Ruud (39/now 42), “mother” arrested & charged (8/21/17) & indicted (9/20/17) with 1st & 2nd degree murder, abuse of a child resulting in death, tampering with evidence & abandonment of corpse. Plead not guilty. Denied bond (10/16/18).
Bench Trial was to begin on 5/18/21 continued to 3/7/22.

9/27/21 Update: Missouri Supreme Court motions hearing on 9/29/21 @ 9:30am. 9/29/21 Update: The Missouri Supreme Court has heard arguments about a key piece of evidence in the death of Savannah. The case was moved to Greene County where a judge ruled that the recording can’t be introduced as evidence during trial. Prosecutors say Ruud gave them a recording of Ruud talking with her attorneys’ investigators. Prosecutors say Ruud admits she’s guilty on the tape. The defense wants the evidence thrown out. But one Supreme Court justice says Ruud gave the tape away, without any instructions about keeping it confidential.
11/9/21 Update: The Missouri Supreme Court has ruled that a taped audio recording made by Ruud is admissible as evidence. The decision was announced in a Nov. 9 press release from the court that says: (1) The fact that Rudd recorded the conversation did not affect the confidential nature of the meeting because she had no reason to believe the conversation was anything but private. (2) Rudd waived the attorney-client privilege, however, by voluntarily disclosing the recording to her co-defendant & husband, Robert Peat Jr., a third party. The record reflects that Rudd consciously gave the unsealed box & all of its contents to Peat to store before the trip with no indication she intended the box’s contents to remain private or secret.
11/22/21 Update: Status hearing held. State appears by PA Garrabrant & AAG Brown via Webex. Defendant appears by attorney Duvall & Welborn via Webex. Court appoints AAG Brown as Special Prosecutor. Bench trial set for 3/7/22.
*Robert Peat, Jr. (31/now 33) – Pretrial conference hearing on 5/18/21 was cancelled.

edited to add - one of the articles said they will have a pretrial hearings before trial starts - so I'll check back in about a week from now.
 
@Jewels53 - Just wondering IF there might be any new news on a court hearing date for Ruud? I know that Peat won't be going to trial until after Ruud's trial. I have her trial on 3/7/22.

Replying again I was wrong about that case #17OZ-CR00325 was changed to 1746-CR02630 Back on 10/19/2017. Sorry for the confusion.
 
@Jewels53 - just thought I'd check in and see if there might be a hearing in February before her trial.

Also Peat - but I think he won't have anything until after her trial.

Trial reset for 10th time: Ruud murder trial rescheduled to June 27-29

Feb. 23, 2022

The trial for Ozark County resident Rebecca Ruud, charged with murdering her 16-year-old daughter Savannah Leckie in 2017 and the disposal of the girl’s body in a burn pile on Ruud’s off-the-grid farm near Theodosia has been bumped back from March 7 to June 27-29 before 31st Judicial Circuit Judge Calvin Holden.

Ruud has requested a bench trial, meaning a judge determines the guilt or innocence of the defendant instead of a jury of her peers. The trial will be held in Greene County, where Holden holds most of his proceedings.

Garrabrant told the Times early this week that he was informed of the Ruud trial’s rescheduling by the court. Garrabrant said it is due to another case taking its place on the court’s docket involving the alleged molestation of a 4-year-old child, a type of case that gets legal docket priority according to Missouri state statute.

Online records show that on March 7 Judge Holden is now set to preside over a jury trial for Jerry Yoakum, who is alleged to have raped, sodomized and molested a female relative for several years beginning when the girl was 3 or 4.

A virtual meeting was held in February with Holden and the defense team, which consists of Ozark County Prosecuting Attorney John Garrabrant and Assistant Attorney General Michael after the attorneys and judge received a Supreme Court decision on a key piece of evidence that was in question.

The evidence is a recording device that Ruud reportedly taped while talking with two Missouri Public Defender employees while discussing her then-expected charges. Ruud reportedly gave the recording to her co-defendant and husband Robert Peat Jr., who offered it to the prosecution team in 2020 when he became a cooperating witness for the state.
