quickly if not even the tiniest of hints will be given.
This is very bizarre indeed. I can't even pull anything up on Google that is recent. There must be a reason LE isn't putting much effort into this. I'm guessing she's a walk away and the note indicates that, or there would be a lot more urgency to this. There is very little backstory that I can find as well. Is there a history of mental illness? Substance abuse? Some kind of romance angle?
Sad that there is just no information out there. Yet...the sister does seem very upset. Wondering what the family dynamics are here?
Thoughts???
I have always gotten serious "Witness Protection" vibes from this one because of all the reasons you stated. It would make sense. The lack of urgency for LE and the family. I did not know about the sisters lack of concern of the note. That right there has the bells going of. That would be MY 1st order of business. Find out what the note said, thinking it's going to give me a direction to go in.

IF anyone has what they believe to be a tip or relevant information, please ask the law enforcement agency involved & let them decide!

I don't think this 2020 article has been posted here yet.

After six years, Amanda Caudill’s disappearance still a mystery

Quoting from the link above:

Among the family members who attended Saturday’s vigil was Amanda’s father Lee Caudill.

“This time of year really tears me up,” Caudill said. “I think about her every minute. Especially when I go hunting. She and I loved to go bow hunting together. Any kind of outdoor activities she loved to go with me.”

Caudill says the last time he saw Amanda was the day before she disappeared in 2014.

“She came to the house and I could tell something was wrong, you could tell by her mood,” Caudill remembers. “I took her outside and I asked what’s wrong. She said nothing. I said BS. I knew something was wrong. She was almost in tears and her face was red. I told her you need to tell me what's going on so I can help you. I said I’m here for you. What's going on? She said nothing, I can take care of it on my own and let’s go back in the house. I said okay. I didn’t want to push it. I thought that would only push her away.”

Caudill says he got the call Amanda was missing the next day.

“I got out there as quick as I could,” Caudill remembers.

The rest of that Monday was spent searching in the woods of Crawford County for Amanda. Six years later, Caudill is still looking for evidence of what may have happened.

“My hope is that she comes home, but I don't look for it.,” Caudill says. “The social security office tells me she hasn’t gotten a job and the license bureau tells me she hasn’t gotten a new license.”
