I hate that I catch myself repeating these freaking chants in my head.
I have to admit I catch myself chanting the This is what democracy looks like one..it is quite catchy. I think the cute little girls doing it a while back made it stick with me. (Before the DW death chant of course )

....annnnd, I just need to see things with my own two eyeballs.

Night Night ya'all. See ya in the morning. This is like my mom coming and yelling lights out kids, and we'd whisper until we fell asleep. :slap:

But Fran - It's only 8:20 in CA. Some of us just got done making supper, after working all day!! (and all week.) This is the only time we get to participate.

okay. 10 minutes it is.........(but it's the weekenddddd!!!)

None of the major instigators that were arrested Thursday night were there last night. And there were only about 20 marchers last night. At one point they started chanting in the street. A contingent of county pd came out and said ' you can chant anything u want, as loud as u want, as long as u want, but u can't be in the street.'

then the cops went back inside. And the protests kind of petered out....:poof:

It worked last night because none of the major instigators were there. I am worried about next weekend though. Are people going to travel across the country to just stand on the sidewalk and chant?

Been planning for this weekend. Hubby out of town so I can watch live streams into night, stocked up on ice pops and popcorn. Then thread goes into lock down. Then commentary is limited. Ok, I can deal with that. There was a fire close by, put out quickly, but someone saw it lit, LE and helicopter activity around neighborhood. Sit back down find links again and nothing, a good thing!

I wonder if most don't want to chance arrest with big rally planned. I secretly hope for a low turnout, but think a number of people with something to prove will attend.

St. Louis County Police say no arrests made during protests in Ferguson, Mo., last night; 'Protesters did block the road momentarily, but on scene commanders had open dialogue with those protesting, asking them to simply keep the road clear and stay safe. All were fully compliant' - @NBCNews

Re next weekend, one distraction from the protest will be the nationally televised Sat./Oct. 11 SEC football game between MO Tigers and the GA Bulldogs, both in the eastern division and both with 4-1 records, unless GA implodes today and loses to Vanderbilt. Also, there's a lot of local interest in the Oct. 13 Rams Monday night football game and festivities around Kurt Warner's Hall of Fame admittance iirc. IOW, the St Louis area "Weekend of Resistance" events will be competing for attention imo.

I don't think protesters and agitators care much about those things. Plus that leaves them Friday and Sunday.

I think sports fans care very much though and will make their opinions known if games are disrupted and/or fans attending are threatened. If MB supporters want to appear to be a "movement" then they might want to avoid creating an "anti-MB movement" movement.

ETA: tonight's Cards-Dodgers game begins at 9:30 ET, usually the beginning of prime protest time.

A few weeks ago on twitter, they were threatening to 'shut down' the Monday night football game. But I think they learned that was not going to be easy when they went to the last Rams game. At least I hope so. They might have just been scoping it out to make bigger plans for the big televised event. IDK

I can't see how even attempting to interrupt the nationally televised Rams-Monday Night Football game would benefit anyone other than the anarchist/revolutionist contingent of MB supporters, especially since the Rams lease at The Dome is up this year and rumors are flying the newish owner may move them back to LA. Would St. Louisans support that?
