The judge brought forth an outstanding case against Haslett from 2021 for careless and imprudent driving. Haslett missed several court appearances in regard to the case and forfeited his bond on two separate occasions. Haslett pled guilty to the careless and imprudent charge and the judge ruled “time served” for the three previous days Haslett had spent in the county detention center. Haslett asked that his bail money be returned so that he could start “a fund for his son.” The judge informed Haslett that in Missouri, bail paid directly to the court is refunded upon sentencing.
He has a son? Poor child!

"Here are some of the basic facts The Star has gathered about Haslett so far:
HE LIVED IN KANSAS CITY METRO SINCE AROUND 2010 Haslett has lived in the home in Excelsior Springs since at least 2017. He previously resided in Kansas City in 2010 and then Independence until around 2015, but originally hails from Marion County in southern Illinois. He attended school in Patoka, Illinois and resided in nearby Vernon until around 2008. He appears to have no close family residing in the Kansas City area, aside from a young son, roughly 8 years old.

HE IS DIVORCED Public records show Haslett married in 2013 in Independence. He filed for divorce two years later, when his son was roughly 12 months old. In a subsequent custody case, he maintained joint legal custody of the child, and became the primary custodial parent. After petitioning the court, the boy primarily resided with him at the house in the 300 block of Old Orchard Avenue, along with a dog. That arrangement meant Haslett was not responsible for paying child support, but his ex-wife had to pay $400 in child support each month, since the boy only lived with her every other weekend and one evening each week.

HE WAS A RAILROAD WORKER Haslett spent years working as a union railroad employee. His public Facebook profile lists him most recently as an employee of M & H Contractors, a Kansas City-based subcontractor that does rail maintenance work. It was unclear where his place of employment was at the time of his arrest on Friday. In a court ruling during his arraignment, Haslett was determined to be indigent and unable to provide the necessary funding for his own defense, and the Missouri Public Defender’s Office was ordered to represent him.

The article also includes details about previous infractions. Mostly traffic violations in MO and IL including two outstanding warrants for failure to appear

Also wondering what's beneath the blue tarp?
I don't know but I'll tell you what's in the blue barrels. That cadaver dog just flagged one in the vid. It's hard to tell, since the yellow tape is in the way, but his paw is on the barrel. He scratched it with gusto. We should be seeing more serious charges brought up against him IMO.

The vid had the option to copy the link grayed out so I couldn't copy it. The vid is the one at the top with LE talking in the link below. It's 47 seconds in. That looked like a "pretty darn for sure flagging" done by that dog. :( It caught me by surprise and made me jump in my seat. The woman is super lucky to be alive. It doesn't appear that her friends made it. :(

I saw that, however I don't think anyone is in there anymore as it seemed very light when the dog tagged it,

1665595550488.pngbest I could get as a still image.

I still can't get past the fact that a child reside in that home. While the victim was being held, SA'd and whipped in the basement room. The victim literally escaped when this perp left to take his son to school!??

Like what the heck. There is sick and there is sick, to be the primary parent and residence for your child and be torturing women in the basement is just next level sick

And it's a pretty small house too @ 1013 SF. So basically no matter where in that small footprint that child was, he wasn't far from what was going on downstairs. I can't imagine he didn't hear or know anything. Old houses (It's 1924) can be a bit drafty with not a lot of insulation, if any.

It also only has 1 bathroom according to RE info. So.... was she allowed upstairs to go to the bathroom multiple times of the day and night? If she had no clothes when she escaped, were they provided when nature called? If so, HOW?? Knock 3 times on the basement pipes to call attention to her need? It's hard to imagine that child didn't know something was amiss.

looking at that house, would they be calling the basement the area beside the garage door that is underground, like a hill next to the garage?

yes, but when I clicked it disappeard so I thought that may be happening for others.
That's odd. I pops up when I click on it. Perhaps you clicked on the URL above the pic? I posted the URL above the pic so folks can see the video for themselves (since it wouldn't give me the option to copy the Vid URL)... Below that looks like a vid due to the arrow in the middle of it, but it's actually the pic of the dog. I couldn't easily capture it without that arrow in the middle of things. So... it looks like a vid but it's not. :) It still doesn't make sense that the pic would disappear if that's what you clicked on. It opens up larger for me. Weirder things have happened in life! LOL

probably a user error, mine. I agree with you when that dog did that my stomach just sunk . There is going to be so much more to this story.

Yeah. I was not at ALL prepared to see the dog do that. I was unable to sleep last night so was feeling droopy-eyed and punchy sitting here. That jolted me wide awake! :(

Yeah, there was just something about the way the dog did that, I mean it's his job, so he kept on going... but just, well you get it .... disturbing.

IMHO thank goodness she found a way to escape. This will be complicated. I can't imagine that this is the first and only time TH has attempted or done something like this. Hopefully, we will find out more. I wonder if he was ever considered the "creepy" neighbor guy or one no one saw much of?
