This poor family, what a tragedy especially for a girl so young.

I hope they can find some peace. It would be a much larger wound if murder was involved here.

Question: Who was it that said last phone ping was 9:30 PM?

Exactly my thoughts. Why would she have her window down when it was so cold in the middle of the night? Also, how could the body and belongings remain in the vehicle when fully submerged in water? Also, if the current of the water was enough to have possibly moved the car along somewhat, how would her possessions remain in the vehicle? This is all so unbelievable.

Why was her window down? Why didn't she at least try to exit the car through the open window? Why would her mother think Toni was freaked out after getting pulled over? I would think that interaction was the least stressful of any of her previous interactions with LE.

As I mentioned above, IMO, suicide is NOT a likely explanation.

While I leave a little room for foul play, I think an accident is most likely.

A few thoughts related to this.

1. I do NOT have a very good sense of direction, so it's common for me to miss turns or lose my way even in broad daylight. If you add in another layer of complication--like it's dark, I'm running late and feel pressured to get somewhere quickly, am in an unfamiliar area, or am stressed because of road conditions--I could *easily* turn down the wrong road into a park or onto a boat ramp.

In my opinion, if Toni has a history of speeding and was fatigued from being out late, it's VERY plausible she made a fatal error due to speeding or disorientation. If she used any kind of substance that dulled/skewed her senses even a little, it becomes even more likely IMO.

Does anyone know if she was known for having a poor sense of direction? My family and friends know this all too well about me.

2. I live near many bodies of water. Things go into the water for all kinds of reasons (boats sink, snowmobiles and vehicles are driven out when the ice is too thin, inebriated drivers make impossibly foolish mistakes). I am frequently surprised by where the objects end up. They often seem illogically far away or in a surprising direction from where they went in.

In light of this, I wouldn't rule out the possibility the car could've careened/been airborne/rolled down a hill until we hear from experts who can project these sorts of thing from previous data.

In relationship to this, I want to know if they are scouring the hillsides and any non-guardrailed areas, looking for a path of entry. Tire marks, glass, ripped off mirrors, paint scrapes etc.

How were her belongings in her car with the window down? The didn't float out???

Anyone want to help me brainstorm reasons the phone pinged so late?

1. The information circulating is wrong. It did NOT really ping at 9:30 p.m. The last data was closer to the 6 a.m. mark.
2. The phone was waterproof. Some scuba lovers claim that phones can sometimes get signals a few feet underwater. http://forum.scubatoys.com/archive/index.php/t-17307.html
3. The car was floating or not fully submerged for a while, which allowed it to continue to receive a signal.
4. The phone was not in the car (that sparks lots of other questions, if so).
5. Toni went somewhere else, killed time/did or did not meet someone else, before entering the water.

The family has been raked through the coals on SM. This case had many throwing rocks in glass houses. We don't walk in their shoes. For them it may be enough is enough ( for now).

Very tragic . I would think there is much more to the story of Toni Anderson and her death... I don't feel we will ever hear it.

Also forgot to say earlier Kristy Kelley was found by the Watters sonar team as well it was how I knew who they were when LA mentioned they were using them.
I've followed at least 5-10 cases on here where they've been successful in finding the missing person and car.

wow wow wow. They are heroes!

I wonder if that was possible if submerged. I know this has been discussed adnausium, but now "hearing" all her possessions were submerged, makes me wonder.
I did alot of looking up and research on this in the beginning of this case. From what I gathered, no it's not possible. If it was simply turned off, possibly (conflicting info out there) ... damaged - no.

As I mentioned above, I think an accident is most likely.

I do leave some room (albeit small) for the possibility of foul play. Here are my questions related to this.

1. Does the park utilize trail cams? In my state, park trail cams caught multiple pictures of graffiti artists who were convicted when they released the photos publicly.

2. Could the window have been open bc she met someone at the park? Meaning perhaps she talked to someone through an open window. And perhaps she popped the trunk, believing someone was going to load some purchased items into her car. Then, she was either helped into the river or surprised and fled there on accident.

3. There have been several drug busts in our area near docks. Often the landings are deserted at night and are secluded by trees. This makes it a probable place to conduct shady business. I've never heard of escort services etc. using our more rural docks, but I don't rule out the possibility it could be used as a place to meet and park with a customer of some kind. What else do we know about those "check ins" mentioned further up? Has someone submitted the check-ins to police working this case? If there IS any weight to it, they could at least question those in Toni's circles to see if this was a known hook-up or meet-up spot.

4. I agree that boat ramps are often built in more shallow water to aid all kinds of boaters--like kayakers and canoers who might want to stand in the water while pushing off or getting out. I'd love to hear from someone in the area about the depth of water immediately past the dock. I agree with those who mentioned earlier, that a stunned person--particularly if in a flipped car--would have difficulty getting out after being jostled about and rushed with cold water. Again, add in other factors--fatigue or substance use of any kind--and it complicates things further.

Toni's mom wrote Toni's car was lodged behind the "truck" but wasn't the "truck" closer to the boat ramp, by quite a ways, than Toni's car? I guess pulling the 1st one up could have caused Toni's car to go further downstream?

Thanks, I get it. Just trying to sort out conflicting statements and reports.

That's what I understood too. So many conflicting statements. We shall find out whatever comes out. LE has still not made an official statement.

If drugs/alcohol were involved or something else causing disorientation, did that event occur after the police stop and gas station? Assuming the cop who made the stop would have noticed.

I think you are misinterpreting the perspective or something...

After the traffic stop, the cars cross Burlington on 26 Ave, heading to the QuikTrip. They do not turn south.

You didn't watch the video, apparently. They are claiming she left the gas station. Are you ready to claim that as fact? They are describing the end of this event with Toni leaving the area going south. I understand why they falsely claimed she left the gas station. Can you figure it out? There is perfect video showing her drive away going south. THAT'S A SMOKING GUN. There is no video of Toni leaving the QT turning on 9, but there is video of her leaving the traffic stop driving south on 9.

And as Toni leaves the gas station to get back on the highway known as the Route 9 Corridor, you can see the cop who'd pulled her over continue to follow her until she is out of view of surveillance cameras.

"There is no visual evidence to show where she went," said Sgt. Caldwell.

The window being down is interesting, maybe so someone outside of the car could have access to the steering wheel?

It was forecasted to be a huge ice storm and we really didn't get anything. I remember it well.

You're right, we didn't get what they said we were supposed to get but different areas got more than other areas. Not every road was salted.
Most of happened over Saturday night thru early Sunday morning and it mostly melted. But the re-freeze could easily be possible at 5am.
