I added creepingskills info from post above - thank you :)

March , 1996: Someone broke into RB's home and stole a computer. He suspected CWW, but, could it be RM?

April 09, 1996: Russell Meddows pled guilty to receiving stolen property, coincidence? Very possibly, but who knows.

April , 1996: CWW and unknown person shot at RB while driving. RB kept the bullet. He would have had to file police report in order to claim insurance for window replacement.

May 08, 1996: CWW charged with unlawful use of firearm and controlled substance possession – related to a police report of RB being shot at?

July 09, 1996: RB meets with CWW and goes missing, presumed by LE to have been murdered.

So my answer to your question is most definitely a yes, especially if the person asking is not only a friend but has money/family with money. I have personally been looking at these cases and the M.O. is similar for both. I can't say for certain if CWW and BW were friends, however, that is a rumor that I had heard at the time but i can't verify if it's true or not. I know that they did go to high school together and so it's a distinct possibility that they were friends. I recently ran across an article from the Amanda Jones case as it's the ten year anniversary this year. The article was written at the time of the disappearance. Pay attention to ALL the names involved - including POI, LE, and Family. See if it rings any bells for you. I found it interesting. Here's the link http://www.stltoday.com/news/local/...cle_629e6338-13e0-5cd4-be55-63c832ec737a.html

Thank you so much, QE. :loveyou: I appreciate your insight. My heart goes out to you. It never ceases to amaze me that LE can say there is "nothing suspicious" about a disappearance. They must have a higher standard for suspicion than the average person!

I'm going to copy this series of posts over to Amanda Jones' thread, so as not to highjack this one. There are definitely ringing bells regarding LE, although I'll have to look a little harder at the POI and family names. I'd love to know more if it's within TOS.

ETA: Here is my complication of these posts on Amanda Jones' thread.

I believe the date listed with the charge is the date the offence was alleged to have occurred. The warrant for arrest wasn't issued until August 2. It may be he was not arrested until Aug 12, and appeared in court the same day (very expeditious!)

aughhhhhh so confusing. Thank you for clarification. I hate posting incorrect information, but then again, how else am I going to know if it needs correcting! Thanks again :D

It never ceases to amaze me that LE can say there is "nothing suspicious" about a disappearance.

That's not what they are saying, I'm sure LE are deeply suspicious, but they have to find evidence of a crime before they can officially open a homicide investigation and officially investigate someone as a suspect. I'm sure they are keeping their eyes on this person and/or waiting for evidence to appear, but there are many many cases on this forum where there is plenty of suspicion, but just not enough actual proof to arrest someone.

My family's from a small town. Corruption in those places is more often based on protecting family members or at least favoring family members over others. it seems like the Wrights had their tentacles into everything.

That's really the point of making a person "disappear". As we were told repeatedly, it is NOT illegal for an adult to leave and never return. Therefore, they need some type of evidence and if your good at making a person "disappear", there most likely won't be any evidence - or at least not enough to get any conviction on. And if everyone involved pleads the 5th or just says nothing at all, the criminals will get away with their crimes. Sad but true.:gaah::maddening:

Good catch. You are right. I carelessly read the comment "nothing suspicious", which referred to their searches of her friends' homes, as meaning there was nothing suspicious about her disappearance. My apology to Tommy Wright.

As you say, they have to have evidence of a crime, inconsistent statements or enough time pass so that it's clear that a person has died before they open a homicide investigation or arrest someone. It took two years in the case in my signature (Stephanie Warner) for the detective to say that she is likely dead and that her boyfriend is a suspect. No arrest yet, but they keep watching and investigating. Another no body case. :banghead:

On Pg 58 of the Missing Person Police Report for RB, K states that;

"they got Bolin alone and killed him with a weapon. They placed the body in a bath tub near the Wright's home...(edited for space)...after the body had deteriorated enough, Wright brothers and the unknown old man then took Bolin's bones and placed them in a borrowed woodchipper to crush the bones up."
"...he stated that the bone remains of Bolin were scattered around the Wright property."

See the information from Wikipedia below (bolded by me) about Lye and how it is an ingredient in Meth and is also used to rapidly decompose flesh...how convenient and how disturbing. The bathtub has bugged me until I read about lye. This could explain people vanishing with no trace.

Illegal uses:
Lyes have been used for removing the ink from $1 bills with the intent of reusing the fabric for counterfeit bills of a higher denomination, such as $100 bills.[SUP][citation needed][/SUP]

Lye is also an important ingredient for the illegal synthesis of substituted amphetamines.

Examples of substituted amphetamines are amphetamine (itself),[SUP][1][/SUP] methamphetamine, ephedrine, cathinone, MDMA (ecstasy), and DOM (STP).

