And I'm leaning that way myself. What happens if she's not found in time to preserve evidence? "Homicide by undetermined means"...and Casey can say Caylee drowned in the family pool. And Shawn can say that ALL he did was suffocate little Breeann.

Hopefully they found possible evidence in his house that will prove more than what he is saying

He may not be telling the whole truth about the location of the body so he can use it as a bartering tool down the road :(

Do the ditches empty into a larger body of water? Or are they self contained? She has been in the water 7 days could she have been washed away? tia

I've wondered if only one pink sock was found on the road and if the other one was found in or near his home.

Praying they find her soon. WHEREVER she is. He couldn't have taken her far, per the time line.

I have seen several posts questioning the "failed" polygraph tests, and why they would be told they failed if they didn't, or that it makes no sense because polygraphs are given to clear someone. I just wanted to chime in on my personal experience with this and being told a lie as to the results.

In the summer of 1985 several teens in my neighborhood were involved in a very serious crime that ended in the murder of an elderly lady. The FBI, not police, made a sweep of the neighborhood rounding up every teen in order to get some answers. My sister and I both were hauled in to the Justice Center along with about 40 others. More than half of us were told we failed our lie detector of the ones who parents consented to it. I was one of them that "failed", my sister was not. I had NO information on what happened, I did not even know the family. My sister had NO information, but knew the murdered woman's granddaughter. In fact only a small handful of kids had knowledge of the crime, and only a dozen or so knew one of the grandchildren, yet we were told we failed. I was later cleared, but in the meantime I was harassed for 3 days after being released to my parents. For two days my parents were ordered to have me appear at 9am where I was taken into a room and asked questions by about 30 FBI over several hours.

So yes, the FBI does lie and say someone failed when they did not. Maybe this is common practice, maybe it's more common when they have nothing to go on, or in certain types of crimes... I don't know. BTW, that initial sweep of our neighborhood was WITHOUT parental consent. I still have images of two of my friends being shoved into a blazer as my sister was grabbed from beside me, and then me. Again, this was solely the FBI, not the police. So in my opinion the FBI will do whatever they want or whatever they can in order to solve a crime. :twocents:

I think its going to come out that this guy is someone who just blew a gasket and went crazy. If he was a serial killer or pedofile they never would have caught him so easily. He kills the girl then goes through the trouble of driving her body to the bridge and dumping her. Then dumps her bike and training wheels in other areas to supposedly through off police. Then he tells the Police exactly what he did before a body was found or any evidence linked him to the crime. These are the acts of a man who is not in his right mind.

Did they ever solve that crime?

I would think that SM would qualify for PD considering there is no chance he will EVER be able to return to work.

Seriously! Even if his confession gets repressed, dude has most likely lost his current job and is now unemployable.
And even if he did have a good union job, that is still not enough of a salary to cover a case like this.
He'll surely get a PD.

I asked the defense attorney I work for about polygraphs. He said that, on the whole, they are accurate and helpful, provided that an experienced person is operating the device. However, he's wary of allowing LE to administer polygraphs because there can be so much variation in experience, and also because of the tactical responses they employ when an investigation is ongoing. He's not the type of defense attorney who thinks all cops are out to get people, but he is wary. LE have a job to do, and unfortunately, being truthful can get in the way of that job. This can leave people like Rodriguez and his wife in a bad spot.

Lie detector tests are not automatically bad, but it's definitely good to be skeptical of results because it's an inexact science.

Agree. Also, do we know if his wife has a full-time job? Hopefully so as otherwise there isn't any income and there are still children at home. Wouldn't blame her for finding an attorney, however, for herself..........to get a divorce.

:(

MOO

I have been following this case from the beginning (she disappeared on my Birthday). I am praying that they find her soon! Her family need & deserve that closure.

My thoughts concerning this case:

I don't believe for 1 second that the confession is the "whole" truth to this story. If it was sexually motivated, I hope they can prove that after being in the water for so long. If racially motived, I think I will be more outraged! How could you kill an innocent 3 year old just because she is a different race than you! Either motive is deplorable and unthinkable.

I do not think the world is anymore "unsafe" for children today than it has always been. In the world we grew up in, there wasn't the WWW. News of local missing children didn't make the National news. You just didn't hear about it unless it was happening in your area.

There was just as many predators out there back then also. They just didn't have to kill their victims because the justice system didn't prosecute like they do today. There wasn't Registeries to worry about. We grew up in a world of "ignorance and innocence" and we victims suffered the abuse in "shame & silence".

I truly believe that my Children and Grandchildren are safer today than I was growing up. At least they know about stranger danger and to tell someone if anyone touches them in an inappropiate way.

Did they ever solve that crime?

They did solve it. A few people that I considered a friend were sent away for some type of involvement in it, some to the detention center, one to the juvenile section of the state reformatory (while it was still here it had a section for kids tried as adults). One kid who was suspected to be involved left town with his dad and later joined the army. (I don't remember what happened with him, but I think he got away with it. I'd have to ask my mom if she remembers.)

I still have a problem with his story. The dad said the bike would get stuck where the actual wheel would spin because of the training wheels. Could she get her bike into his backyard without that problem? Maybe the timing is off, but a 3 yr old would have a hard time repositioning the bike to get it to go and it would take some time. Those little bikes are not easy to deal with on unlevel surfaces. I think he would have had to have gotten her off the road or she left the bike to get to the pool. If she left the bike, he would have had to have the time to do his evil deed and then get the bike before it being seen. I really think he got her off the road, bike and all.

Thanks for agreeing with me that SM would get a PD!
