Something else to consider? Did Officer Wilson try to stop MB from advancing by shooting far from center mass and towards MB's right shoulder and arm area but in the process of falling/bending forward those last bullets hit MB in the head? Evidence tells us OW was, if fact, aiming at MB's arm and missed several times.

Last night when the Wash Post article came out about DJ, some of us were questioning whether the writer meant that DJ was in protective custody or OW was, or both. I sent Wes Lowery (the writer) a question through twitter and he sent back a message that they both are in protective custody.

Article says DJ "is in federal protective custody." Which feds have been reported as involved in this case - FBI, DOJ-Civil Rights Division, other? Unless DJ is viewed as a potential federal witness in a potential federal civil rights trial situation, would DJ be given federal protection now?

I don't think OW was trying to hit the assailant in the arm, doing such would cause MORE stray bullets and is just not a good practice legally or training wise.

I think OW was shooting to the left because he just had his face/eye bashed and couldn't aim properly.

Actually, I never assumed or even thought OW was aiming for MB's right arm. I have always assumed they were shots fired at center mass that missed and hit his arm. OW had just been assaulted, chief of police said he was nearly knocked unconscious. I have always assumed the chaos of the moment threw off his aim. From the height of the shots, I've always assumed he was aiming for chest and went a bit off to his (OW's) left sight with his aim.

I consider the possibility of poor grammar. Seems some though (not you of course) refuse to consider that she assumed the two cops in her video were both involved in the shooting she didn't, hence "they" instead of "him". Her story certainly evolved pretty quickly once she got down to the crowd. And we know FOR A FACT that she heard Johnson's story from someone before her first interview.

I was actually wondering about that solo thing. Why _was_ OW patrolling alone anyway? I thought police officers usually patrolled in partners, maybe that's just a myth? If there had been another officer in the car, we would have heard about it by now, I'd think. Unless I missed it. It would seem that patrolling in pairs wold be better for safety and accountability. Anyway, at least they have body cams in Ferguson now.

Have to admit, the shots and wounds are not in my wheelhouse. If the gunshots in the audio recording are authentic, it's hard to picture which shots missed, some in the first bevy or the second or both. And it's tough to speculate on Wilson's state of mind and body as to why he shot, what he targeted, etc. To me, the shots and wounds are a crap shoot without more information being released. Baden and that other guy certainly didn't help us much. All from the front seems to mean something different than all from the front apparently?!?!

Ok. OT, but I can't resist!

LOL, I wonder how much "clean pee" goes for these days! If I were inclined to break the law, my kidneys could be worth millions! I sold my blood and plasma in college, the first time, to buy books. Maybe I could pee my way to retirement now, lol! Golden flow, indeed!

Since there's a market on other peoples + pregnancy tests, I'm sure there's a market on cups of pee :giggle:

Maybe craigslist?:dunno:

With Ferguson's budget, I doubt they can afford to double salary and bennies in each squad vehicle. I think in cities where there is a greater population and police budget, they roll in pairs. My city is pretty tame when it comes to crime, our LE rides solo, but there is almost always two cars on the scene immediately, even for traffic stops.

There weren't two cops in the car, of that I am certain. But I think when Piaget finally saw Mike's body and the two cops standing behind him, she thought they both shot him. If I looked out my window and saw that scene, I think that's what I would naturally conclude.

DJ is 22 yo with an arrest record and a young child (or perhaps 2) to provide for. He may have already been granted admission into the Federal Witness Protection Program, because recanting his story (if true) means he'll need to be relocated and given a new identity, i.e. a fresh start:

http://www.cnn.com/2013/02/16/justice/witness-protection-program/

I honestly would love to see that for him and his family.

I don't know why, but ever since seeing DJ put back those cigars that MB gave to him in the store, I've had hope for him. And then listening to him in interviews, I can tell he's not a well versed liar. I truly believe he's a follower and I think with the right people surrounding him, he can rise above his less than desirable upbringing and really do something worthwhile with his life.

Kind of like Officer Wilson.

I'm rooting for you DJ :peace:

I think it would depend on how many officers they have available. I know that where I live, our officers patrol solo. Wilson was also responding to a sick call. It shouldn't take two officers for that type of call.

MOO

I don't have twitter. Can you send him another tweet about this sentence?

Federal investigators have interviewed Dorian Johnson about that day. But his attorneys did not allow him to discuss the shooting or what happened on that trip to Ferguson Market, a liquor and convenience store where Brown was videotaped allegedly taking a box of Swisher Sweets and shoving the store’s manager.

It's confusing as to whether DJ's attorneys did not allow him to discuss the shooting and Ferguson Market with the Feds or the reporter

Yeah at first I thought his decision (after pondering) to put back the cigars showed honesty and a conscience.

After I learned he had an open WARRANT out for his arrest, for theft no less, then I changed my mind.

That wasn't moral fortitude, it was the fear of going to the big house.

I totally agree with you on this.

I do hope that no matter what he tells/says to the GJ that it is the truth, period. I don't need to see/hear what he says, just tell the truth.

I read a quote from Ferguson PD Chief Jackson today saying the officers are loving their new video cams. The only drawback mentioned, not from Jackson, was that the cams may negatively affect on-site witnesses to crimes coming up and telling responding officers what happened.