Tissue digestion[edit]

Sodium or potassium hydroxide can be used to digest tissues of animal carcasses or deceased humans. Often referred to as alkaline hydrolysis, the process involves placing the carcass or body into a sealed chamber, adding a mixture of lye and water and the application of heat to accelerate the process. After several hours the chamber will contain a liquid with coffee-like appearance,[SUP][6][/SUP][SUP][7][/SUP][SUP][8][/SUP] and the only solid that remains are very fragile bone hulls of mostly calcium phosphate, which can be mechanically crushed to a fine powder with very little force.[SUP][9][/SUP][SUP][10][/SUP] Sodium hydroxide is frequently used in the process of decomposing roadkill dumped in landfills by animal disposal contractors.[SUP][7][/SUP] Due to its low cost and availability, it has been used to dispose of corpses by criminals. Italian serial killer Leonarda Cianciulli used this chemical to turn dead bodies into soap.[SUP][11][/SUP] In Mexico, a man who worked for drug cartels admitted to having disposed of more than 300 bodies with it.[SUP][12]

LEMONDAKTRIL Dhhaaaang, such interesting information!!! (What took you so long to join WS??) I was always thinking of a limestone cavern with bushy vegetation camouflaged adit (adit: an entrance to an underground mine which is horizontal or nearly horizontal, by which the mine can be entered, drained of water, ventilated,) because it was stated CWW knew the forest area so well. (What boy growing up in Missouri wouldn't?)
Hmmm, but of course, YOUR information makes perfect sense....A cast iron tub would be resistant to sodium hydroxide (lye) and it even dissolves hair (so people used to use it to unclog drains)... years ago.) It wouldn't be difficult to block the drain with some kind of stopper. I remember a chemist Larissa Foreman Schuster (born in rural Missouri), doing something similar and statements of a "decomposing smell" coming from the storage unit where she placed the plastic barrel containing her husband's body. Hmmppphh, I was holding out hope, there would be some biological evidence that could tie the "bad guys" to the disappearance of RB...but not if lye was used, ugh.
I'm beginning to see some of the obstacles face LE in that area....just horrible.

Thanks IQuestion...glad to be here but don't get anything like as much done as I used too...total WS addict!

Your idea is very feasible too but I think the lye is why there is no evidence to be found. The fact that it is an ingredient that goes into meth production too is just incredible. I was hoping there might be some biological evidence to get the bad guys as well but as you say, if lye was used it is unlikely.

I had been wondering the same thing, but didn't want to bring it up. Lye is easily accessible in large quantities and would not take long to dissolve the fleshy portions of a body. The bones would take much longer, hence the need for a wood chipper. Finding tiny bone shards that have any available dna would be a miracle at this point. The crazy part is, there literally is no way of knowing how many others he and his friends could have killed this way. I have been looking at the list of missing persons from Jefferson County Mo and there are at least 3 other people who disappeared the same way - car abandoned and never seen again. Including one man who's vehicle was ALSO abandoned in North St. Louis! It's actually scary if you think about it.:scared:

Do those missing people have a thread on websleuths? If Amanda Jones is one, she does have a thread

Her and another woman do but the man doesn't at least not that I could find. I'm just a newb so he might be here and I can't find him. These are just people in out small county, I haven't even begun looking at the whole state or even the states between MO and FL. I really do wonder though why he would change his M.O. in this case. The main reason I believe he's never been caught before is because he never left a body before. Is there insurance money or something that someone wants to collect? I don't understand why someone who is so meticulous about these things in the past would suddenly just leave the body. Or maybe I'm crazy, but this stuff is just my opinion.

I think there was likely a large insurance policy(ies) on Dr. Teresa via MS and that she needed to be found quickly for a quick payout. If CWW did murder your brother, it was likely best to make hiim disappear leaving little if any evidence. Moo.

Most don't, but those that do along with other crimes in Jefferson County are grouped together here:

http://www.websleuths.com/forums/tags.php?tag=jefferson+county+mo

ETA: 14 listed at this link - http://www.mshp.dps.missouri.gov/CJ51/Search?personType=&county=Jefferson
and some are also listed here:
http://www.jcsd.org/Missing.htm

O/T - #15 has been added. I believe it is Joan M. Travis at the very bottom of the list. Missing since 1998. I find one article for her from 2012. http://www.myleaderpaper.com/archiv...cle_286f836c-d4e9-59ee-85d9-a445227dd705.html

I wonder if CWW did hits and now that he is disabled he was training a helper--JR?

That made me laugh. NO disrespect intended but it is nice be just a little light hearted in such awful circumstances!

I truly hope ALL those responsible for RB's, TS's and the others murders and "disappearances" are brought to justice swiftly.
